  1. For those (like me) that use the Izotope Product Portal to update their various products ........ don't bother opening it up and updating to v 1.4.2.

Apparently there is a permissions issue with the said installer and it will only install/update itself in Windows safe mode ! Which basically renders it unusable.

I was advised by their chat line to wait for a further update to the Portal software.

@Jeremy Oakes Do not discount the BL App on your phone as I described above ( read post above this ). You still dont need the BL utility installed on your system for this process. Think of the BL app on your phone as an extension to your CW on your Puter. Not alone an easy way of getting found sounds while out and about on your phone but also a nice way of recording ideas that cross your mind, even humming a melody line. This as well as the Collab possibilities

    ( PS - you a lizzy fan :D )

    Yes i get it

    But i still don’t like it !

And yes, The Boys are most definitely back here 🎸🎸🎸

  3. The other guitarist in our band and i have the same set up - Bugera 55 Infinium Combis and A Peavey 112 each.

in order to hear each other in places where we don’t need to mic the guitars to the pa,   we run two  lines out from our multi pedals (ME 80 for him and GT 100 for me) one into our Bugera (valve power) and the another line out into the other person’s Peavey.

Works great and balances the sound.

If going through the pa then we both DI into it.

In Windows 10 v1703 and later, there's a command line application (MBR2GPT.exe) that'll convert the boot drive from MBR to GPT (without losing data).

    It's located in the Windows\System32

You can also use a 3rd-party (paid) application called AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional ($50)

Before proceeding, make sure you have proper backup and read up on the necessary steps.

I have used AOMEI and it works perfectly. No data loss at all.

MBR2GPT will however erase your disk data.

Then this wasn't an isolated case.  If two of us have had the same problem, probably others.  Do you recall doing or changing anything before this happened.

To be honest no. I think it was due to a micro cut/brown out of the power where i live which forced a cold reboot. (Can’t happen now as i’ve since purchased an APC).

It was with Ozone 5 standard and its happened a couple of times. And the fact that the presets are available to download separately indicates to me that the fact they dematerialise is probably a known issue.

    I re-installed because its quicker !

You have to use MBR2GPT.exe to do the conversion.
I spent more than half of Saturday dealing with switching to UEFI. I had 2 redundant recovery partitions created by buggy windows installs that I had to manually delete before I was able to use the MBR2GPT.EXE tool. I had to watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials before I figured out how to do that. Not for the faint of heart - I was afraid I would brick my system but it worked fine after I deleted the dead recovery partitions. Different tool to find out which one is in use and which is dead!

If anyone needs to do this I can hunt down the videos I found that helped.
The annoying thing is after all that work I got the CPU incompatibility message. It would have been far more useful if they listed all the problems at one time rather than piecemeal.

I used Aomei Partition Assistant to transform mbr disks to gpt. Its painless and you don’t lose data. But its paying.

so now all i need is this blasted tmp2 thingy. Fingers crossed MS will back down. I can’t find one for my MB at all (in France).

    cheers,

A lot of people fear Microsoft more than God and the devil! 😆

I am sure Windows 11 is even worse than Windows 10, more user enforcement, more slobbery social media integration, more greasy shopping experience, more incompatibility to older hard- and software! 👎 An example for the latter is USB compatibility, in W10 I experienced a constant worsening of compatibility with USB hard- and software (unfortunately you can't revert to an older W10 release). Even USB disk removal got worse in each release, I noticed this comparing my W7 pc, my W10 1909 pc and my up to date W10 laptop!

But this is just your pov. No ?

W10 is fine here. Has been for the last few years. Never had a USB issue. YMMV, but i bet the majority of people have no issues.  Perhaps (dare i say) your system ? Ouch I’ll get my hat .’………

I think you're banging your head against the wall for no real good reason. The repeat symbols are really nothing more than a graphic symbol that is a arbitrary convention used in music notation that has no meaning outside that context.

If you were to write your piece out in a notation program - repeat signs and all - and then export it as a midi file and then open that midi file and any sequencer of your choosing, guess what. It's going to unroll all those repeats.

Yes. This is exactly what i did.  It works btw. Either Guitar Pro or Notion works fine.

    Thanks,

If the clip is exactly 1 (or 2 or 15) measures, you can copy and paste it x number of times without moving the cursor. If it doesn't end exactly on a measure, you can drag the right end so it does, then copy/paste so all the subsequent clips start on the measure.

    Thanks !

    Yess i know this.

    I have a fixation about the ||: and :|| symbols …….. sad!

I’ve put in a feature request - i think in track view it would be more economic to use such a feature.

cheers and thakns to everyone who replied,

  10. Thanks Mr Jones,  but not what i’m asking. I want Cakewalk to be able to repeat a measure over and over again, as many times as specified.

Imagine the synths of On the Run, (DSOTM) its the same motive played 99 times. You want to drag that for 99 measures ?  I don’t.

But no problem, I now know its not currently possible. And i’ve made a feature request. Thanks for your input !!

    Best,

But that's how you have to do it.

Why are you so adamant about this anyway? Are you trying to conserve valuable, expensive parchment and ink?

    Yes i realise that now.

Have you ever had an idea you can’t let go of ?

Damn you got me, I’m  a tree hugger, so yes conservation is all.

Plus the fact of having not to do repetitious actions.….

    Each to their own  ?

  12. Hello,

In the old forum there were posts about how to repeat a measure/bar for x number of times before going on to the rest of the song. (There is nowt in the manual that I could find.)

Since the old forum, duplicate clips has been implemented but that's not what I want to do.

Imagine you have a bar that you want to repeat 20 times before going on with the rest of the project. In Guitar Pro, for example, you add the the following signs  ||:    :|| and in the accompanying menu box you specify the number of times to repeat said bar. OK, I understand that's in notation software, perhaps not in a DAW.

The project I want to do this in has many tracks (audio and midi) but at the point where I want to insert this one bar (repeated 20 times) no other track is playing.

My question is : can I do this in Cakewalk or is it more a feature request ?

    Cheers,

    Jerry

    Thanks, I'll have a look.

Yeah, the Apple rubbish nonsense doesn't make me feel better, it's just proving that's not a way out for me. I only can feel even more sorry for their users. For now I have no other choice than to stick with Windows 10 and the mess as I can't seem to find a better way for the time being but I definitely don't like it that way. I wonder that there is a kind of general, common acceptance for that.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I could prolonge the doomsday for max 365 days in the regular security options and yesterday Windows decided time is up and started updating without warning, and I couldn't stop it. Maybe there are ways to edit group policies and alike but like I said I was trying to keep things fairly default. Besides I'm not IT literate to that extent.

If you have W10 pro, just disable the update service. Not too sure about home, i don’t have it
