It took a couple of days for them to respond to my email too.  I was ready to pull the trigger but obviously glad I waited .

For what one gets though, I  think at $168 for the upgrade (MPS2.1->3), is a definite bargain considering the add-ons!  I've been waiting for an offer from Groove 3 for a renewal at $79 which they have done a couple of times in the past to keep me subscribed but nothing this year.  That and the addition of R4 & Nimbus is a very reasonable value IMHO.

But their (iZotope) willingness to have a grace period much less extending it a bit for long-time customers speaks volumes!  👍

Same here. It took about three days for Izotope to respond.

And as for Groove 3, I too waited for that $79 renewal offer and it never came. All they offered was the standard sale pricing of $99.

Where or how do you find this?  I upgraded on 8/29 and don't see a grace period upgrade.

You might not believe this, to be honest even I can't fully wrap my head around the fact that I actually found something useful on Gearslutz. But yeah, a guy on there was saying the grace period is 2 months. So I took a shot and contacted Izotope support.  I received the following message in response to asking if the grace period was two months:

    "From: Alexis (iZotope)

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I will be more than happy to help you.

The answer is yes! I am happy to share with you a Serial Number to activate a copy of the Music Production Suite 3 at no cost!"

  3. My account was only showing the standard loyalty upgrade and whilst I almost hit purchase on the upgrade to MPS 3. I held off because I was a bit miffed that I had only just got MPS 2.1 about two months ago. Well I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger, because guess who fell into the free upgrade grace period?...

    THIS GUY! 😎

I did that but no luck with that step alone.

First computer took Support deleting a bunch of files and other manipulations.  2nd computer I had to both copy the folder from the 1st computer and then run an install.  Both computers working, but took hours of work and support to make it happen (and I have way more IT experience than the average person).

Glad you got it working in the end! But wow I'm a little surprised at the rigmarole as Corel programs have always worked for me on my systems.

Fair warning, the Painter Program has been a nightmare to install on both (up to date Windows 10) machines I've tried it on.

    Curious the experience of others.

It all ran smoothly here and I am running Windows 10 as well.

I would recommend running the installs with administrator privileges.

bitflipper,  also if a interface has built in DSP... which is probably the most clean way to do it.

Royal Yaksman, I had a fairly simple question and I believe I got the answer. The video... Cool guy doing cool things to be cool... that is cool, but it does not relate to my  particular question.  I have heard a drunk opera singer in abandoned tunnel that had more talents than the guy in your video.  My question is not about  "talents" or vocal techniques. It is specifically about using a Limiter/Compressor. And I do not "aim" to clip :)

P.S. Is that a compressor on the table of the guy in the video at his studio?  :)

The point of me posting that video has nothing to do with cool. Quite frankly I thought the whole thing was ridiculously unnecessary. Though I am sure even the artist is aware of that. But I posted it because there is no way in hell the sound in your room could even come close to the wind on that lake and yet he got a fairly clean signal. I know that you did not specifically request technique tips. But for sure whilst you can compress on the way in, there will be less you can do with the captured audio in the mixing process as a result.

Lastly, you say that you do not aim to clip, but are intent on continuing to employ a practice that you know will result in clipping?...🤪

  7. Like others have said, it would be better to record at lower levels. I realise you said that this causes issues during mixing in regards to room noise. For that I would recommend investing in something like Izotope's RX7 or Steinberg's Spectral Layers 6. Both products will allow you to isolate room noise from the vocals. Although note that often entirely removing room noise does not sound as natural as simply lowering the amplitude of the extraneous/problematic sounds.

NI is waht Neve or Roland is to music industry , the most impacting brand in what todayz music is ...so imma keep supporting them and wish them all the best !!

Whilst I agree to some extent, I also think that they (NI) have been caught napping. They certainly were leaders. But to be completely honest, I feel that they are now just another company that makes sounds. If they really want to keep their spot in the scheme of all things, by all that is deal like, they need to innovate and push the envelope like it is the oxygen they need to continue breathing!

NI has had update subscriptions before actually, long long ago.  But they only did it for a year or so.  You basically pre-paid for the a year of upgrades to Komplete.  I don't think they are going subscriptions on software anytime soon.  The Loop Loft stuff (sounds.com) maybe, the Machine expansions, maybe, but not the rest.  In past things like this (NI has done this a few times actually) what usually happens is they kill off a bunch of amazing and great products in favor of some stuff you have no interest in.  Most likely this means more hardware/mobile phone nonsense and less improve Kontakt so it doesn't suck.

The big question is which instrument or lineup is about to go the way of Kore?

  11. It's like a company that makes 62 billion different instruments might have spread themselves thin or something? And of course the answer is to become thinner...😬

Also is it just me or does that article read like "subscription imminent!"

After watching, a few other thoughts came to mind...

    • I can only imagine how much my back would hurt after playing one for awhile
    • Doing the "thumb wrap" on the lowest string probably isn't happening
    • How the heck do I mute the other strings??!
    • Why didn't either of them fly all over the fingerboard doing lots of string skipping?
    • And, finally, that was actually pretty cool. 😎

    1. Industrial strength girdles are mandatory.

    2. Whilst a thumb wrap might not be possible, the option to sling a moob over to fret a sloppy note or two is not inconceivable.

    3. Legend says the upper strings are so large that if they aren't being actively played, they are muted by gravity.

    4. Insurance company refused to cover deliberately giving themselves carpal tunnel syndrome.

    5. We have an accord!

All their older pedals are $49 full price, so I guess the subscription adds a 3x markup.  So the new math to figure out what a PA product should really sell for is take price, divide by 3 then take 50% (expected basic music software sale discount) which is the same as 16.6% of the full retail price.  So I guess that means the new discount level for PA needs to hit 83% off before it's a good deal.

I am kinda hoping the subscription will fail and then they can drop the voucher charade and just sell all their plugs for $4!

I own about 20 PA plugs or so, all purchased on sale. I have demoed quite a few of the range and even though some are pretty good. There is honestly nothing in their entire range that I would be prepared to part with $100 for. But there is a few I would shell out $4 fo... No wait! After the whole "keeping the lights on" thing, I've looked deep into my heart and am prepared to make it a full $4.99 a plug!😁

I have an Ample bass that only takes up 5GB for the library, and it sounds very authentic.

It's hard to imagine what you are gaining with 15GB.

    Seems fishy to me.

I was wondering that myself? I also have Shreddage Abyss which is 4.28GB and it can do everything Bass Fingers can, plus Abyss sounds better with fast playing as it has palm muting and staccato mode. Though the amp and effects in the Waves products are probably a little better.

The 15GB left me pondering if perhaps not all of the library content is available to us in playback at the moment. Maybe there is an update looming that will unlock features, additional tones and bass models not currently available in this version?

Otherwise it is a lot of drive space in comparison to competitors.

  16. It has some pretty decent flexibility in tonality but as far as I can see there is no way to palm mute individual note positions. It can mute each individual string but it appears to do that as an open string mute only.  Keyswitches can change how the string is played but nothing as yet has made a satisfying palm mute sound. If I've missed this glaring feature someone please school me up?

I have also found that I need to change the legato mode and turn the rotary on the guitar towards 'release' for faster playing.

If you already have Modo, this likely won't do anything for you.

That being said, if Waves were to perhaps add some palm mutes and a staccato mode, it would put it higher up there in usability.  But as it stands this plug has some nice thick bass sounds that I would rate as: usable enough for 20 bucks! 😎 Though the HD is definitely better than SD. I have found that in the SD version, the additional noises like fret buzz and string rattle, sound a bit over-pronounced and fake.
