  1. I use the reverbs that come with the amp sims and I also use PSP's Springbox if I'm going for a spring reverb with a heavier mix and I like Eventide's Blackhole for ambient things and there are various reverbs I use in Reaktor.

  2. The only thing I can think of is that you have a controller setting the volume to zero. Be aware that some controller information in Alchemy is global, you may change a controller in one patch and it will effect another patch - yikes! Bit me. That doesn't explain why patches change. I know it's not much help, but Alchemy works fine with the latest cbb and platinum on win 7 and it's been working fine for me on win 10.

  3. I'm not aware of ASIO drivers for Realtek HW. The ASIO4ALL isn't really ASIO. You want ASIO drivers written for your HW, not something generic. If you're concerned with latency you'll want to get an external device. My DAW is a tower, but I also use a laptop with a Roland Quad-Capture. IIRC it has a latency around 10 - 12 ms and the clock speed is nothing special - 2 to 2.9 ghz.

FWIW, I don't like the stock Cabs...

IMO, TH-U starts to sound a whole lot better if you use quality Cab IRs.

What I think is ideal (if you have the Cabs/mics)... is to create your own Cab IRs (your favorite Cab/s, mic'd the way you like).

This helps bend the sound (tone) to being more "you".

I think the cab sim is the current weak spot in amp sims. IRs don't react to dynamics so your playing dynamics can't control speaker break up. At this point the amp sims seem to respond to playing dynamics, now if they work on the cabs ...

    There's a lot of cool new options/capabilities.

One of the biggest being the Rig Player.  It's similar to a Kemper Profiling Amp.

For the time being, you can't create/load your own profiles (have to get them thru Overload), but hopefully they'll open up that process.

That's a little disappointing, but I plan to upgrade anyway.

I was happy to see they have an upgrade path from the full version TH-3 ($59 US).
