I was just saying that I don't think that we have enough drum libraries.....:P

For those who do dance genres two is enough for acoustic drums.  I don't have the ears of drummer to know the difference between materials used in kits.

It's not just about running 400 tracks.

It's about being able to effectively work at super small ASIO buffer sizes.

Some newer audio interfaces (Antelope, Presonus Quantum, etc) allow round-trip latency as low as sub 1ms.

ie: Playing thru guitar processing plugins (in realtime) at 1-2ms total round-trip latency are now possible/practical (while running a project).

You can't do that with an older/slower machine.

May not seem like a big deal, but that makes the playing experience similar to playing thru an Axe-FX, Helix, Quad Cortex, etc.

Developers will always find a way to use faster CPUs.

Things we take for granted today (Melodyne, etc) weren't possible back in Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 days.

I could run 48+ tracks back then... but software based reverb/etc was primitive (Cakewalk's reverb was mono).

Quality of plugins has increased dramatically.

BTW, You don't have to be a world-class chef or food-critic to enjoy a great steak or glass of wine.

PRS guitars are wonderful instruments... whether you're a world-class player... or just a hobbyist.

There's SE (import), S2 (US with some import hardware), Core (USA), Wood Library, and Private Stock

I have to start looking at things from a financial point of view.  Our shoes are much different as explained.  My last build was a 9900K.  It's more than enough.  I bought all of the parts during the Covid lockdowns and couldn't build the same specs today at the price.

As for PRS I still have an older Santana SE with a wide fat neck.  If I were to put down some serious money it would be a PRS.  I would have to justify my abilities to be worthy of one.

    There's a reason why we don't offer the 10900k and 10900ks in a rack case.  😉

I had one of the first Pong games that allowed up to 4 players.

Nothing like what the kids have today.  (obviously)

Not always better either.   There's a reason why the GTA and CoD games always sell.  They are playable on most systems.  I still fail to see the attraction of Fortnie other that is can be played on anything.

Hi :) Saverio from HoRNet Plugins here.

I'm sorry you don't like our upgrade policy but keep in mind that when we release a new major version we always add features and we only require a small fee on the order of some euros (never happened to be more than 3,99€ yet) so it's not something that everybody cannot afford.

there is some plugin you bought that we then upgraded and you think it's not worth it? if you are willing em to let me know I'll be more than happy to improve and learn if we did some mistake.

Nice that you chime in. I may get all of your plugins someday even though I don't need them.  I like the no nonsense gui and willing to trust the end user with no authorization scheme and no installer.   I also like you are willing to allow negative reviews on your site.  Keep up with the youtube videos. I think that is great marketing.

This was the first time I've ever come across this criticism.

    I wouldn't know. In solidarity with Larry, I don't read KVR! 😏

Nice. That thread on KVR is super negative and infused with too much drama for my tastes. Much more level headed crowd over here. I actually registered on here just to participate in this thread!

At this point I don’t see it going all the way by the current deadline. There’s really no motivating factor now. It’s ALREADY an amazing deal. Can’t imagine there are many holdouts at this point. It’s all a matter of getting the info to people that weren’t aware of the deal in the first place.

You wont find an IK fan club on KVR.

    I check KVR every day.

  6. If I build another budget system it will be one of those AMD 6 core, 65 Watt systems that comes with a cooler.  With the insane cost of graphics cards I wouldn't rule out a CPU with it built in.

Super duper systems are really nice for bragging rights and for those who rely on them for income but I haven't really starved out my older 4790.

When you do this as a hobby somewhere you need to get a grasp knowing you aren't going to do 400 tracks but I guess it's there if you need it.  It's like knowing you'll never be good enough at guitar to where you will play in front of people but yet get a high end PRS.

There was a person on another forum who built a new system and spent more time running benchmarks instead of load the DAW and do what you normally do.

Software development is not so great these days and some could put even high end systems to a crawl.

I don’t like how they charge for upgrades. It’s like buying the same plug-in over and over again.

You must be thinking of a different developer called Waves.

  8.   I decided to remove many programs I never used.  I wasn't paying attention with Revo and found out all of my plugins were removed but weren't uninstalled.  That was good and bad since I wanted to remove stuff I don't use.   I was surprised somehow I gained back  30gb of space.

My Product managers said these were installed but no VST folder on my drive.

The 2 worst product managers for me are Toontrack and Native Access.  Well there is also Waves.

Native Access - it's a crapshoot if a product update makes it. When it fails I know they have their own untinstaller but I usually open up the old Windows Installer Clean Up utility.  You realize NI has an overkill of registry entries.   Their installers are quite slow.  Plus you don't have access to older installers in case something really goes bonkers unless you download one of the Komplete ISOs.   They have yet to ditch most of the 32 bit versions of their plugins. If you delete those it will ask you to reinstall and some of those plugins can't be updated unless you install both 32 and 64.

Toontrack  - this is another one the enters a lot of registry code.   Unfortunately I haven't been able to undo the mistakes.   So far I can't reinstall EZ Drummer 2 becuase Windows Registry blocks it and does it in safe mode.  I went through the usual search for fixes and so far I haven't been able to fix this registry problem.  Odd that I could install the 32 bit but get this registry error for 64 bit.   Oh but I couldn't uninstall it. So I've removed Toontrack off my system.  I'm sure life can go on without it since I have BDF, Melda, XLN, Komplete, and UJAM.  That is only for this secondary computer.    There is no demo for EZD3 to see if I could install that.   EZ Keys rarely gets used either.  I might be done with Toontrack.   It's annoying trying to find the reg key and attempt the special permissions nonsense.

I like the VSL manager since you can remove the product and install again.  Izotope does the same thing.  I can also go online for the individual installer. Melda's is really nice if you have everything.

Spitfire and Waves gets a thumbs down.  Off course the Steinberg eco system I loath.

If you REALLY want to show your gratitude...find a good charity and donate.
I have finally made it out of abject poverty into mediocre poverty, and am VERY
grateful, so find a GOOD NON-PROFIT and donate to it, or to a poor family you
may know!  THAT would be the ULTIMATE way to show your gratitude!
And if you know of a REALLY GOOD CHARITY (NOT a Political one), then
post it here for others to donate!  It's time to help those less fortunate than
ourselves!  Charity (love) covers a multitude of sins!

If we avoided most of your posts and this section in general many of us would be further away from poverty. 😄

I see.  My apologies for the asumption. Actually it was more of a general comment than personally directed at you. Probably I should have clarified, my apologies again.

Anyway, I would like to ask, because I am not sure I really understand what you meant there. I fail to see what is the relation between wanting to reduce the amount of plugins and which format they actually are.

Workflow.   Bandlab and Reason are the slowest in scanning.  It also eliminates choices of the same plugin in the menu.

  11. 1 hour ago, Jeslan said:

I am not sure why there are so many people believing VST3 = better.  As far as I know the truth is that it's the opposite, VST3 is a mess. It's true that sidechaining it's easier and handled better than in VST2 (where there was no official implementation for sidechaining), but apart from that VST3 is incomplete at best. On one hand it lacks all the features VST2 had, some are simply not implemented, and others are not complete. On another hand it is a big pain in the ***** if you are forced to port a VST2 plugin. That's why a lot of developers (like u-he) even if they offer VST3 versions they don't offer all the functionality the VST2 versions do. The very same way VST3 hosting is either completely implemented in every software so there will be features not working or unexpected behavior.

So in the end I think it's waaaaaaay better to use VST2 versions for plugins that were originally developed for that API and use only VST3 ones when they are new plugins already developed on VST3 and with no VST2.

I am aware though that maybe this has changed very recently now that Steinberg is enforcing VST3 to everyone (although I doubt it though, at least yet). It will improve in the future, that's for sure, but probably it will take at least two more years before going for the VST3 versions be a better idea.

I'm doing it to reduce the amount of plugins if they are FX plugins.   There are synths are still vst2.

Yes, a sub. This is why I went with SmartScore64 Pro instead. They have a substantial discount for Final users.

While that one is probably the best out there it's too pricey for me.  They still ship the product. Pretty stone age to me.

Still no one has answered will it still work if I don't upgrade.

  13. I liked their simplicity but I deleted them when I discovered Kilohearts.

I'm tempted to install these again but many of them go back to 2012.  I'm doing a vst3 makeover and don't really need a DAW scanning 50 more plugins. If you are a plugin hoarder by all means go for it.  BTW that bundle is the same price I paid back in 2014.

For Apple users, it seems it's not M1 native yet. I'm still on Intel but hesitant to buy new plugins or upgrades until compatibility is added, or at least committed to. That is notthing against propellerhead, just a thought since another manufacturer recently placed M1 compatibility behind a significant paid upgrade.

I know Reason isn't unique in not being m1 native, but we are now one month away from the end of the 2 year platform transition that Apple announced in 2020. I am on the perpetual license path, but isn't this supposed to be a big justification for subscription software, that developers would have the resources and requirement to keep the software current?

of course, porting and validating all of Reason is a much bigger undertaking than a single plugin.

The problem is they are into creating more instruments than working on the DAW.  Those on Windows have went back to v11.   I have to wonder if they will exist 10 years from now.

On their website it says 1 year license, so yes…

Roboform and Revo also have one year licenses.   The software still works just no updates. I wonder if the software stops working after a year.
