  1. Live's browser went downhill after Live 8.   If you have other folders added to the browser it scans them with that little circle spinning. It reminds me of Gigastudio.

The more folders you add the larger you Live app data gets because of it's db file.

I'm gonna try making something using only their synths.  I went thru a few presets of Analog that I liked.

I always buy the Udemy tutorials by Jason Allen and he goes through the Suite with enough info on each instrument to get you started without boring you to death.   I think the intro to Live 12 is free on Udemy

Really though, how far is a discussion about a product derailed by talking about whether it's worth the money to upgrade to it from an earlier version and comparing the company's upgrade policies to similar companies'?

First glance review: I coughed up the $19 for Sigmund 2 and consider it a worthy purchase. The factory presets for Sigmund have always been strong, and there are way more of them. In an existing project where I was using a Sigmund preset, I swapped in Sigmund 2 and had no trouble locating the same preset in Sigmund 2, so either they are compatible or they went to the trouble of duplicating the sound of the old presets in the new product. The visual arrangement of the modules is clearer as far as signal flow. The UI is now resizable and there is a VST3 version.

I haven't delved deeply enough to know about the other new features, but the ones I mentioned are enough to make the product worth the $20.

If you, like me, can never get enough Glitchmachine-y Unfiltered Audio-ish soundbendering plug-ins, you'll drop the price of a Burger King meal on it and not regret it.

They use to do group buys. It was on KVR that I first heard of D16 and asked why people were so into that group buy.  Oddly enough without resizable GUIs we look at bigger screens but the software looks small.  We get hi res screens only to sit closer.

I loaded Ableton 12 on two computers, both running Windows 10. A desktop running winpro and the other running the home version on a lappy. No issues on either one that I can tell so far.

The only differences I noted was my desktop loaded a new C++ version before it loaded everything else. My other computer didn't seem to have done that.

The new file setting will take some getting used to. Not sure if it "seen" all of my plugs and instruments at this point.

For me that would be a blessing.

Tempted as I love(d) Trash 2 but I fear this will be bundled in the next Komplete Standard and I will regret buying in.  Also not really wowed with the scaling back of features.

The $29 for me is worth every penny to avoid using Native Asshat

I own multiple Everything Bundles and my price to update (even though it SHOULD be free) is $29

Shows full price for me.   Outside of the name Izotope on it not sure it's really worth it.   Will this be other other head of the 3 headed monster that I will slay,

D16 is free updates perpetually for minor releases though, whereas this is a major release and without WUP, Waves wouldn't even give you minor updates for free.

D16 provides support indefinitely. Waves will not provide any support without active WUP.

D16 can always be transferred and for free. Waves you can only transfer to someone else if you have active WUP. Not sure if they charge on top of that too.

D16 can be used on multiple machines perpetually. Waves only provides 2 seats at most and you lose the second seat once WUP is inactive, so if you have a DAW and laptopsl for a mobile rig and don't want to constantly move a USB key around, or deactivate on one machine and reactivate on the other one all the time, then you need active WUP.

I would rather free major releases too though from D16. Maybe even just the next version free and then paid for versions after that. Discounted updates would also be great and sounds fair to me.

But when it comes to sucking, Waves and their WUP and archaic ideas cannot be outdone 🤣

Oh that's right. Derailing a thread is mandatory.

BTW I still have that offer for Lush 2 for 39.  I don't need another synth,

  7. If you have an old Intel processor you have a better chance.

I'm pretty sure my i7 4790 will work.

I also have an old AMD FX series that will not work.

Everything is becoming "apple" like with hardware.

There's that DAW named Reaper which will work on almost anything, even Linux.

I don't think the world will end if people are still stuck on Live 11.  Ableton will still update it which puts them in a league by themselves.

  8. Some had to get a refund because their processor doesn't support AVX2.   everything is getting "Apple like" with hardware.   Casual users are into the if it aint broke don't fix it with hardware.   Those are shoes not everyone walks in to understand.

Okay,  I cracked up at with that.  It's not my style to communicate with people that way, but it's certainly not worthy of a ban. All they had to do is tell you no name calling. Sorry about that.

It was their app and not them.  Maybe thin skinned and faulty developers go hand in hand.

That is how I understand what he wrote. I'm just surprised they would ban him and wondering what the heck would have resulted in the ban.  @kitekrazy,  as you brought it up, would you mind sharing at least, at a high level, what was it that resulted in NI banning you from their forum? If it was merely criticism of NI's products, that's pretty problematic.

I called Native Access - Native Asshat.  I also told them kindness was exhausted after so many issues with it. You'd be surprised on that forum the problem solving is not from developers but users.  That's pretty sad.

I have yet to roll a 3of3 flawless Access installs.  The failure of installation is random.

They did not fix the NTKDemon issue in 3.9.

It's hard to be civil when a good company is eventually turning to crap.

It's obvious it's not just me that has the issues.   Others are angry when support posts the usual annoying links everyone has read.  Users spend a great deal of time trying to get Access to work.  Access is also a forced update. That is a no no.

All of this just to change the paint and mimic iTunes.  They are not the only ones going that direction. They are the only developers where their distribution software is faulty.   Unlike others if that fails you can download the updates from a website.  With NI you have to contact support.

The problem with developers is they want the money but never want thick skin to deal with complaints.  I know you've been there.  Not dealing with a users anger and criticism tends to make more enemies than friends.   The only person I've ever seen do that is Scott from Image Line.  He's good at handling pissed off people.  He doesn't threaten them by knee jerk banning.   BTW id you are banned from NI you just register again with a different user name and email.

Sometimes I think I should've. I saw this TikToker who uses no plugins, just Ableton Live stock instruments and effects and he makes much better music than me. Maybe because he spent more time actually making music rather than chasing plugin deals, and downloading and installing plugins.

From all the plugins that I got I only really need and use around 5%.

I think that's what Live users who use it live for the EDM crowd do.

  12. Just got banned from NI.

If you want to be a developer you have to take the good with the bad.  There's no shortage on the web to escape criticism.  The good ones try to turn enemies into friends.

My new hobby is tagging all my plugins. I have way too many 😭 As I go through them all, I see some that I don't even recognise by name. Often I have to look up on the internet to find out what it actually does. That's the downside of hunting deals and freebies.

Imagine using a DAW in its proprietary state.

  14. I have no clue what I did but now it works.  The browser seems to have issues.

Now I can look forward to find out which Max4Live devices I bought from developers are broken.

Trying to fix software on my systems seems to be a new hobby.  I'll get bored if something actually works.

Strange. They show up here. I've got 12.0 for Windows (Build 2024-02-19_5094b92fa5) installed.

Do you have previous versions of Live installed?  They exist in Live but not in the browser.  The folders with the presets will launch them or a project file. Others are having the same issue.
