  1. Thank you for contacting Intel Technical Support.

We received your inquiry today and I understand that your unit is showing an error when running the Quick Diagnostic Scan using the latest version of the Intel Toolbox and also using a third party tool. We will be more than happy to look for a solution.

For us to better understand your issue, please provide us with the following information:

Proof of purchase of the SSD.

Was the unit working fine before or it is a new installation?

How's the SSD being used? As a storage, boot drive or in a RAID Volume?

What is the Operating System used and its version?

Please remove the partitions and volumes from the drive with Microsoft DiskPart* and then test the drive again. (Disclaimer: Intel is not responsible for lost user data. Before you proceed, back up any important data on your drive). Here you can find the instructions: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022179/memory-and-storage.html

After the process is completed if the drive is still failling the test please open the Intel Toolbox and follow these steps:

1- On the home screen select the faulty SSD.

2- Click Export to save SMART attributes drive details and system information for the selected drive to a .csv (comma-separated values) file, which can be opened in a program such as Microsoft Excel*. You can save the file to any accessible location on your computer.

3- Attach the file to your response when replying.

What is interesting is what if you only have one system and the drive is your OS drive?

Full Compass (still) has no clue as to what's going on.

They haven't changed the Website (still says Pro X4 and SoundForge Pro 12).

They're saying it's going to take several days to figure out.

Magix rep is out of town until April 15th.

Should have just bought the Pro X Suite upgrade from Magix.

This just doesn't define service.  I'm waiting for the end of this story.

  3.  This is the first time in two months I was able to get something free and useful.

That Sonar one is a trial.  The Biotek one wouldn't let me register it since I would have to create a new account in Tracktion. I already have it.  As for the XLN, already have it and XLN isn't set up for duplicate licenses.

I'm a fan of D16.  I may use the coupon to buy something.  I already have a lot of their stuff.

  4. Maybe they realized that when people stopped getting vouchers they didn't come back.    There's so many EQ, compressors, channel strips, one can have.   Thorn for $79 is probably the most appealing one.

Back up, back up, back up!!!  And don't be surprised if your drive eventually fails, no matter what kind it is,

     ;)

My system is up and running again.  Who knows when Intel will get around to my support.  I don't do back ups often, but maybe I'll do it once a week. I think another way to back up is to have a spare drive just in case.

4 systems all SSD OS, one is from Corsair, another Intel, now a Samsung,  I have a Sandisk with a 10 yr, warranty.

  6.  It's kinda someone would try to steal a license that is on a dongle.  They could only get the installation files out of an account.

It may not always be hackers since web developers seem to have a higher level of incompetence and could easily toss out an account.

Me too. I always have this fear at the back of my mind that one day I will turn on my computer and the SSD will fail without warning.

HHDs can last forever.  I had to dig out my old Clevo laptop yesterday to do some recording (long story) - this baby is nearly 20 years old and it fired up Windows XP as quick as W10 - recorded non-stop without a glitch in Sonar 8.5.  Only bummer is that it's all in 32bit and I can't upgrade it.

I still have a collection of IDE drives in enclosures. IDEs seem to last forever.  In this system with the bad drive I have  a WD 500GB running via a SATA adapter.   I've had the best luck with WD Blue drives and had to RMA WD Black drives but those bad ones went bad within 6 months.

Did you get any warning that it was about to fail?

This is probably my only gripe with SSD's - they seem to suddenly fail without warning.

At least with HDD's they start to get noisy and/or you start getting bad sectors showing up.

No. The odd thing was a day ago there was this slight hum and it was not audio related. I also run diagnostics every week.   I use Seatools but after the crash the Intel and WD app caught the errors.

I was able to recover the drive by using a drive dock on another system with Acronis.  Funny how bad drives seem to appear on external devices.

I think a new rule for me is if your OS drive is a SSD buy an extra drive.  No RMA is fast enough for me.   I'm going to Best Buy and get a Samsung and wait for this Intel RMA.  This EVO 650 500GB is $80.

I'm surprise this Intel failed. From now on it's going to be WD since most of their drives are now 5 years.  I had to RMA WD platters and WD sends you a replacement and you send the other drive back.

This is the first OS drive that failed for me.   I don't have 100% faith in SSDs and would only buy if the warranty is 5 years or more.

  9.  I watched the more extended video and changed my mind.   I'll wait for the prices to drop on the individual ones.    If one is for Kontakt bloat and interesting instruments I would suggest the HG Sounds group buy for $20.

You may have too many plugins if ...

    - you have some that you've never figured out how to use

    - you've accidentally purchased a plugin you forgot you already had

    - you have bought any "every plugin" bundle from any vendor

    -  you still think that a "musical" EQ or compressor is a real thing, and you just don't have it yet

    - you have more than one tambourine and/or cowbell library

    - you have more than one convolution reverb

    - you have ever been mesmerized by a Dan Worrall video, AKA Hypno-Toad

    - you are trying or have ever tried to keep up with bapu

Next is the never ending collection of under $20 Kontakt libraries that are cinematic or synth emulators.

With 2300+ plugins being scanned (after the initial reinstall scan of course) I'm usually looking at all of 30-45 seconds on a first boot of the DAW for the day. After that, on the same day, about 15-20 seconds. Painless.

    FWIW I don't drink coffee.

     You're a lightweight.

I have no experience with VSL or this package, but I'm looking for an orchestral VST.  Granted this hasn't been released yet, do you have a sense for how this might compare (based on size, comprehensiveness, etc.) to Albion One?

You will need an eLicenser dongle.   The drawback to VSL is you will have to pay to get your licenses back if you dongle is damaged or lost.   The other option is to pay their mob protection fee for 2 years which is more than buying 2 dongles. Don't invest too much money in their libraries unless you are getting paid for your work.  Their fan base is dwindling.

"...no discounts will be given if you own some of the bundle-plugins already."

Not good for people like me, who already have lots of PA plugs  🙁

Also if many of the plugs are included in different packs getting 2 or more of them without further discounts looks silly. Isn't it? 🤔

Ha!Ha!Ha!  You probably thought only IK did that.

I thought about buying one of these back in the early days. But damn they wanted way more money than what I thought it was worth. Looking back now, what a fool I was!!  The money I would have spent on that would have saved me so much in frustration and work arounds. Also given me much better results than what I ended up with. Hind sight is everything!

    Sorry for going off topic.

Yamaha SW1000XG was $500.   Drivers weren't the so much as not being able to run on a nForce 2 chipset or Intel 900 series. The latency on them was 32ms by default Outside of a wind or string instrument I'd never buy anything with the Yamaha name on it.   They are too quick to create legacy products.

Linux has its advantages, but usability isn't one of them. Yes, there are 'easy' distributions like ubuntu but they become more difficult once you try to do anything system related. I was using ubuntu 16 LTS at work previously, and it was ok until I needed to update some apps or configure system permissions: yes the app is in the software store, but it was often an old version; you had to add the app creator's repository to your list of repositories, update them all, check them for updates, and install all through the command line. Web sites would often show you which commands to use so I could copy/paste, but the whole process just felt difficult for what it was (or at least to me).

That pretty much how I sum it up. The delusional Linux user would disagree,

Yeah, the SW1000XG uses the same audio recording drivers as my DS2416 cards. I used to check the ALSA site too, but I've given up hope.

It would need input from Yamaha, and they will no doubt refuse to make the needed technical details available. I'm part of an 01X group on Facebook, and a similar thing happened there when trying to get info on re-writing the 01X drivers. Luckily one of the group members managed to hack the existing drivers to work with Win 10.

Yamaha is the king of doorstops.  For what I paid I could have bought a RME Hammerfall that would still be running,
