Thanks antler. Yes. There's clarinet, and flute. At lower velocities they have a more "textured"  sampled tone.

Hi Larry. Firstly, thanks for listening. The samplist performed an arco technique across the strings (which in its self would be scratchy). Then pitched them high and processed them. In addition. As you add notes at the lower end there is a build up of noise. I think if he had NR them. Such artifacts may have gone. But still interesting tones. Many thanks 👍

With the big update to the Pianobook site. And the new samples available. I've written a little piece to illustrate the sample set "Harmonic Flights" by Sage Reynolds. A set of high harmonics from a double bass. Pitch shifted and treated. Plus some British Drama Toolkit from Spitfire Audio.

You can't use samples derived from S+S synths (copyright).  And anything that would have rights ie.dialogue, filmscore, etc. People are banging traffic signs, cutlery, false legs. Sampling their guitars, pianos, cellos, burps etc. It's now possible to alter with outboard and within an application beyond recognition.

FYI There was a major update to the Pianobook site yesterday to V3.  Easier navigation, interaction, review system, forum, etc.

Pianobook was started by Spitfire founder Christian Henson. It is a site where you can download for free. samplepacks for Kontakt ( full, not player), Decent Sampler, SFZ, EXS24.

All instruments are uploaded by members for use without restrictions. There are currently 650 instruments available. Ranging from obviously Pianos (in various tastes from felt, upright, processed),  Synths, Orchestral, Ambient, Experimental. And downright odd.

It's a huge resource for free. And worthy of your time. Members are encouraged to submit there own samples (I'm going to try and sample a West African Balafon, and Kora I picked up when encountering  music out there a very long time ago).

I can recommend this. Got it at Loot a few weeks ago (for more than this 🙄). So the current deal is a no-brainer. It's easy to start fiddling with and making your own presets.  It varies between that Spitfire "on the edge of silence" to more bombastic. Importing your own samples is easy. And opens it up even further. I've used it on "Scandi"- British Drama Toolkit style stuff that it fits very well.

I've compiled all the demos I have done in the last 2 years for the Pianobook project. Into an album for free download under a Creative Commons Licence. On both Bandcamp and Jamendo.

I have to say. I find posts such as this quite frustrating. There seems to be an expectation that if the software is free (seems most who post with similar complaints did not have to cough up the money in the past that many of us had to do), then every aspect should be as easy as possible after all, "its free".

Since we have had in app activation. I have never had to instigate an activation. Simply because at the rate the Bakers are working at. You will never get to 6 months before having to do so. At the current rate every couple of months just by updating you get an automatic activation. I have deleted the Bandlab app from my PC due to this (and no longer have issues updating).

Sorry for the rant. With nearly 50 years experience in music making from hobby to No1 International hit. Things have never been easier, better, convenient, affordable than they are now.

The one that got away........Spitfire Audio BF 2 years ago. The "Ton" which included British Drama Toolkit, EDna Earth, and a piano. I was working away and got my dates wrong. Have cursed ever since.

Some advice please. I am looking for a solo cello. I have the Ben Osterhouse Cello Textures and it's great. But the longs are too short !. So looking at 8Dio Studio Quartet Deep solo cello. Or Adagio Cellos that contain both ens, Chamber and solo. My budget is loooooow. Hence at 55% off. These are affordable. Does anyone have experience of either of these to feedback on. Thanks !

I clicked on the Download All in the upper right on the google drive page. Perhaps that was the issue.

Bit of info for all. Once ordered, you have to wait for the file to be zipped before you can d/load. So it may seem as if it's it frozen. Just have to be patient. It is 2GB so dependant on the demand I would guess.

Agree, bloody Google took ages. However will put up with it to have these freebies.
