Worth a look.  I've been waiting for Loc-Ness to be posted with "today's pricing" for some time.  Never looked at it "in depth".  (Pun on the loch).   I have been in impressed with Beatskillz and Tone Empire,  and notably the sound and results of the Tone Empire plugins.    Good to know about this sale.

Edit: in fact just listened to the YouTube examples and it does sound pretty good - or tempting at that price.

When I click the check for updates button on the Studio One opening dialog screen, or click that update action, it installs the latest version of Studio One and everything that entails, and deposits the installer application with that version of the changes in my downloads folder.   So, no extra steps needed to archive previous installers (other than to save that downloaded installer file to some drive.)

I like the original Finisher.   I haven't given this Voodoo a close listen yet.  The one demo I heard I actually didn't like any of the presets the person was fumbling through.    I like UJAM as a company a lot, I think they are coming out with great stuff, easy to use, super easy to understand interfaces that look nice, with excellent sounds.   

In my case especially, the Virtual Drummer series has had an unexpected upside in that it works supremely well with my Roland TD e-drums.  Literally plug and play and sounds great.  After I record the drums I can simply tweak sounds in the UJAM  virtual drum, or easily move or copy the drum midi to other drum VSTs for additional or alternate kit sounds.  But I digress.

This new Finisher - the thing that causes me pause is that it's all guessing.  You have the modes (that you can get a feel for) and then 150 presets or so.  As we don't know what's behind those presets, it ends up as either a great happenstance that you find one that suits the piece you're working on, or a bunch of wasted time clicking through the presets hunting for ideas.

It's totally different than approaching the idea of adding an effect where in your head you're thinking, hm, this could use some delay.  And start tweaking on a delay effect.   With this you're thinking, hm, this song could possibly use one of the 150 mystery Voodoo presets.  Well, I'll go through the list and burn up some time.

With that critique aside, because UJAM is a clever group and have these mystery sounds in these presets, I'm sure the benefit is when you match up a sound from this new Finisher that fits the song it probably will be a very cool effect that you likely never would have come up with yourself. 

And they do save a lot of steps in that they combine so many effects behind the scenes into these presets that from that regard, if you have a good preset selected, it's a time saver.

So, great presets (yeah!), but exploring them per time of use kind of takes energy.

I'll probably get it, but a bit apprehensive about the prospect of diverting time from actually working on my songs.

I think updating every other version or (or maybe every other two versions) of the collection offsets their unwillingness to give their existing customers a loyalty price break.

V8 will appeal to me - especially assuming this will be included.  I skipped V7.

I was watching Davide Carbone introduce the capabilities of Scaler 2.0.  Along the way in one of his YouTube clips he briefly brought up Carbon Electra for a patch - and it sounded nice in that spot.

I'd heard of Carbon Electra, but never paid attention to it.   Today I reviewed a few of the YouTube clips on Carbon Electra and it really has quite a good sound, and it's possible to dial in some cool attitude.   In the explanations it's mentioned that all the settings are on the one page which seems nice. 

Although I need a new synth around the same degree as I need a new reverb or compressor or EQ (meaning, I don't need another one at all), this one seems very worthy. So I grabbed it.

Not a screaming deal - but it is on sale at the moment at Plugin Boutique.  For $59 I picked up the bundle which is Carbon Electra and 3 expansion packs.

I'll top it off to say that Scaler 2.0 looks like a must have, and Davide who is behind Scaler 2.0 is also behind Carbon Electra.

I have Spaces II, Pro-R, all the iZotope ones, the Waves Gold ones,  the T-RackS ones, the NI Komplete and Raum,  the Steinberg stuff,  the Arturia freebie, many from the Best Service collection, Eventide 2016, and about 50 others I can't remember off the top of my head.   Plus some weird ones like Blackhole. 

Call me crazy, but I'm getting close to ready to call myself covered, reverb-wise.    I admit I do not own any Vallhallas yet, so fire away.

I have the Korg packs, including the recent Triton update.  I do really like the sounds.   The previous UIs for each while really old and clunky did work and got me to where I needed to go.

I'm really enthused about upgrading to the new GUI.

I don't know if I have the heart to do the free upgrade though.  I remember the install process as being super convoluted, painful and a real gauntlet to get through.  I'll probably do it, but I have to muster up the will power.

I had wanted Radio previously, but never got around to it.  So this is great news.  Thanks Larry!
