  1. I listened to the Venus Theory intro on it. I think I’ll repurpose my dubious $9.99 for PSP Hertz Rider to help subsidize this while it’s at the intro price.  Sounds like it has some useable and unique character possibilities to use in songs.

  2. I think I may finally capitulate at this price.

(Maybe. Still determining if it has any potential application to songs I work on. Kind of dubious about that.)

  3. Maybe it's because I've bought Eventide plugins as one-offs during sales.  Although I like and use their plugins, their update process is tiresome.  Years ago Arturia had the same issue for me.  They would update and then one by one I would have to download and install each item separately.  Then Arturia caught up with the modern era and created their Software Center to manage it all.   Eventide (for me anyway) is still in the one by one install scenario.  I haven't seen a single app to manage their plugins and updates.  It would be nice if there was one.

Hi Reid, sorry to hear that you're having issues.

Really doubt if it's NI related, sounds like you may have had one of those system updates that change your computer's hardware ID.
Always a major pain in the rear when this happens.

Probably just a bad coincidental timing - you're running late for an appointment, your burn your toast and then the car won't start. Not the toaster's fault.  Probably not the Komplete Kontrol upgrade's fault either in this case.

Sounds like that to me as well.  I moved to having a USB dongle - several companies take advantage of that - including Waves, Overloud and Black Rooster.  I already have an iLok dongle. In any case, this was prompted (and was the remedy for)  an experience similar to yours.

Speaking of Howard Smith, it appears he has just released a new item…

I haven’t looked yet but I would think this might be available within the BF window and pricing.

This just appeared in the Reveal store. Still available at BF pricing at $9.98.  Good value!

  6. The sale  window is probably closing at some point at the Reveal store.  But in looking for some additional super affordable additions for Spire I came across this one.  Michael Oakley kindly talks a bit at the intro about Spire and about how he approached this particular set.  I like it.  Pretty great value for anyone with an interest in retro.

  7. Speaking of Howard Smith, it appears he has just released a new item. At 4:11 in this clip there’s a patch that sounds like it is begging to be in a song.

  8. Everyone has different tastes so suggesting examples from Spire preset packs may suit or not suit your interests. I’ll just mention a couple to perhaps help anyone on the fence who hasn’t heard example Spire patches yet.

  9. I was traumatized by the installation and activation process. I think that was for collection 2 a couple years ago.  At that time the instructions were to go to two different sites and to use two different layered activation codes. It was awful and touch and go to understand. Once I got it working I lost the courage to upgrade.

    Thanks,
Guess I missed the VST3 update.
At the time when I picked this up it was IMHO the best Oberheim emulation.
Not sure how it compares with the latest generation from Arturia, Cherry Audio, etc.

Agreed!!  I’ve used this plenty and always liked the sound.  Not sure how it compares, but it contains great presets that are spot on for some very popular songs.

I wasn’t aware of this update so very glad to see the post about it here.

  11. John at Plugin Guru on his most recent Livestream (in the link below at the 42min mark) said he was going to offer Unify for $59 for the Black Friday weekend and encouraged to get the word out.  They've never reduced to $59 except for when they first introduced the product several years ago.  So I'm helping him amplify that message here.   If you don't have Unify yet, it's a heck of a lot of capability and sound capabilities for a very low price!

Sonic Academy Ana 2 has a trial. This synth has lots of what you're asking, among other things ofc.

I think Fleer is attracted to nice UIs.  Sonic Academy’s Ana 2 ver 2.5 is a very attractive looking synth.  The UI is very appealing.  The sound is also very good. The number of preset packs for it is fairly limited.

  13. “Chill” is a word that comes to mind with a number of Spire packs.  They even have a category of preset packs in the Reveal store for Chill.

I’m also a huge fan of Rapid. It sounds great!  But like Avenger its preset packs are pricey.  The Spire universe (it’s like a universe with so many preset packs) is way more affordable.  The presets packs are pretty consistently full of very good sounds.
