Exactly. Like getting Hank Marvin's Apache sound. Based on this video, I created the attached Guitar Rig preset with Guitar Rig 5, but it worked fine in GR6 and works fine in GR7. On my Windows laptop, that file is located here:

    C:\Users\johna\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content\Guitar Rig 6\Rack Presets.

I had GR6 installed when I bought my new laptop. I just copied the file from my old desktop PC. There's an equivalent GR7 folder where you could also put it. GR7 found it here, no problem.

    Hank Marvin Apache.zip 5.06 kB · 2 downloads

I'm curious why he didn't use the AC Box considering that's more like what Hank used.

Also, does nobody get the concept of ducking their mic when they are playing?  It's so distracting to hear the sound of his unamplified guitar coming through his vocal mic.

  2. It looks like these presets are from

    • Mike Dean (hip hop producer)
    • Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park)
    • Nick Hexum (311)
    • Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz)
    • Serj Tankian (System of a Down)

This makes them a bit easier to find by clicking on artist in browser.

If you are into Waves WUP then Bitwig is for you.   I avoid this DAW.  I have too many DAWs as it it. In long term it's an expensive DAW if you are one of those people who can't avoid paying upgrades.   I know the yada, yada, you don't have to buy the upgrade but who has that discipline? I don't.

They haven't given me anything since v4 that I wanted, so where's the discipline required?

  4. One more thing Bitwig and I seem to have a disagreement on...

They seem to think a DAW should be a modular environment.  They are proud of every little component and modulator they add.

I want a DAW to make it easier to get compositions.  I think the main point of the DAW is to help me get compositions onto drive quickly and let my plugins worry about making sounds.

  5. There are a lot of things about Bitwig that are insanely unintuitive.  For example, I don't think anyone who's ever used Bitwig has figured out how to do tap tempo on their own.  (Worse, it was not in the manual)

Even more annoying to me is that they don't have the ability to preview midi clips to the current track.  You can preview a midi clip but it will only go to a sine wave generator.  This is kind of useless when trying to preview drum clips because instead of getting drum sounds you get meaningless atonal notes (at least they are in the pocket),

Other than issues like those, it does a decent job of filling in the place in my workflow where Project 5 used to be.  There are a few other things I like, such as how they handle instrument and FX chains and the ability to have these taggable is a big plus.

  6. My main DAW is a desktop with a decent interface.

However, there was a time where I would use my laptop to compose on during dead time, where I dropped one kid off at an activity and it's not worth it to do anything else but kill some time at a coffee shop.  In these cases I might not have wanted to lug around a spare interface and didn't have a ton of USB slots to spare.  On top of that I wouldn't want to bring my guitar with me and I doubt anyone in the coffee shop wanted me to sing, giving me no reason to need audio input.  In that case  ASIO4ALL was a perfect solution.

Maybe you need to update Analog Lab first. If you're using an older version it might not yet be compatible with the new free soundbanks, for example if the Minifreak engine isn't included yet.

I am current.  I needed to be to have been able to do my 3 line review of the new Minifreak soundsets.

  8. When I logged in it said I had 3 free freebies from the store but when I clicked on the Free link it only was showing.

Curiously there are 3 new libraries going for $29.99 each.  Hyper Rave, Inner City Soul, and Inward Universe.  Maybe the program got confused.  Maybe I did.

    What is SONAR?

SONAR is what Cakewalk by Bandlab used to be.

Sonar is the upcoming replacement for Cakewalk by Bandlab.

    Hope that clears things up.

A+Grade Audio now offers the three Massive soundbanks with 64 presets each for free :)

    https://www.a-grade-audio.com/free-presets

I feel a little sorry for him. According to his KVR forum post, nobody ever bought any of his Massive soundbanks. Massive is probably simply too old 🫠

Audio demos are not available on the site, but are still on his youtube channel.

I'll confess that I usually ignore free Massive presets because it is such an old synth that was never a favorite and in my experience there are a lot of crappy, lazy and underdeveloped presets for that synth out there, even being sold commercially.

The demos for these sound all right though.  Hopefully he will have better luck with his Serum and CS80 presets.

  10. I notice that they made the bonus soundpacks available for Analog Lab users.

All three of these are made with MiniFreak.  The fist one is Euphoric Grooves.  This is a pack for EDM sounds and it sounds fairly generic with the most simplistic programming of the three.  The second, Deserted Lands, advertises itself for dark soundscapes but could work for a moody pop or rock tune.  The third is called Synthetic Trap, but could be useful for a variety of styles.

While there are some useful sounds there, none of the three packs is going to get me gassing for MiniFreak.  There isn't a sound here that sounds like I couldn't have gotten it with one of the other synths I already have.

      • User preset banks picture can now be customized
        • This is not new in Pigments (I previously added images to my own and third party banks)

Yes you can, but it requires the manual step of moving your image into whichever directory it goes into.  It would be nice if they could have the images saved and imported with the bank in a way that requires no user involvement.
