  1. Nothing you are saying makes any sense. "Non-unreasonable" means reasonable.  In English there is no such phrase as non unreasonable .

We have stated how to hide the meters and how to display them. Creating a whole new topic about drag and drop has nothing to do with it.

Also when dealing with a program (Cakewalk) there are only facts there are no such thing as "alternative" facts.  Those of us that know this program understand this.

    Please refrain from posting nonsense.

Sometimes I like to make a distinction between capability and preference.  Not sure if this is of concern to the OP here, but it could be.  For example, I took the following to be about a preference:

Yet, another reading of it could be about capability.

With the Shift+F7 shortcut attempt, I think it is not-unreasonable to conclude that assigning a shortcut should work.

Not if your goal is simply to display the meters. The meters are there whether displayed or not. The shortcut is a quick way to display the meter options. Not the meters.

´Workspaces are okay - but Screensets I will never use - because...  I'm on Floating Windows 🤡

You think you are the only one that uses floating windows with Cakewalk? Not only do I use them but I use them on duel monitors. Screen sets work.

  4. You're talking ab out something else. Yes you need to expand the Inspector pane. I use a duel monitor setup and have the Console view on the second monitor.

You can show the meters by increasing the width of the track pane. You can also setup a screen set that will show or not the meters by switching one to the other. It is very quick to do this. There are also workspaces. I would look these up in the manual.

I forgot mention that you can have them horizontal or vertical.

  5. Yeah, try to put yourself in their shoes before offering them advice.  To a place where, to them, "Old School" is Taylor Swift or Beyoncé... 🤯

That is a funny and insightful point. 😄

The forum is full of old farts like us because forums are part of our era of the internet. My son laughs at my involvement on forums. His generation only uses forums as a tool or source of possible solutions to any issues they are having. Be it with a car or the refrigerator.  They find the odd forum buy entering a Google search for an issue they have and mostly just looking. Google brings up a lot of hits that are forums.

To actually join a forum you would need to be desperate for an answer. And many require a sign up process that you have to wait for a mod to approve. This forum I think your automatically signed into via the Assistant.

We are told we have 1  million users now. Probably most of those are well under 40 years of age. Out of that we only have a few people who answer questions on the Q&A forum.  The old farts.

I totally agree with John. Without the "old farts" I think any answers would be few and far between.  Further I have been working with Sonar/Cakewalk forums from the very beginning of the Sonar forums. That has been a long time but I was never "young" while doing so. I felt a need to help members get the most out of their DAW of choice. One big reason was because I actually read the manual. LOL

That is not a help file in the traditional sense. It is a link to the Cakewalk manual from the forum. A help file is downloaded with the program and accessible locally from within the program. It usually has an extension of hlp or dat.

    ID-10-T error ...I feel shame

There is no reason to feel shame. I posted this thread for the express purpose of letting the forum know it had been up dated.  Also to thank CW.  I come here every day and don't always notice every little change or notice that is up in the sticky section.  Thus I post to alert people about it.

What you have done is justify this thread and in that I truly thank you.

Okay, I live in a bubble. Had not even heard about Bandlab Cakewalk until Celemony told me they don’t even test Melodyne with SONAR Platinum any more. I’ve just been happily using SONAR Platinum with infinite updates. I’ve been a Cakewalk user for almost 3 decades, and always kept up with every upgrade, so this is a little odd.

But all that aside, now I need to know whether switching to Bandlab is the right thing to . I understand it’s FREE? That seems insane, and automatically makes me a little leery. I’ve always believed you get what you pay for. Furthermore, I’ve seen hints out there (since my antenna are now activated) that perhaps switching to Bandlab Cakewalk is not necessarily a positive move.

So I’d like to hear from those who’ve made the move. Recommended or not?

Also, one small issue is that one of my two Platinum installations is on a machine that can only be connected to the Internet with great difficulty. Does that figure in?

    Thanks for your input.

If you like Sonar you will LOVE Cakewalk. It will cost you nothing. And the assets you have with  Sonar Platinum will be used in Cakewalk.

  10. I am very aware of the online manual. I prefer a written manual. In leu of that a PDF version will do the trick.  Why you may ask ? I like to browse and read it at times I'm not using a computer.  Also I believe that Cakewalk didn't have to do this but they did. I appreciate it. And I wanted to highlight it for others who would like to have an up to date PDF of the manual.

Also Scook I have been working with this program and the forums gong back to when it first appeared and before.  You may forget just how long I have been around.

  11. How cool to have an up to date manual to include 2021.4. With all the additions Cakewalk a new manual was needed.  As usual who writes them has done an outstanding job. One of the  very best manuals for a DAW I have seen.  Thank you.

Edit to Add. A web based manual is very nice but it does not have the same aesthetics as a real book even if that book is a PDF

  12. Ample Sounds are meant to be triggered by a hardware MIDI keyboard.  They are good at being triggered by MIDI in a track too. How you get that MIDI into a track is up to you.  I have more than one hardware MIDI instrument. All of which can trigger an Ample Sound instrument. If you have a MIDI guitar it should work too.

Cakewalk has as its core one of the very best MIDI implementations around.
