I get your analogy, but I think it has room for depth.

Its a good suggestion that you're bringing forward, but at the moment there some high walls in the middle of this. We first need to break these walls down and be sure that it wont hinder/break the signal flow.

That was the example i was trying to bring forward. How will it fit in the signal flow. I'm really trying to picture, but i dont see a way around it. I can actually picture where it might benefit, but the signal flow it the issue. My idea on this would be with the sidechain processing as an "Input" Yet, that signal flow stands in the way everytime.

Not sure I understand what you mean.

    Take lanes:

Picture a room with a storage closet quick.

The "room" is the main track in this scenario whereby the take lanes are just the storage closet within this "hyperthetical" room of ours, where it stores the extra Takes of the original track. Lets imagine now this storage closet stores flamable liquids - will you be able to light a match (the effect) in there and keep the fire under control to prevent the room from burning too?

That's the complications here. Take lanes are basically just the storage closet in the room which is the main track and clip.

I was thinking an fx bin on the lane much as on a track and the ability to place it pre/post track fx (and maybe even pre/post PC?)

It will just be an extra duplicate option to the channel. Wont bring any changes.

Finally! God is good, he exist indeed. Every answer you've attempted to give me has been incorrect anyhow.

So, I do not see how this will affect me.

I've managed to reproduce the issue when the clip is close to zero, and you move 10ms right then attempt to move 10ms left.

It's now fixed for the next release.

    You're the best! 👍 Thanks a million.

the start time is coming back as a clip start of 0.0099999999 seconds rather than 0.010 seconds.  As it thinks this would result in moving to a time less than zero

Ah! Great insight knowledge to have and to apply on other areas such as with effect too. There are certain brand name delay and doubler plugins that has a similiar problem, but in a reversed/opposite sense.

Normally most delay effect will have a differnce of 0.1sec on their time start from the original source, but then theres the once that start exactly dead on the time (0.0sec) as the source clip. So this is really great ammo to have on these timebase effects - especially in use within a combination of modulators and delay effects on certain short audio sources such as a hat, stick, rimshot, snap, clap etc.

    Thanks a lot.

I have imported an audio track, and I would like to assign measures to it's existing beat so that I can add midi tracks with the same timing.  Is there a function in Cakewalk that facilitates this? I am searching through tutorials on here and youtube. Can anyone help?

Yep. Locate the signature key change box in the control panel. It should read as 4/4. By clicking on it, will open a little pop up window where you can adjust any measure to a time signature of your choice. In line with this would be to change your snap setting to triplets or dot notes too for perfect timing.

BTW, I just did a quick test, and did find it's not possible to nudge back to time zero, specifically, after nudging later from there. This actually rings a slight bell as having been reported previously. I'd have to search. Works as expected anywhere else in the timeline.

    Good for you! Well-done!

NOTE: The word "Musical" has a meaning. Knowing this bring knowledge and it helps to keep every tweak one does "Musical" in all its existance - and it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

Its the default settings. I have never changed this before - ever! Lol.

    2. What is your audio clip's time base?

I need to check this, it was something I had recorded myself.

But . . . It was doing it with a few different samples too. I made sure to triple check before reporting it. I'll have to grab the laptop quick - i'm in logic right now.

    Gimme me few seconds quick.

    EDIT:

@msmcleod Time base set to musical and Original time 00:00:00:00

    Ahhh!  In preference

Nudge 1: is on absolute 10 milliseconds

Nudge 3: in 2 Frames.  Both Absolute time on default settings.

Changed 1 to follow Nudge 3 as well. Thought it was the same.

    Problem Solved.

Yes, it looks like the way it is now, 47 completely closed tracks or folders fit on my monitor. But I would like the vertical size to be reduced even more, in the Logic Pro X, more than 100 tracks fit in the same size and monitor resolution, while the display of track names is fully preserved, this is very convenient.

I don't think it would be very difficult to do this in our Cakewalk, or am I mistaken?

    47 tracks'.png

I'll go check in the main studio quick where I use Logic Pro as well what exactly it is you mean. I do have somewhat of an idea, but that would mean the team will have to redesign a brand new scalable UI. Basically a new DAW to fit every available monitor small, large and wide. I have a 27 inch ultra wide 4K in the studio.

  11. If you can reproduce this - share your thoughts.

Record an audio track. This doesnt matter what it is - as long as its audio clips. You can even use a sample (track.)

Next: jump to the beginning/start and for visual purpose only - change your snap to a 128th note. Then  zoom until you see about 4/5 grid lines.

Lastly: Hit number 3 on the numpad to nudge to the right - which it will do, but wont nudge all the way back again when pressing 1.

    Can anyone reproduce this?

    Hi!

It would be great if to the Cakewalk was added the option to change (reduce) the vertical size of CLOSED tracks, similar to Logic Pro X, this would significantly optimize the main interface window when working with a large number of tracks. Even on my large 2560x1440 32" monitor, the number of closed tracks is very limited, and I have to spend a lot of time searching, batch processing, and moving vertically between tracks.

Thanks in advance, continue to enjoy my favorite program from the development team, thank you so much for your work!

    You mean like this?

These accidental changes are happening because controls of the Console View are responding hovering over mousewheel actions.

If there was option to activate the controls only after the selection, these accidental changes would not happen.

When you select a slider or knob, a rectangle is appearing around the control like this:

    image.png.b590d18a4cde5d2f4a52426693ab7668.png

I mean if mousewheel would respond only after that, it would prevent us to make any accidents on Console View.

This is the core of your problem. When it will be implemented, your problem will be gone and you won't care about that kind of accidental changes or need individual display changes anymore.

As far as the PC module goes. I cant remember when last I had used it.

👆 This implies to the PC gain and pan knob too.

Lastly: I dont see how your respond is relevant to this request on things we know of. This is about creating Custom Strips - as in a DEDICATED MASTER STRIP(s) to save with your default template and not whatever you have taken from reading here. What you are discribing (and what we all know,) is something entirely different to this request.

     HW output but really minimal.

No, to the hardware bus. That is of no USE basically when you have a Control Surface. That is why mine is always permanetly tucked away | and | not relevent as an example.

Yes, to your "Bus A" as an example to this as a"Dedicated Master Bus." You do not want to accidently have your mix bus, or your master bus be panned slightly to one side. That will mess up a perfectly balance, mix as i encountered earlier - before decovering the reason why it was.

47 minutes ago, Glenn Stanton said:

would you still want FX and PC available?

Yes, most definetly would i want the FX bin still available on these, but if the option is given to remove it too, why not? Personally, I wouldnt remove it. Cause the "Dedicated Master Bus" would be where I do my Mastering and the second one my Mix Bus. I always have 2 Mix bus strips and a Master Bus in the final project, with each having its own reason and use for. Like sometimes I would create a 4th "Mix bus strip" to do my overall parallel compression, if i feel it needs a little more | or | use it as a wet/dry saturation bus on the overall mix to create the perfect artificial analog sound. So this is where you would only want the Mute/Solo and interleave (obviously with the volume slider included) on the entire strip. More Flexibilty.

As far as the PC module goes. I cant remember when last I had used it. It too is permanently . . . uhmm . . . disabled? It's removed lol.

    Appreciate the +1.

Example: What I would like to remove on my "Dedicated Master Bus."

Question 1 - Is it possible to change the reference of the video source folder in the project?

What you can try out is go into the preference and under the FILE/Folder location try choosing a dedicated folder from there.

NOTE: I have never done this with video before, but i have done it for my Exported Audio Tracks and Track Templates. SO PLEASE! EXPERIMENT! with a demo project before you commit to the new folder location.

PLEASE! IF YOU DO NOT TRUST THIS, DONT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT.

Do these changes at your OWN RISK.

  17. The Track Control Manager and Module Tab in the console is a great tool to custom your strips, but it is not flexible enough.

I was looking for a way to remove only the Master Bus MSR buttons and the PC Gain,Pan - including the channel pan knob. Unfortunetly neither Track Control Manager, nor the Console Module Tab allow us to remove these buttons individualy per bus to create a dedicated strip as the "Master Strip."

Reason: I had just hooked my laptop to my Nuclear 2 (By the way: it works extremely smooth with The CWalk) Not sure what happened - though it was definitely human error, which panned the PC pan knob 4%  Left. This had me going through every channel and strip with an effect Aux and Bus strips wondering why the track is slightly playing more through the left speaker. I have never used the PC Bus Gain nor its Pan EVER, so i didnt think of looking there. Eventually my eye caught this issue and did a reset to "C" (center.) I immediately open the Track Manager only to discover

This little incident sparked this request to have these be removed per button and per strip. Example: I would like my "Main Dedicated Master Strip" not to have the PC gain, pan, channel pan, send module and the MSRW buttons on it | but | to only have the Interleave on it with my mix bus only the MS and Interleave.

Hope I'm not asking too much and that you see the flexibility and "Security" in this.

It happens sometimes that there is extra length in a song when exported. Sometimes I can't figure out why. My workaround is to create an arranger track that has one section that is the length of the actual song. If the selection is set to select all the data then all I have to do is click on this one arranger track & the data is selected. Now when I export using the selection as what is to be exported I get only what I want with no extra time in it.

Most common culprit would be a rogue automation node that got copied and pasted later in the mix with edits.

To isolate this issue, its always best to Ctrl+A and then do a Shift+L which will create your loop markers and tell you exactly where to look for it. Once located and deleted, repeat the above shortcuts before you export.

The export window should then give you the accurate time and length of the song.
