  1. Thanks Jim. Trouble is, Rupture was the only thing in the entire project: no other synths or FX. Something went screwy AFAICS. I was wondering if anyone else had seen it do this.
  2. I started a new project just to try Rapture. I finally sorted out a few things abut the EGs (different from DimPro ina few ways) and had it working. But then I noticed that 1/2-1 sec delay was occurring between the scroll in PRV and the notes sounding. I tried resetting the sound drivers from ASIO to WDM, which forced a re-calibration of my sound card, then back to ASIO. No go. I then saved and closed the project, and opened DImPro one. No delay. So I reopened the Rapture one and started switching off any FX in the Rapture interface, working from the bottom of the Rapture UI and going up.. In the end I got back to actually switching off the DSP routing and suddenly the delay went away. But now I am gradually re-introducing the DSP routing and other FX, I am not seeing the delay. I hope it was just a glitch and it won't happen again. But has anyone any idea about what may have happened? Thanks for any help.
  3. Hey people. Just in case I have not said this, I really appreciate all your replies and the forum is really great to work with. I have had a couple of bad experiences with forums recently, after the programme I was working with was taken over by a Corporate Firm.
  4. Ironically, it was the Synth side that was annoying me..or to be fair, a certain aspect of it! I was not specifically looking for a sampler. In my mind they are aimed at using sounds that I or somebody else, have sampled for the job, to create a new SF, rather then taking existing sounds from the web and making SFs. But TX16Wx looks as if it may suit some ideas have for manipulating various aspects of existing stuff, for expressiveness. By chance I dl'd T16Wx yesterday and I looked at it and quailed 🙄, given the re-learning curve I am already subjecting my self to. But I am going to have a look when I have settled a bit. Everything seems to show that it is very powerful (which can be good or bad.....if I want to write my music score, starting to manipulate SFs is not getting it done....but my mind is easily distracted by delving)
  5. OK! I will check that out. I cut my teeth on Dim Pro and always had an idea that Rapture was far more aimed at electronica than DPro (not sure why...probably laziness!). I admit I have never really tried it But yeah if it has that feature, then I will give it a good workout.
  6. Thanks for that! I did actually read help about this and missed that. Seems illogical to have the more useful option as the secondary one, but anyway, thanks again.
  7. Dim Pro and Rapture are both very powerful controllers of SF(x) files and their own programmes. BUT...trying to alter the values of particularly the Modulators, where you have to click and scroll and scroll and scroll, 1q/100th at a step, is a right royal PITA. Is there another way to do this? Help simply says to scroll. Or is there a sampler that approaches Dim Pro's power that does not require the tediousness of scrolling? Help appreciated

    Working on themes

Hey Paulo, thanks for the reply, Mate! Yeah the themes editing is WAY OTT....thousands and thousands of variables and HTH do you know what each one means? Even if there is a "language guide" you may as well learn a new ....language ... and I am glad it's not just me, or that I missed something. Tungsten did help in general (why do they use such a crappy UI as standard????) , but that was where I truck the Note Event problem. But yeah I was trawling heaps and suddenly up popped a post to a question, that said that NE colours followed Track colours (arrgh!)...it's that sort of spaghetti that these older, more and more complex and powerful, programmes suffer from.😠 I am sorry I did not post an update to this thread to let good guys like you know that I had found the solution: I had moved on to the Themes forum (did not even know it existed until then) and did post there about it.
  9. EDIT: ah..I see my question is not theme related (or not directly) but Track Colour related.... HI. I have posted a question about how to do one thing....change the colour of Note Events in the PRV. I have tried a few themes, some (all?) of them composed by you, I believe. I really like a couple, but my first problem is that the Note Events kn the PRV are (nearly) white on a white background. There was one that had a dark background, but if I selected some Note Events, their colour did not change to indicate that they were selected. You asked for requests for changes, so here I am. I am not up for developing themes, but if you could just lay out how I change those colours for selected and unselected Note Events, then that would certainly start me off on Themes I prefer to the Titanium or Mercury ones. Thanks for any help. Sorry if I am asking a daft question.

    Working on themes

Don't know if it's just my old eyes, but I struggle with the latest in UIs where it's all grey on grey, including sliders for panes etc. I _can_ use them, but would prefer more contrast as I find I can work faster and easier. So I started grabbing Themes. Some of them are quite startling, but very easy to discern various features. BUT....so many of them seem to have white Note Events on a white PRV background (my battleground of choice)!...and the alternatives all seem to not change the colour of any events that are selected. So I would like to either change the background colour of the PRV, or (preferably) change the colour of the Note Events, while being able to easily see them, bit unselected and to tell them easily from selected ones. I looked at the lists and lists in the Theme Editing section and quailed, then floundered, then eventually pulled my head into my shell and gave up: I am not about to start building my own Theme...I just want to write music. So could some charitable soul assist this grey old guy to just alter the colour of both unselected and selected Note Events in the PRV, please? Thanks for any help.
  11. K-Lite to the rescue! Thanks Klaus...a million.
  12. Hi Klaus from....Klaus . Ah yeah. K-Lite. I have successfully used that in the (dim and distant) past: I probably went through a process similar to this to learn about it, although maybe more protracted! There has been something of a hiatus in my music-making and video work. I will certainly give it a go.
  13. Exporting from Vegas as AVI seems to have done the trick. By habit I tend to avoid AVI because of file sizes, but here I am using small frame, low frame rate, poor quality, so it is not critical. Glad is was not just me! Thanks for all of the input.
  14. Thank for that info! I do not have WinFF, but I have other FFMpeg front ends. I will however see if my video programme (Vegas) can put out something that Cakewalk can read. I would rather avoid the extra rendering process time. I should not have to! I thought I was using Cakewalk to avoid all of this nonsense. Why can't they incorporate the capabilities of FFMpeg and get around this?
  15. HAH! Sorry for my humour. Not having a go at you, but I am struggling to just _see_ a video, let alone worry about 3d! When the time comes, I will take your comments into consideration.
  16. Thanks Matthew. Good grief! You gave up! This is retrograde stuff! I have done audio for vids in the past with CW, with great success. I will try AVI, just because I have always used CW/SONAR as my music maker. I am the sort of guy that will go for whatever works, but then I tend to turn away from what doesn't, even though I wish it would. That is even for other uses.
  17. Thanks msmcleod...oookay. So it's not just me. Wow! I have any number of converters from this to that format, some are renderers, some are "package changers". I have tried a few to get CW to work. IIRC this problem was not as bad years ago. I guess CW (BB or not) has not kept up. Seems to me that CWBB needs to fix this. There has to be a market for adding sound to video! If I can find a format that works, I do not need to convert it back: the video I use in CW would be a "time reference" only...the actual video would be simply matched up with the audio.
  18. I am trying to import a video to write music for it. However, I am getting very patchy results. Sometimes (mp4) the video will import and yet the Video View is a black screen. The next time I try (mov), I am told the video will not import ...and yet I have imported a .mov file once and it seemed OK. I have imported mp4 videos and they worked...no..._it_ worked once. I have no idea what works and what does not, or if it's the length of the video, the package, the CoDec used to render it, etc. I do know that M2TS (AVC and AVCHD) files are always rejected, but avoiding rendering to those has had no consistent results. All of these movies play fine in VLC and Media Player Classic. I am running around in circles. Can anyone start to guide me here, please? If I am limited to just one format of video, that I can rely on, that is fine: this is only for display while I make the noise required.

  20. EDIT: I just discovered that I had to click in the actual Thumbnail Strip and "Show/Hide Thumbnails" But is it normal that Thumbnails are hidden by default? Original question.... If I open a new project, then use File/Import/Video then import the required video, the Video View shows the video, but the Thumbnail Pane has written in it "Video Thumbnails are currently hidden". Thumbs are very useful when putting music to Video, I find. What is happening here and how do I fix it, please? Any help appreciated
  21. I have opened a new project and want to set up some music to match it. Trouble is, the Video Preview is a black screen and "Video Thumbnails are currently hidden" is shown in the track thumbs pane. The video plays fine in VLC player. Any help appreciated. EDIT: I tried to drop the video into the project. When I actually used the menu structure to import it, a video track was created and the video showed. 22. New free Cakewalk Version 2019.01 build 27, 64 bit. Win 7 Home Prem 64-bit I dl'd a skin from http://dimension.technetos.com/skin/zip/Dimensionpro-skin-whitefalcon-White.zip and changed the Resources folder to "Resources-standard" then dropped all the skin files into the Resources folder..... I _think_ it left me with the Dim Pro Program Browser ok, but I was doing a lot of experim....exploring....and I am not sure. Whatever....now I open Dim Pro and the Program Browser is empty. So I reverted to the stock UI (by replacing the Resources folder with a "Resources-standard" folder re-named back to "resources". Dim Pro worked again. Was it just that skin, or is this what happens? The stock UI is all blue ink on black background and sucks. Thanks for any help.
