I tried it in Standalone and it worked fine...I'll try with the VST
    later and report back...

I left a post on the IK Multimedia Sampletank forums and the moderator there has confirmed he was able reproduce this issue.  I am going to lodge a support ticket at IK Multimedia.

  2. Just a note that I think I may have found an issue with Sampletank 4.05.

Saving instruments appears to be broken.  It creates files that cannot be subsequently reloaded on the next session. Instruments saved with 4.04 load ok, just not ones saved with 4.05.

Can anyone with Sampletank 4.05 verify this?

  3. One thing you might like to check is head to Device Manager and expand "Universal serial bus controllers".

Right click on all devices that has "Root Hub" and then select properties.  Head to the power management tab deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Do this for all devices that has "Root Hub" in the devices name.

    This may help.

  4. The folder tree looks fine.

Maybe try going through all your IK products and reactivate them using IK Multimedia Auth Manager.....

ST4 itself seems to work fine but it will only let me use some of my ST3 MAX libraries (all of which work fine in ST3).

Remember, with ST3 you could only specify one location for the content.  With ST4 you can specify multiple locations.  I have the content for ST4 and ST3 (Though I uninstalled the ST3 player) and can see all the content from both products (as well as IK add ons).  I have two locations for the sound content specified, one for where the ST3 content resides and another for where the ST4 content resides. They are on 2 physical drives.

Go into the Settings and head to the Sound Content tab and make sure any folders that contain Sampletank content (which ever version) are listed there.  Then perform a "Rescan Instruments"

I want to convert midi to audio using a external roland juno di  synth and  session drummer but not the external out puts to in put on my sound card. Just through the computer.

First open (don't import ) your MIDI file in CbB.  Make sure the MIDI tracks are configured  to sent MIDI to the port that your Roland - JUNO-Di is physically connected to.

Then add your session drummer as either a simple instrument or even with multi outs.   Load your drum patterns or program the pattern as you usually do.

Then create an audio track.  Make sure you set the levels so it does not clip anywhere

Then,  while your MIDI data is being played, record your Roland - JUNO-Di performance onto that audio track. Preferably you would want to use ASIO driver mode to minimise latency.

Note: While recording your Roland - JUNO-Di performance, you might with to mute your audio track that you're recording onto.

I have done this a few times, but I use a Yamaha module and recorded its performance from MIDI files but the workflow is pretty much the same..

    Hope this helps.

I appreciate what Lenses do in theory, but I have yet to find a killer reason to use them. But Screensets can be really useful, especially if you can get by with 10 favorite screensets. Lock them , make them part of your default template, and learn them....that really does save time for me.

I never use the Matrix view, Loop construction, Video when I am programming MIDI files.  Nor do I need to even see the virtual keyboard.  I also wish to have my personal key bindings available in all lenses - so this is deselected in my all of my custom lenses.

This is the reason I find Lenses useful.  They enable me to hide these functions and elements that I do not use and therefore do not need to even see.

Of course, as mentioned, because I have deselected Windows layouts in my lenses, only screensets saves the various Windows layouts for my various projects.  I usually have about 4  - Track View, PRV, lyrics and drums.  I have also key bound these screensets to CTRL-Numpad 1 to 4 respectively.

I have written a small VB2010 program that automatically changes my default CbB lense to "MIDI sequencing" and then opens my MIDI project in CbB. The project opens, the correct lense is set, and project's screenset is also loaded according to what was saved in the project ready for me to resume.

In English version there's no 'Dock on'.   I think it's called 'Ease of access center', there's an option to turn off auto snap when moving a window to the edges.  I did this and it didn't make a different in CbB.  To me the various windows options are for managing multiple Windows.  The issue here is within that 'workspace' within CbB.

Within CbB, If you hold CTRL while dragging a window, the snap window feature (with the corresponding blue overlay) will be temporarily disabled.

Lens and Screen set always confused me. I do understand the concept but I think that there are a few quirks.

For example I simply want to do the below and have never been able to do it consistently:

For a single screen, I just want to use the keyboard short-cut [alt-something] to flip between the screen.  I want the console, midi, ... to line up where the track view is thus not I can still use the control bar, in my case I set at the top.   It's either docked or open but half screen with the track view, or maximized but cover the control bar.

So I float the dock and drag sizing the screen to where I want but when I switch screen, it almost always reverted back to dock or half-screen.  Then sometimes it sticks.

Would Lens or Screen (or both) helps me do the above?  Or perhaps a new option of 'fit to window' to allow the above.

I am wondering if you desetect "Windows layout" for the lense that you use.

Then arrange the windows how you want them to be. Then lock the screenset(s).  ( CTRL + SHIFT + L )

I mainly produce mainly 16 track MIDI files.  For this, I have one lense with "Windows layout" disabled.  In any given MIDI project, I have 4 screensets (Track, PRV, lyrics, Drums) that are relevant for my workflow. All these screensets are locked.  When I select a screenset, the windows reset as I have set them to per screenset as they are all locked.

It should already be possible to switch lenses without changing the window layout.

    1. Open the 'Lens Manager' (select 'Manage Lenses...' in the Lenses dropdown menu).
    2. Select the lens you want to modify.
    3. Uncheck 'Window Layout' in the 'Settings' section.
    4. Click the save button to save your changes.

Now, whenever you switch to the above lens, your window layout won't change.

As Noel mentioned, lenses are a superset of screensets. By following the above instructions, you're effectively turning off screenset functionality for your lens.

    Does that help?

Yes, that does help.  Thank you very much.  I'm kicking myself for not seeing this setting in the Lense Manager.

Now I can change windows layouts using Screensets only and save these with my projects.  I can also swap between different screensets.

I will still use Lenses as they give me the ability the hide screen elements that are irrelevant to my current workflow.

  11. I know what you mean. I too find it annoying that when you change to a different lense, the screenset reverts to "blank".  It does this even if you save the project while a screenset is active.  It would be nice if the screenset was recalled even if you change a lense.

  12. When you say "I have a live looper DLL", is this simply a DLL that is actually a VST that is available as an effect?  If that is the case, can you not create a new track and then insert the VST into that track's effect bin?

The only feature that I feel is lacking is the cross-communication between plugins of the same type (ala FabFilter and iZotope).

I think this is actually possible.

For instance, I loaded an instance of MEqualizer and an instance of MDynamicEQ.  I was able to copy the EQ settings from the MEqualiser instance to the EQ settings of the MDynamicEQ instance.

Is this what you mean by “cross-communication between plugins of the same type”?

  14. Does the Aria player behave correctly in standalone mode?  Can you load and save presets there?

I have a fully patched Windows 10 PC and I am not experiencing any of the issues you described.

When you say “I did have the computer crash about a month ago and it hasn't acted quite right since”, define “hasn't acted quite right”

  15. I would not have thought that the fact that you're running Windows 7 is the issue.  Upgrading to 10 just to see if this will resolve is a big step - especially if it does not resolve the issue.  Mind you, there are other positive reasons to upgrade to Windows 10 (fresh install of course).  However, that's a discussion for another day.

I never had this issue when I was running Windows 7 64bit either.  I use an external MIDI module so I would have heard notes if this issue occurred here too.

To me, this looks like a specific issue with the Midiman Midisport 4x4 itself (Are you sure you're using the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website) - even though it only manifests in CbB.

Notes should not be triggered when CbB starts.  The only MIDI data that may possibly be sent on start up would be sysex data.  This would be configured with the Sysex view.  In fact, on your start startup template, check the sysex view (ALT+SIFT 7) to make sure no sysex banks are set to AUTO transmit.  I am doubting it this though because you also say that you are getting note on data sent when you solo/mute/record/playback tracks.  That is really strange and something I have never seen in the twenty years I have been using Cakewalk products.

Are you able to configure the Roland XP-80 (or any of your other devices) to show you the specific values being sent through the MIDI ports?

It also might be worth dropping a note to Bandab Support to see if they can offer some insight.
