  1. I always back up my projects to an external drive like a flash drive or an external USB drive. There are also cloud storage services. Then you can remove your big project folders from your main HDD and free up space. Since you do all audio your folders will be pretty big but external storage devices are getting bigger as well (in capacity, not physical size). 😀John B.

You think like me politically. Your thoughts on the situations are pretty much like mine so you must be among the gradually declining class of people who still have some common sense and decency. And I did enjoy the Motown style horns. 😀John B. "Can't we all just get along"? -Rodney King
  3. Yeah, He should take the plunge. I agree. But who's problem is it if he doesn't?
  4. I didn't even know they made/sold those Soundblasters anymore. Why open your PC if you don't have to. There is an easier way. But Hey, if that's how the guy wants to fly who are we to say he's wrong? As long as it makes him happy........ 😀John B
  5. Speaking of decorum, it should be addressed how we respond to people who come on here to ask questions. I'm not naming names but there is one person who can be very abrasive in addressing posters who he believes are asking questions that (to him) aren't worth answering. Though he is very knowledgeable in matters that concern us here, common courtesy seems to be beneath him. So perhaps if we're addressing decorum we should add to always address people here with courtesy and respect and that no question is a stupid question. If you can't address somebody and answer their questions without common courtesy and respect please don't bother responding at all. 😀John B Oh, and I do believe it's proper to say thanks to those who help (although I'm guilty of not always doing that. I will try to do better😄)
  6. One will do what one wants to do. For once, we agree. But you make somebody feel as if they have no right to come on to this forum and ask a ("such as ridiculous") question. That's what is relevant to this thread. The OP had a legitimate question (just like I did) and you use an accusatory attitude on him (just like you did me). All I'm saying is "Be nice". You don't have a problem with that, do you?! "Amish rake fight". I like that!🤣
  7. And I told you that I was beyond TRYING Cakewalk by Bandlab. I had been using it for several months but because I was in the midst of a project ( which you also made light of) and didn't want to chance having the program freeze on launch (which other people were experiencing at that time with that update). I just was going to hold off updating until the problem was solved.
  8. Yeah. Like you accuse me of not doing my own "testing" a few weeks ago just because I posted a thread asking if an update was safe. You didn't bother to look at the entire context of the initial post. You just assume that I was lazy and expected other people to do the "testing" for me. Nothing was farther from the truth. I really don't like the attitude of some people here. We're supposed to be a community to help each other. You claim 30000 posts and tutorials, but you are obviously not much of a people person, are you? I'm truly glad I don't know you in the real world.
  9. Gee! What could he be hiding? Russian collusion maybe? Lighten up!
  10. While I agree with the assessment, the attitude is uncalled for. 😐
  11. I have the Scaler plugin. I updated from version 1.6 to 1.7 today. I installed 1.7 over 1.6 and now 1.6 (that has some chord data I wanted to keep) cannot be found. When I open up a project that I previously was working on before the update I get a "Missing Plugin" screen and in the Synth Rack View Scaler shows up as (Scaler). I can bring in 1.7 ok, but I was working on chord changes in 1.6. Is there any way I can restore the chord data that I had in 1.6? This is not MIDI data. If any of you have Scaler, it's the chord progression in the chord builder that I would like to restore. I asked over a Plugin Boutique and I though someone here might be able to help via the Cakewalk route too. Thanks. 😀John B.
  12. I was almost too embarrassed to post this (until I saw Chris Jones's post). 😀JB
  13. Yeah, many times I wonder if a belt or two would help my vocal performance. It would certainly make it more colorful.🤣 Your dart league record is also very impressive. 😀JB
  14. Exactly! Thanks! Do those Rode mics come with pop filters? 😀JB
  15. In my constant search for improvement of my vocal tracks I'm turning to you guys here. In short, what is your favorite vocal microphone? Doesn't matter if it's dynamic, condenser, tube condenser, ribbon or whatever. Any brand name. El cheapo or super expensive. Just the mic that brings you the most joy in your vocal tracks. Let's keep it vocal for now because that's all I'm searching for. Oh, and please, no standing on soapboxes with mini tutorials on all of the other variables in getting a "good vocal sound". I realize all of that. Right now, I just want microphones. Thanks! 😀John B.
  16. Careful asking questions like this. There are some among us who would accuse you of not doing the testing yourself. I asked a similar question about a month ago and "John" bit my head off.
  17. That's the way it seems to work for me. YMMV. 😀JB
  18. I just took notice to something. I have CbB installed on my bedroom PC too and they are ON by default. I must have it set up differently on my studio PC set up. I guess I need to check the Global FX setting on that one. Thanks 😀
  19. On John's first picture above, the ON/OFF button to the left of the FX (the circle with the vertical slash going through) is what I mean. I guess the particular theme I'm using has it red for off and green for on. I've seen it on other themes as white for on and gray for off. It's in the Pro Channel and on the busses. They are OFF by default. I seem to remember they were ON by default when I was using Sonar X3 Studio, mostly because I don't remember having to turn them on when I wanted to use them. It's no big deal to turn them on but I was just wondering if there was a way to make them ON by default. 😀JB
  20. I don't know whether I posted this earlier before or not. If I did, I forgot but it's a question I'd like answered so please forgive me if I'm repeating myself. When I create a new channel or buss, the little on/off button is red (off) by default. I remember in Sonar it was on by default. Is there something in Preferences that sets this? I'd like the default setting to ON (green) if possible. I'll try to remember this time (if I did, in fact, post it before). Thanks 😀John B.
  21. Aaahhhhh! False alarm. Never mind. 😑
  22. I like the song and all the performances and the arrangement. My only nit is it's a bit too long. The bridge is quite nice but IMHO it takes too long to get there. Also, I found myself wanting to hear a bit more bass. 😀John B.
  23. Thanks all who listened and commented. I've heard at least one person say that they haven't heard of every artist mentioned. I'll explain all here and provide links for as many as I can. Michael Franks-Smooth Jazz singer/songwriter. I love his writing but mostly the smooth way he sings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSSK4kVTxtE&list=PLtZCAN4FHsrlY73AwJzInU3Rz1a5ZbQ9M John Coltrane-Jazz saxophonist. "Giant Steps" is one of the most complicated pieces of music ever written-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30FTr6G53VU Cole Porter-A jazz composer who also was quite proficient in Classical-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WX_fKVWX2s Antonio Carlos Jobim-Brazilian composer and multi instrumentalist. Big hit of his was "The Girl From Ipanema" in the 60s. Also known for "Wave"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6KDpB6skA4 Steely Dan-I think most of you here know who they are but for those who aren't sure-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bwHK1xkgJA Lionel Hampton-Vibraphonist from the Big Band era. This man could play with two mallets in each hand-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf0wHvU2EZQ Duke Ellington-another Big Band giant-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrytKuC3Z_o Frank Sinatra (ol' Blue Eyes) -another one I'm sure everybody's at least HEARD of-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onWf4_yl-pY Ray Charles-Black R&B & Pop artist. Also helped to popularize the "Boogie Woogie" genre. See the bio pic if you can. It's great!-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8Tiz6INF7I Joe Jackson-Not Michael's dad. THIS guy-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJwt2dxx9yg Miami Sound Machine-Gloria's sensational!!-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPOSGVUYgVQ Tower Of Power-Still going strong after 50 years. This was their first big hit in 1972-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exVwi9IhIik Dan Fogelberg-Big inspiration of mine. Sadly lost in 2007-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5x9_vsrKZo Les Paul-I could write a whole song about this guy. No doubt some of you play the guitar he designed. But he also showed us how to "lay it on down" by inventing the technique of multitrack recording-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJaNMZmBR6E George Martin-"The 5th Beatle." He not only laid down the Fab Four's best but innovated and pioneered many special effects we use and hear today-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpRvLdQ2jg8 I don't mean to insult anybody's intelligence. I'm sure most here at least heard of some of these people, but for the benefit of those who might not have, or don't know of one or two. 😀John B
