I've been able to unlink two MIDI tracks the following way (Hope this helps): Select multiple MIDI tracks by holding down the "Control Key" and then select both track numbers (click on the track numbers) with your "Left Mouse Button". While both tracks are selected, Right Click on one of the selected track numbers and then from the menu, select "Split Instrument Track".
