  1. You’ve got a point there. But looking back, both the Key Suite Acoustic and Key Suite Electric were introduced at $149 and UVI offered existing owners of related instruments a $50 extra discount. So with UVI Attack 88EP currently going for $59 and assuming a similar intro price of $149 for a Key Suite Processed, you’d probably only risk losing $9. Which is about the price of a Whopper Meal for Edith.

  2. Using the voucher I just bought the Lindell ChannelX for $9 plus VAT. Remarkable price really when you consider what this channel strip used to cost when it came to the market some four or five years ago. Noice indeed.

  3. My impression was that the soundbanks in this deal mostly were older ones and most likely not their current best sellers. That’s probably why the prices could be set as low as they were. Asking to replace them with new ones fresh out of the owen might be granted (what do I know?), but maybe not ethically correct.

  4. Well, I'm able to find your thread with a Google search but when clicking on the link it doesn't show up as expected. It is however possible to see the cached version here:

    https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:03W7KWJD9zoJ:https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php%3F/topic/3877-sun-lightning-mix-thoughts-and-feedback-please/+&cd=3&hl=sv&ct=clnk

Something must have happened, not sure what.

Edit: When reading through the cached thread it seems as if you initial links were targeting mediafire which required some kind of download. Maybe these links were considered containing malware by the forum software and removed because of that? Just my two cents.

  5. Let’s hope that this amazing deal will help increase the interest for AAS' instruments. Hopefully an even greater customer base will help them in the long run make up for almost giving things away like this. I’ve had their Modeling Collection for almost three years now and I really like it. And for those who think they already have enough virtual instruments, take a look at AAS' awesome Objeq Delay.

  6. The first UVI instrument I ever bought was Tines Anthology and this incarnation seems to have a lot more of the same. Keysuite Electric actually seems to have replaced Tines Anthology as there is no longer any mention of it in the UVI product line-up. After listening through the demos and even having got a personal offer of $99/€99 I doubt however that I would use those rare and rather obscure additions very often.

    But still.

By the looks of it that quote comes from windowsreport.com. It was an Aprils Fool's joke as you can see in the editor's note at the bottom of the article:

Editor’s Note: This post was originally published on April Fool’s Day. As you probably noticed, this article is an April Fool’s Day prank. We hope you enjoyed the joke. We also noticed that some of you got upset after reading this article. Keep in mind that it’s only a joke and should be taken as such.

  8. When I decided to try out MIDI, I went to a local instrument repair shop to buy a MIDI card in order to connect my 386SX computer to a Yamaha SY22 that I’d bought a month earlier. When I was there, I took the opportunity to ask the owner if he had some appropriate program to go along with it. He said he had, and took a cyan coloured box down from a shelf. So I went back home with a MusicQuest PC MIDI Card, some MIDI cables and Cakewalk 4.0 for DOS in my hands.

This was September 3, 1991. I’ve still got the receipt, that’s how I know.

  9. You are talking about the Notes Properties dialogue window in Staff View, aren’t you? FWIW, I have no problem increasing or decreasing the Velocity value of a note whether I use the mouse or the plus or minus keys on the keyboard.

What input device are you using, mouse or keyboard? And if you’re using the mouse, what happens if you use the keyboard, or vice versa? Might be a hardware problem.

  10. No, I don’t have Anthology so I guess that’s the problem. Though I do have the full Agitato series (which Troels in a recent vlog says actually was kind of Adagio v2) so I don’t know how much more I’m willing to spend on something that probably doesn’t add that much to what I’ve already got. Definitely not the regular price of $98/lib., not even the current discounted price of $48/lib. I might possibly have stretched to $28/lib, but that would be as far as I would go. Guess I’ll have to wait for some crazy deal in a BF or two, if I still feel the urge at that time.

    And yes, crazy complicated  indeed.

  11. Hm, strange. I had the Adagio Violas v1 and got an offer some two weeks ago to update to Adagio Violas v2 for $28 which I did. But if I now put any of the other Adagio instruments in the cart it shows the normal $48 deal for each, so it’s not even $28 and definitely not free. Unless there’s some coupon code involved they haven’t sent me?

They clearly don’t like me at 8dio. :)

  12. I started playing the guitar when I was around twelve. It was my mother’s old acoustic, dating back from when she was a member of the Salvation Army. But those steel strings really hurt my soft and tender fingers, so I stopped playing the guitar a few days later.

And the rest, as they say, is blistery.

  13. I jumped on this as soon as I got the mail yesterday. According to GOG it’s free only until 1 PM UTC 1 June, 2019. I assume they mean GMT as UTC is a time standard and not a time zone, so don’t wait too long if you want it.

So here’s my first and quite possibly last Light Theme for Cakewalk, as I much prefer dark themes I find it more difficult to make a light theme, so all I can do is hope the light theme likers like it cause I don’t, lol.

I understand that you’ve put a lot effort into this theme. Spending that much time on a theme you’re not too crazy about yourself just for the benefit of the user community deserves a massive amount of respect.

  15. I’m done buying new synths. Of course, buying sound libraries to those I’ve already got is a completely different thing. And, of course, updating synth bundles I’ve already bought when new versions pop up (but that goes without saying). Oh, and buying full versions when I’ve only got the limited ones that comes with CM. Ah yes, and filling obvious holes in my synth collection. Ok, and also when something comes at a price I can’t resist (but I’m proud to say that I’m always able to stand firm until the very day the deal runs out).

Call me uncompromising, but that’s just the way I am.

  16. For those who like me have some of the instruments in the bundle and haven’t noticed, it is possible to buy a single instrument from a drop-down on the page linked in the OP. The VSTBuzz price for each single instrument is €49. I’m only lacking Strategy (Stratocaster) but don’t know how much would be gained already having the Telematic (Telecaster).

But I would say that €89 for all four is a steal.

So far the only "bug" has been the way the plugin manager sorted some of my plugins [...]

I would say the Plug-in Manager in Cubase is almost as good as Cakewalk's, but as the list is stored in an XML file it is possible to manually improve the result to handle its shortcomings. You might want to do this if you e.g. want to create more friendly names for vendors and/or instruments. The name of the file is C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase [VERSION]_64\PluginManager.xml.

However, this must be done when Cubase is not running as the program will overwrite that file with its current plug-in manager entries when the program is closed. But as Cubase will keep the entries being read during start-up you won't have to think about this until the next time you want to manually edit that file. You might also want to store a copy of your manually edited XML file under a different name just in case.

  18. It used to be uplate once every month but now it’s more like once every second month, so I’m much less tired.  Seems like these days I’m Only Sleeping.

  19. Just a guess: as the Theme Editor only allows correctly sized images to be imported into an image slot, maybe someone has been playing around with some external resource editor? It’s hard to believe though that any incorrectly sized image would not be either distorted or cropped when rendered in CbB, so I can’t really see the point in doing that.

Can you use Cubase VST's in Cakewalk or are they locked to Cubase?

The only virtual instruments that came with Cubase Pro 9.5 and were accessible from outside Cubase were Retrologue and Padshop, but I don’t know if that’s been changed in Cubase Pro 10.

I hadn’t planned to update to Cubase Pro 10 but at this price I probably can’t resist.
