Seriously, who can complain? Sure, I definitely understand how some folks who paid for stuff now free -- which includes me -- might be annoyed, but in the long run, they've added a bunch of stuff that was formerly paid that I got free, and I love the fact now someone who is short of cash can access these tools.

    I can't complain...

Well actually I did, and so the very nice folks at Kilohearts sent me a $90 coupon to buy other Kilohearts stuff with!!! I had purchased some kHs snapins earlier in the year before they went free, and decided to let them hear about it shortly afterwards. :)

  2. I always compare Amazon prices with the manufacturer's price if they sell direct, as well as other online merchants, before I pull the trigger. That's a quick way to spot out-of-line prices.

Another advantage of Amazon is their hassle -free return policy. Never had an issue in that respect with anything sold and shipped direct from Amazon. With 3rd party sellers, it's up to you to understand the return requirements. Let the buyer beware! If you shop smart you can do all right.

  3. I've rarely seen anything I'm interested in on "Prime Day" deals.

But since I do most of my shopping at *Amazon, the free Prime 2-day (occasionally same day) delivery pays for itself and saves me gas money. Plus I shop there with the Prime branded Visa card that gives me 5% back on all Amazon purchases.

*Other than groceries and household staples that I pick up at the local supermarket or Walmart.

I've tried it and done a lot of customization and made my own programs, but I find the samples are dull and lack the responsive dynamics that are essential to making a Wurli have that special magic.  I don't know if its due to how they put together the layers, but the library is just dull dynamically and all of the effects in the world can't fix that.

Oh well, I thought the part sounded a bit livelier with just the DI and no effects. The rest is probably limited to the quality of the samples themselves...

    p. s. I also think the Soundpaint Wurlitzer is dull. I have given it a chance a few times.. but it doesn't keep me going..

Did you try switching from Program to Part, and then only loading the "Keys 1972 Wurli Piano 88 DI main" or the "Mix Main" into a single part slot?

That doesn't sound very dull to me... just my two cents...

Their stuff never really jelled with me, and this version is no different.  Worked OK in Studio One 6 here, but I don't care for the UI.

I'm OK with the UI, and some of the sounds are interesting. But I prefer the Soundpaint UI as far as being able to mix any samples in the collection with any other samples, including my own. I own the Atma, Frcture, and Ultrasonic Death Whistle libraries from Mntra.

The MNDALA UI only allows you to select samples from within the current selected library. They need to improve on that.

  7. There was an update for Huracan available, as well as the new Rasa for v2.0. Ran into a couple of presets in Rasa with only silence (missing samples?).

Huracan caused Studio One 5.5.2 to stop responding while switching presets. Had to end it with task manager. 😢

    YMMV.

So, uh... Has someone used Bioscape for music that isn't ambient or trailer music?

Everytime I watch a video praising Bioscape I feel old and stupid, because all I can think is "it's just noise!" and that I must be missing something.

It's intended for found sound cinematics. If that's what you are looking for with the factory sample library, then great! Ambient and trailer deluxe! :)

But since you can drag and drop your own samples into the sample windows, the options are virtually limited to your imagination.

I broke down and bought one of these, a Nespresso Vertuo machine. It makes great coffee. Unlike other capsule machines, you can order different sizes. 40, 80, 150, 237 and 414 mL. The 237 size is perfect for a regular coffee cup. The 414 is for mugs. Each capsule has a barcode that the machine reads to determine size, water temp and spinning speed. The top is may look like crema right after brewing is finished, but it's foam and will settle. Vertuo is not pressure-based like the regular capsule espresso machines. The capsules aren't cheap, about 64 cents for a 237, but at 2/day, I can live with it. And there are about a dozen choices of coffees in that size. The water container holds 1.7 L, so is perfect for a 1.5 L bottle of water.

Buy your beans and grind 'em the old fashioned way. Cartridges are for sissies!!! 😉

They probably have.... which makes me wonder why IKM have not changed ST4 to not allows this scenario....  instead of crashing....

IKM seems to lag behind other developers in quality control and proper beta testing before release. It's almost as if pre-release buyers of any new product are signing up for extended beta testing. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy their products (and I have most of them), but the affordability often comes at the expense of stability!

I keep seeing that Indiginus doesn't do sales. Does this extend to Black Friday? Say it ain't so!

The only sales that he does are intro deals. But his regular prices are so low they are like half price for a typical Kontakt Player or Ample Sound library.

He does this by requiring full Kontakt, rather than passing on the cost of NI Player licensing to the customer.

The only thing I don't like about the AcousticSamples is that it's in the UVI format, which I'm not crazy about (KONTAKT is my favorite sample library format).

Agreed. The UVI format puts me off for some reason, hard to explain just a preference. Really enjoyed Simeon's demo of the Skybox version, although the 145B tone is a bit different from the classic Wurli.

The main question is, are you really going to use it???

The answer for me is that the full Kontakt opened up the excellent inexpensive Indiginus libraries which require full Kontakt, as well as numerous free Kontakt libraries that don't work in Player.

Plus I got a sweet upgrade to Komplete 13 the following year!

The Indiginus offering is fantastic. Immediately playable, with a GUI that is cleverly thought out and well-designed. Had a blast playing with the bluegrass harmony (which sounds incredible), and the system of having different articulations set to soft, medium, and hard velocity is really smart and means you can hit the ground running! Thoroughly recommended!

That's the thing with Indiginus. The GUI is very well thought out. I have the the Renegade Acoustic and the Mandolin on my wishlist!

Have already installed the Banjo, Steel, and Fiddle!
