  1. So I woke up this morning, fired up my copy of AKAI VIP 3, and after it scanned my new KORG plugins, guess what?

There were factory preset maps available for some of them!!! 😎

The VIP preset browser has these all tagged by "Instrument | Timbre | Style | Articulation".

    M1: 1524 presets

    MonoPoly: 257 presets

    MS-20: 32 presets

    Polysix: 32 presets

    Wavestation: 900 presets

  2. If you don't already have Unify, you should get it! Only $79. https://www.pluginguru.com/products/unify-standard/

Unify comes loaded with content out of the box, and also has many free "Unified" patch libraries available for many commercial and free synths (you will need to have the synth licenses to use these libraries, demos won't work for them).

  3. Sonic Reality apparently produced this one for Cakewalk Session Drummer 3. Interesting that it's still available for sale. I have the Neil Peart kit for SampleTank. :)

In 2001 Kerzner and Sonic Reality collaborated with IK Multimedia to offer the sounds he created for keyboard workstations via computer software. Producing a majority of the sound range for the first comprehensive software rompler virtual instrument called "SampleTank"

Apparently so.  From IK GB FAQ

CAN I BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT TO JOIN THE GROUP BUY MULTIPLE TIMES?
Yes, you’ll receive another set of free products for every qualifying item you register during the promotion. So you can purchase a 2nd item and get another set of free products. Both registrations will count towards the milestones, too, so this also helps you reach the next milestone and earn even more free software.

    IK Multimedia. Musicians First

You would have to actually "BUY" 2 licenses to achieve that.

Sweetwater's deal is buy one from them, and IK will give you the free one. So if you buy 2 and register 2 at IK, then you will get 2 (or more with Group Buy) at IK.

could you not but one IKM item from Sweet, and pickup another for free and register both with IKM to get in twice in on the GB at the $149 level? If you pickup SSSR and Complexoor, you get two serials.. right..

Larry caught the fine print. Sweetwater is not giving anything away. They are just luring you into the IK group buy with 1 free item. Shady if you ask me...

I believe that's the Group Buy.  Notice it says "Free Product will be available upon REGISTRATION"

You're apparently right. I missed that! I thought they were offering a direct deal when Sweetwater said "one". Tricky dudes...

  7. Sweetwater is offering a buy one get one with T-RackS Sunset Sound Studios Reverb. So buy this, and get a free plugin of equal value there, and then register at IK as qualifying item for more group buy freebies at the $149 level!

    https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TRacksSSVerb--ik-multimedia-t-racks-sunset-sound-studios-reverb

Same deal for the Lurssen Mastering Console at the $159 level... https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LurssenMast--ik-multimedia-lurssen-mastering-console

And MODO bass for the $299 level (with the Sweetwater bogo deal that's like half off!!!) https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ModoBass--ik-multimedia-modo-bass

Amplitube 5 Software Suite for $299 (Sweetwater bogo) https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AmpliTube5--ik-multimedia-amplitube-5-software-suite

    Not a deal!

Besides a sundry of sounds, looks like all I'd be in for are these four - will wait and see... Pocket book can't justify ATM but hey, when has GAS ever listened to reason!?

    Hammond B-3X
    Lurssen Mastering Console
    MixBox
    MODO DRUM

    Those are all good ones!

I like the MixBox better than T-RackS, as you can quickly slap an FX chain on any track as you are getting creative as a musician, and tweak that. I'm not an engineer, so T-RackS takes a bit more patience and planning... probably much more useful for mixdown and mastering...

And for some reason, anything that I run through Lurssen sounds better coming out of the other end (says the non-engineer)! :)

That Hammond sure sounds authentic (created in close collaboration with both the Hammond Organ Company, of Chicago, Illinois, and Suzuki Musical Instruments Mfg. of Hamamatsu, Japan)! My go-to now for tone wheel and Leslie goodness!

Erm @abacab ..  Check the HELP Menu and click on DOWNLOAD INSTRUMENTS and LOOP COLLECTIONS ... Nearly 5GB of stuff

Thank you sir! I stand corrected! :)

I had looked all over, and checked the FAQ, but missed that!

Regardless, the Acid Music Studio still appears to be crippled compared with the Pro version. Still think I will pass on this...

Acid Music Studio restrictions This manual is written for both versions of ACID, ACID Music Studio (the program you are using right now) and ACID Pro, the bigger brother of ACID Music Studio.

The following functions from ACID Pro are not available in ACID Music Studio:

l External control surface support l 5.1 Surround mixing l Rewire mixer/device functionality l MIDI piano roll editor, editing of MIDI clips is done by Inline Editing l Automation recording l Real-Time Rendering l Groove Pool, Groove Strip,Groove Files loading l Input Busses l Loop Export l MIDI Synchronization l Video output on external monitor l Program Map editor l MIDI Merge recording l Vita Sampler

Less content and effects are available in ACID Music Studio:

l Instead of 25 Vita Solo Instruments, only 6 are available l Only four essential FX (Limiter, Chorus/Flanger, Phaser, Stereo Delay) instead of 11. l Less loop content.

My current wishlist: AmpliTube, MixBox, and SampleTron (all at the $199 tier).  I have enough jam points to bring it down to $140, but hoping for a retail deal for even better.

MixBox is killer! Find a way to get that!

The TPM 2.0 module came Thursday, I paid $35 and could not believe the scalping going on with these boards, insanity.

I ordered my TPM 2.0 module for $15 the day the requirement was announced. By the very next next day they were nowhere to be found! Dang scalpers!

Please keep us posted on Windows 11 DAW performance. I will probably keep running Win10 for at least two more years. I usually wait at least a year from RTM for major upgrades, and let others volunteer to be unpaid beta testers in the interim. :)

Any compelling reason to get this bundle for Sound Forge Pro if I have RX 7 Elements?

I have RX 8 Standard (came with MPS bundle), but grabbed Sound Forge anyway. I used to use Sony Sound Forge 7, and it's pretty easy to use. So the 64-bit update was a no-brainer for $25. A Swiss army knife for audio editing. RX has some interesting healing options.

I have been using Audacity for the past few years for quick and easy audio edits and conversions. It will be nice to have Sound Forge available for that again! :)

You realize you have to buy something, not on sale, to get free stuff?

Not quite accurate, You can buy items at a sale price and receive full retail value towards the group buy at IK. But you do need to "buy" something! No freebies, or magware will cut it! But IK won't ding you for the sale price. Nice guys!

For example, last year I found and bought an IK crossgrade item on sale at an online distributor, and then registered it at IK, receiving the full $299 retail level credit as the qualifying item. That got me into the both MODO's and the Hammond B3 for free. :)

Tip: You can even buy something on sale that you already own, and register it as a 2nd license. That worked for me!

After further review Samplitude Studio blows.  I should be able to load a vsti without having to look at a manual.  Acid Music Studio is better.

I didn't bother installing Samplitude, as I already have a few other Pro DAWs. But I was curious about Acid Music Studio as a former Sony Acid Pro 6 user.

But as soon as I discovered that Acid Music Studio came with absolutely no content, not even a demo project, and cannot even export loops, I binned it immediately! $99 to upgrade to Pro? Fugedaboudit!

The reason I picked up this bundle was for a cheap 64-bit upgrade from my old Sony Sound Forge 7. An audio Swiss army knife...

  15. Question about the user manuals... anybody see an English PDF for Samplitude Music Studio? I got the others in English, but there are no choices here, and I am signed into the website as a USA user.

I got the bundle and successfully registered the applications in my Magix account.

Didn't plan to install Samplitude, but thought that I might glance at the user manual. I only get the German version "handbuch_sms2019_de.pdf" when I download the instructions... 😢
