Husker has pretty well summed up my experience (over MANY years) with IK,
and my analysis of IK is well known in this forum!
While the products are great, the business model is abismal at best.  The HUGE
    saving grace for IK is....

    THE GROUP BUYS...

    Agreed!

I have also spent my entire adult life doing "computer", and can totally relate to this opinion! IK products are among the best in the business, but they really need to reassess their delivery and support model. Although the new Product Manager is a step in the right direction!

But the Group Buy rocks, and I would rather save any other negative comments until the end of the promotion!

You know it was actually from an Orchestral arrangement of a Rolling Stone songs right ?

"Nearly from the get-go, however, the tune's authorship was challenged: The Verve's lead singer, Ashcroft, wrote the lyrics, but the song's instrumentals leaned heavily on a version of the Stones' "The Last Time" — specifically, on an orchestral arrangement recorded in 1965 by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra, a side project from Andrew Loog Oldham, the Stones' manager and record producer, who enlisted various session musicians and arranger David Whitaker to create symphonic versions of Stones songs."

  3. That was a great 80's song, but never gave any thought to who was performing it. It was just a part of the background soundtrack of the 80's for me!

Good blast from the past! Sly Fox hit the top 10 in US and UK with that tune. One hit wonders... 😎

Thanks for all the info! I have Hyperion Strings Micro and that means I can cross grade to Kontakt 6 for €124, which sounds good.

Think I will do that…do any of the discounters offer a better deal than buying direct from NI?

I believe crossgrades are only offered direct from NI.

PS. I saw some one do it with Kontakt, but when I try his setup with BBC

Kontakt is multi-timbral, the Spitfire plugin is not. Multiple instances of Spitfire are required to do multi parts on separate channels.

As bdickens has referenced, the plugin should be light enough to use multiple instances. If your computer has issues with that, you should look into freezing any Spitfire tracks that you are not currently working on. > https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Mixing.23.html

Freezing an instrument track will bounce it down to audio, and lower the CPU used by any frozen track. You can revert it from frozen at any time, and make modifications as needed, but when playing back frozen tracks in a mix, they should use negligible CPU. Audio tracks put way less demand on CPU and memory than virtual instrument tracks do!

Yes, any library that's licensed to work in Kontakt Player would qualify.

I forgot, also any of the Native Instruments Kontakt libraries will work, too.

But there are only a handful of free libraries--the vendor pays the licensing and then gives the product away.

I understand how the NI library licensing system works, but the crossgrade eligibility items has always seemed a bit mysterious...

I have happily used Player for years, but finally decided to take advantage of the crossgrade, after skipping it in the past, even though I was always eligible.

  7. I will have 4 freebies to choose when we complete the current level (8). The only freebies that I have left to pick from are 2 of the Cinekinetics instruments, and several of the Hitmaker series loop packs for SampleTank.

I will finish my Cinekinetiks collection, but will probably leave the Hitmaker stuff on the table... and any additional freebies that accumulate in this Group Buy.

Is there a list of qualifying libraries for the cross grade path  from Player to Full?

I don't think there has ever been an official list. But if you already have one of the qualifiers, the crossgrade will automatically show up as an option in your NI account.

In the past I have seen Sennheiser DrumMic'a! qualify, as well as the Estey Reed Organ by Soniccouture. Others may add what worked for them... but they were typically 3rd party Player compatible libraries. DrumMic'a! was always popular for this purpose because it was free, and the Estey was a free giveaway a few years ago.

But believe it or not, I seem to recall this time around NI chose my ancient license for Kompakt Sony Acid Pro (bundled with Sony Acid Pro 6 in 2006) as the qualifier. It's sort of random, because I have qualified in the past with the other two, but never pulled the trigger. It just picks one and says you can get the crossgrade!

You can get it for $49 with Jam points.

    But no free shipping... $12.99.

It's not so cheap when you factor that in... maybe Pete could toss in free shipping on any hardware product as a group buy freebie choice! 😁

Been looking for another keyboard as my Alesis QS 61 is on its last breath.

LOL! My Alesis QS 61 is still in mint condition (I think, in my closet). If it had more knobs and sliders that keyboard would be a fine controller!  :)

But my Alesis VX49 (plastic and rubber) is standing in the corner now since i got the Arturia Keylab 61 MkII ... for lack of sliders mostly... just knobs and pads... but it could be useful for the B3 2nd tier... 🤣

Exactly, like Luca Zabbini does with a couple iRig Keys I/O in parts of this Hammond B-3X video:

And we have a series of these with him playing various styles (chose prog rock, was inspired by your username again) using the dual iRig Keys I/O units as the dual manuals

Luca is obviously channeling his inner Keith Emerson in the second video! 😎
