yeah. i agree. you can argue the dictionary meaning any way you want to. but they ain't gonna care what the dictionary says.

^^ if a  kid starts failing all his classes and they call him a birdbrain or idiot or stupid..  it ain't gonna fly.  it ain't cool to say that anymore. You just say ADHD. 😉

Be careful of straying too far off topic [Indiginus], or the mods may lock this thread for going down a political correctness rabbit hole... 😉

I have done some not very scientific but still valid CPU usage tests on these two plugins. I have a good but somewhat aging PC (i7 4th generation) and unfortunately can't afford having new versions of plugins that grab much more CPU than the previous version. So, for me and for you if you need plugins to be easy on your CPU, we can choose which version we want to use. Depends if things in the release notes of the latest version are a requirement for you usage or not.

I think it depends on how well The Resonator does for Tracy.  I assume he is splitting the revenue with IK, so they would have to bring in a lot more business for it to be worth his while.

My guess is that the answer might be no about porting more.  This might be an experiment on his part to let a wider world know how good his stuff is.  Like people use Audio Plugin Deals or an NKS sale with NI.

After watching the The Resonator walk-through videos, I concluded that the Kontakt versions of these highly expressive instruments appeared to be more usable than SampleTank.

I like SampleTank 4 for it's quality of samples, but it appears to be a kludge in the ST4 interface to incorporate a workflow that seems natural in Kontakt.

So I bought the Indiginus (Kontakt) versions of both The Fiddle and The Resonator. Very cool! 😎

I discussed this GUI comparison in the Indiginus vs IK Resonator thread:

i realize that. i dont think they would care how its spelt. they care what it is associated with and represents. it is the way it is. 😞

The word "indigenous" is an adjective in English, and is not capitalized, therefore it is not a noun describing a specific people.

So nobody specific to offend. Even plants can be described as "indigenous"... :)

I've not updated since 2.3, which was a real CPU crippler - even on a brand spanking new super-whizzy laptop.

The update process was rather annoying - you had to email the developer with proof of purchase and then he would email you the password to unlock the zip file for the update.

    Has anything changed?

If you are an original Fathom Pro owner, you are eligible to get the AVX2 version of Fathom Pro 3, without having to buy the Fathom Vector version. He grandfathered in the original owners, as a sort of "loyalty" deal.

Just email support, and explain that you need to upgrade from 2.3, and want the souped up version (assuming that your CPU supports the AVX2 vector extension).

Even if you cant run AVX2, there appears to have been a number of general optimizations for v3 that are well worth trying.

  6. The developer seems intent on following his own path for licensing and authentication, rather than following any industry standards. His way is better (or so he believes).

For this last upgrade merry-go-round, I had to:

    1. Use the unzip password to decompress the downloaded installer folder.

    2. Then I had to run the "install.exe", which asked me what paths to install everything to. Since I always use a "Fathom" folder in "My Documents" for everything except the plugin .dll, it did all the work correctly for me. I assume that the installer adds to, or overwrites Fathom content files as needed in that target "Fathom" folder.

    3. Then I had to "activate" the plugin itself with my email address, and my original Fathom Pro order number.

Then all was well. Until next time, LOL! :)

  7. I have an Arturia Keylab MK II plugged into Windows 10 Pro (20H2), and it's working fine here! Plug and play!

But your issue may be due to another application on your PC grabbing the class compliant MIDI driver before your DAW does. If that's the case, your DAW (any DAW) will never see the MIDI driver if it's already in use.

The MIDI device should connect to your DAW if that is the first MIDI aware application that you run. To check this you can startup Windows in selective startup with all of the autorun programs temporarily disabled. Then just plugin in your keyboard and start your DAW.

You could take the back panel off to make sure it's not something loose rattling around. Also, if the speakers are not isolated with foam or stands, whatever, you might be getting resonance build up. You can try swapping over just the speakers themselves, see if the buzzing follows the speaker or the other speaker in the buzzing place takes on the buzzing.

The thing with the rokits is that when one dies, you can just get another one to take its place.

Thanks for the input! I swapped them, and the issue stayed with the speaker. Nothing appears loose. Ironically, the 3 year factory warranty on these just expired in February.

So now I assume that it's a blown woofer. I found a pair of new KRK Rokit 5 G3 replacement woofers online, and ordered them for $39 each. Much cheaper than replacing one monitor, and if it buys me another 3 years, so be it. The newer G4 drivers are made of kevlar, while these G3's are made from glass-aramid composite. Must be a reason that KRK changed up that product spec in the new version! I stayed with replacement G3 woofers since that is what these speakers were designed for.

I like the sound of these Rokits, and they are perfect for me at this price point, even though they are apparently not perfectly flat. I don't do professional audio production, it's just a hobby and the music reproduction on these is very nice.

All of the download links are dead. Unable to update to the latest version of Pro.

Yep, the dev finally took the links down on the site. I guess he still needs to clean up the page and point users to this tidbit of useful info.

You can check for upgrades from within Fathom now, and it will provide you with a link. This feature has been available in the Fathom GUI for a while now.

Just start Fathom, and go to settings. Check for upgrades, and it will compare your current version with the latest available. If there's a new one, click copy link to clipboard, and paste into your browser. Works great!

All front panel controls are mapped to knobs.  Only things not accessible are selection of wavetable, loading a transient, and maybe arp/key ranges.   But with that said, i haven’t programmed more than a couple of patches so if I discover more missing programming pages/options I’ll comment.  You made me curious now heheh

    (1) Thanks for the clarification.  The "but" made me take pause because upon reflection, it sounded like you were correcting me (which I now know you weren't).

    (2) My apology if my post sounded snarky. It wasn't on my end.  My additional comment was intended like yours: directed to "others."

    (3) The reason for editing wasn't snarky on my end, either.  After the "but" made me think you were correcting me, I decided for my own peace of mind I would do a test the next time there was a new SM One Expansion Pack.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused!

I'm a senior citizen, so I have a tendency to say what's on my mind, even if it occasionally offends someone. I think those "filters" wore off years ago, LOL!

You need to get others in the thread to realize that, not me.  I would not have addressed these details if I thought the other users understood why they were confused.

It's not about you, and your first impression was correct. I was agreeing with you, so your snarky comment wasn't necessary.

That additional comment was placed there for the benefit of "others", not you.

I'm sure you know this but just as a reminder: ARC3 is for listening/mixing, not for export of mixes. Disable ARC3 before exporting unless you setup a listening bus that is not included in your export/mixdown process.

Did you just intuitively know that, or did you learn the hard way?

Cherry audio does some good synth.

My Cherry favorites so far are Voltage Modular, Eight Voice, and MemoryMode. :)

I also have their ARP2600, but I also have the ARP2600 V3 from Arturia, and the Korg ARP Odyssey. I did have the TimewARP2600 from Way Out Ware, but it has been uninstalled. Was getting way too crowded with new ARP stuff to keep old, unsupported synths around. 🤣

Of the ARPs, I think I like the sound of the ARP Odyssey the best. It has that special something! But the Cherry and Arturia emulations are good too. I need to spend more time with them to declare a favorite 2600.

I could be wrong, but I had a pop-up from SM 2.9.9 that led me to believe that if someone has the Everything Bundle, all the licenses for all new expansions you are entitled to are validated.

Correct, but the user was attempting this process from the wrong synth! You cannot download SM One banks from SM 2.9.9.

Look at the screen grab, that is obviously 2.9.9. The giveaway there is that 2 layers, and that Mod Matrix are not in SM One.

  16. The sounds are quite good. Especially nice if you want to see some examples of where Fathom can take you!

I bought the Film Score Bundle for $21 (marked down from $45), that contains 6 banks:

  17. For a minute there I though that this was W.A. Production. 😉

Very interesting mix of stringed world instruments, percussion, vocals, didgeridoo, and orchestral elements. Among other things, that Tibetan and Mongolian throat singing!!! 👍

  18. The 5" driver on my left monitor has started buzzing with certain waveforms and frequencies, mostly with deep sine wave heavy sounds, such as bass guitar and some other instruments such as an organ or VA synth. Particularly noticeable while playing a low D note. Higher octaves do not seem to produce this effect.

It seems to be resonating with certain sounds. If I gently press my finger on the edge of the driver (speaker cone), it will dampen the buzzing sound, so I assume that this is mechanical, and not electrical.

    Is this fixable?

I'm not a speaker guru... have been using them for 3 years, and this issue started recently. Have always used them at a reasonably low level, with all types of music. Balanced audio cables connected to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Swapped L&R channels and problem stayed on left monitor.

If it's broken, I'm going to blame it on Tone2 Saurus 3, LOL!!!
