  1. I'm really tempted to get a replacement for my DIY e-drums (which is a modded Remo practice kit connected to an Alesis DM-5)... been looking at the Alesis Nitro Mesh, but hardly anyone has it ATM..... although I might just save some £££ and get the Turbo Mesh.... decisions, decisions...
  2. If you're using MONO inputs: Left MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 1 = Channel 1 Right MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 1 = Channel 2 Left MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 3= Channel 3 Right MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 3 = Channel 4 Left MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 5 = Channel 5 Right MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 5 = Channel 6 Left MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 7 = Channel 7 Right MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 7 = Channel 8 If you're recording STEREO pairs: Stereo MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 1 = Channel 1 (L) + Channel 2 (R) Stereo MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 3 = Channel 3 (L) + Channel 4 (R) Stereo MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 5 = Channel 5 (L) + Channel 6 (R) Stereo MOTU Audio ASIO Analog 7 = Channel 7 (L) + Channel 8 (R)
  3. Right click on your Master Bus and set it as the default bus:

    crash or mistake?

If you've got scroll lock on, it'll stop the now time from moving and the clips pane from scrolling.
  5. Tried it with a 16 track project with an instance on every track. Not having any problems:
  6. CAL scripts are typically created in Notepad - the best way to learn is probably to take one of the existing CAL scripts and modify it. A more comprehensive guide is available here: http://members.ziggo.nl/t.valkenburgh/Cakewalk Application Language Programming Guide.pdf The supplied CAL scripts can be found here: C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\CAL Scripts You probably want to look at DOUBLE.CAL ( which has examples of creating new notes) and LEGATO.CAL (which covers editing notes).
  7. I've seen this happen when a virus checker or cloud sync program is trying to access Cakewalk files during the save. Make sure your Cakewalk program & project directories are excluded from any virus checker/cloud sync to rule this out.
  8. You could do this once and save it as a track template.
  9. What mic / audio interface are you using? We did receive some reports a while back that some USB mic's were recording at twice the speed, but we couldn't reproduce the issue. Have you tried changing the interleave of the track from mono to stereo?
  10. For this case, it might be better to enter the NRPN values directly in the Event List or perhaps use the controller view in the PRV.
  11. I was going to reply with something similar - i.e. using Split Clips with the new "Split Notes" option, however multiple splits are limited to 1 measure as the smallest value for multiple splits. The only other alternative would be to write a CAL script.
  12. If you're using a workspace (and the workspace includes module settings), then you need to save the workspace as well after making module changes.
  13. Perhaps I wasn't clear - don't put your computer to sleep with Cakewalk open. The background buzz is most likely the hardware being in one state, and the operating system thinking its in another. The bug fix for the instrument assign has literally only gone live in the past few minutes.
  14. I haven't actually - I'll give it a try this weekend. Thanks !
  15. We fixed a bug a few days ago that would explain at least part of what you're describing, that is when hardware MIDI ports are removed or added, and you have multiple instances of the same synth, the VSTi synth assignment gets messed up. But although this should fix the synth reassignment issue, I'm not sure all hardware MIDI devices will recover from sleep - it largely depends on their drivers. This is because the internal hardware state of the MIDI devices might not match what Windows thinks their state is when woken up.
  16. Try one of these out before you buy one of these. I've got one, and although the key action feels great and is packed with features, the key velocity is VERY hit and miss. Maybe I just got a bad one... but best to check.
  17. Are you using the onboard sound-card? It may be set to be recording a "mix" of the mic input and stereo output rather than just the mic input. If you think this might be the issue, check your sound-card mixer settings.
  18. Setting it to 2 might well help - it certainly did for me after the last big Windows update. Just don't set it to 3 - that mode is still experimental and is causing problems for many users.
  19. I used one of these for years: It had a crazy amount of sysex profiles on the back for controlling the parameters of various MIDI hardware synths... just dial in the profile on the 2 digit display and you've got control of 16 of the parameters. But most of the time I used it for channel/bus fader control. Unfortunately one of the sliders gave up on me (failed carbon track), so it rarely gets used nowadays.
  20. To be honest, I keep things as MIDI as long as I can. I'll only bounce to audio if I'm running low on CPU, or it's time to mix.... and the main reason I bounce at mix time is to stop me making further tweaks!
  21. I guess "Easy" is subjective... and it depends on what you're trying to do. Te nanoKey just sends standard CC / Note messages, so everything else is done by via ACT and/or ACT/Learn.
