You'd think a 400 queso plugin would say least have some money invested in a more presentable user interface...

Some other issues too.  Importing presets, at least in Pro Tools, is kinda bizarre.  You option click within the plug in in the loss/gain section and load from there.  I just saved each one of these as a PT preset, but it appears that at least 2 of the presets are exactly the same.  And there’s only like 8 total.

For, basically, a compressor/limiter (“dynamic range controller” is their terminology) you have to read a manual to understand, presets would likely be really helpful in understanding it.

The automation parameters are also labelled differently, and it’s confusing.

You can resize 100%, 125%, or 150%, but just those 3.

I could go into it more, but I’m sure there are plenty of youtubes by now.

Pros:  sound, versatility - both pretty exceptional

Cons:  Cost, high learning curve, iLok (no cloud, no computer auth), others listed above.

My suggestion- wait and hope for a black friday sale, maybe a bundle if you don’t have the EQ by now.

  2.  Calm down.  Don’t expect a Dumble for half off, which you still couldn’t afford.

https://godpsmusic.com Code MD50 =50% off sitewide, including, uhm, nonAlcoholic beers and wines.

A starter guitar pack for around $90 with code.

    Lots of left handed guitars.

    $100 p bass clone.

    Some 12 strings for twofiddy.

Vinny Appice autographed snare drums for $250.

Drum ratchet key’s that I like for $7.50

    Find something cool?  post here...

    Video here on the topic:

  3. Mixed feelings, but if it’s similar to the hardware, I’ll still be happy.

I made a couple “Dark Chamber” sounding IR’s from it I use when I don’t have access to my hardware.  I’d be really stoked if I didn’t already own the (plug in controllable) hardware.  Consider me decently stoked.

  4. Thanks, Yan.  Been looking to legitimize on a rig.

I should note the upgrade process isn't instant, the installation instructions are confusing (said to install "Opus" in one section), and when I goto my account, it says "PendingApproval", like my girlfriend's parents.  And, no demo/trial period is offered to me right now.

  5. I got the hardware tube reverb unit.  It's rad.  I almost got the SCHWERKRAFTMASCHINE, but plans fell through.  Maybe in the future.

I preordered this.  I'll be sure to post pics of the Creme unit I'll undoubtedly win for you suckaz to gawk at here.

Contest kidding aside, I do agree- it's a tough sell working on a lot of blind faith, especially if you haven't used any of their gear.  I trust them enough for the $44.14 intro discount.

The $299 upgrade price will that expire?

To clarify my post, I was tongue-in-cheek referring to this stuff where your access to downloading sounds will expire and I guess you have to pay for access to them:

Overloud: For me it's just loud, but over! Prefer other IR players that don't involve installation and authorization problems!

The problems you mention aren’t Overloud problems, but JRR ones (and really just a delay in reply).  It’s real simple to get this off Overloud’s site.

Also, Rematrix isn’t just an typical IR player.  Download this free stuff to find out how.

  8. Hmm.  It’s not working here either now.

I ended up getting it through JRR for the 2 buck more.  May seem like a chumpmove, but they’ve earned some loyalty from me over the years in several ways.

In the interest of public service, I emailed Overloud about the discount issue.  You may want to as well.

Now that looks good. Ya gotta wonder what the "Aging" knob is all about!!

And that R37 screw... secret mojo!!?

    "Aging

The quest for referencing “The One” hardware unit

is pretty much in vain, simply as it does not exist after

all these decades. The electroluminescent panel

and the photocells inside the T4B circuit as well as

further electronic components are subject to aging

effects which significantly alter the compression

    characteristic of each individual device.

The Aging knob makes use of this phenomenon by

granting control over the physical material constants

of the EL panel and the LDR components inside

the T4B cell. Basically, this lets you blend from

a stock unit with a brand new opto cell to a very

old device after decades of operation. This complex,

non-linear behavior modification impacts sound as

    well as compression characteristics."

    This obviously rolls off highs.

If the peak control is set to 0, the plug in can be used as a saturation plug in with no compression.

    "R37

Basically a relic from its roots in broadcast, the R37

trimmer controls the response of an emphasis filter

inside the sidechain circuit. Turning the screw

    counter-clockwise attenuates the lower frequencies

in the sidechain signal which results in a higher

sensitivity of the compressor to HF content. Like

on the original, flat is fully clockwise."

I’m not seeing a TMT addition, but while I almost always set that to both channel 1, I do use the other stuff like the mono maker and headroom features a lot, but like I said, they are omitted from this current version of the plug in.

It’s a pretty rad take on the LA2A that I wouldn’t waste my time with if it weren’t for the additional features.  I’m not seeing an oversampling option.
