  1. Here's some various snares being run through various Plate plug ins, including the new Arturia...  The 1st file is dry if you want to import into your DAW of choice and compare with your own, or mimic the settings and tweak them.

If you do a "get info" on the files, you'll find the information of what is what and the general settings used.  If no setting is listed, it means it wasn't touched.  There's 30 files total including the dry pass.  It got boring so I figured that's a nice round number.

There are obviously level differences and even some setting differences that couldn't be tweaked between several of them, so this is where I claim it's not a scientific test, and it's useless, and pointless, and meaningless, and that every Star Wars movie after the 1st 3 they released were all pieces of crap that ruined the storyline, etc....  Enjoy.

  2. I got the IR's to load (sometimes I have to triple click where it says "No Folder Selected" in each bank).  There's a limitation of how long the IRs can be (no reverbs).  So this is mainly designed for guitar amps/cabs, but I'm sure people will get creative with it.

The XY trackpad is pretty clever, and I love the idea of loading a Vox AC30 on one pad, a Marshall JCM800 on another, a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier on another, and a Dumble on the last one (or whatever yomama's favorite amp is), and then dragging the XY target accordingly.  The sample delay is pretty low, so I think it's good enough to track live with.

  3. Signed up.

    Authorized easy enough.

Can't get it to import any of my IR's.  Can't even get the manual in the plug in to work.  Dunno if they use some proprietary system or something.

Found a bunch of bugs I submitted via their site.  I'm sure they are aware of  them, but I suggest anyone else running into issue do the same so they can fix the issues after their 'soft opening'.

  4. Pffft.  $8.50, sheeeeit.  Copped.

    Thanks, Simon/Lars.

The gui does do this annoying thing when you click the presets, you can't "side click" out of them, at least in Pro Tools.  Anyway, here's to $8.50 being the new $29.

  5. I used it so much, I ended up buying the plug in when it was on sale.  When I get instrumental 2 tracks from clients that are brick walled so hard I can't possibly fit vocals on top, I can use it to educate them, or use it to back up my request for more headroom.

And I'm not afraid of loudness or even distortion, but there's a time and a place for everything.

  6. Of those, I use the Puigchild the most (I love slamming pianos through it).

Brauer would be a distant 2nd choice.  The AE 3rd, and I've maybe used the JJP half a dozen times total and keep it in the mix.

  7. If you don't own these yet, I recommend them a lot.  Get the demos, try the API on snare, the Neve on vocal, the 438 on guitar, all as they default up.  Bypass/Engage.  If you aren't impressed- they aren't for you.  Then try them all over the place.  The oversampling in/out will change the sound pretty drastically, imo.  Watch out for that.  $20 a pop is no brainerland for me (I paid more obviously).

I knew I was old the day I was excited to get a trash can where the lid came down slowly.

What's that?  You'll have to speak into the earhorn, sonny!

Even worse, I got an LADWP rebate for $75 per thermostat (limit 2), so I got them at less than $50 each, and now I can control my a/c without having to leave the Raven.  Now if I could just program a macro for it...

….or $2.81/ea when you purchase  all 16 with the Allmighty MIDI Pack for $45.  I'm not a Heavy Metal fan and not familiar with this brand.  Anybody have/use these - MIDI or samples?

Larry's code works bringing that down to $45.50 ($2.53/pack).
