hello sean,
finally, this is my problem with the roland vs 700 system (console and rack), cakewalk by bandlab and the missing control-surface-plugin for v700c (console) in detail. as i wrote before, it does not work yet with your file (vs700_wind-v202.zip).
is it the same file as i downloaded before from the roland download-page? https://www.roland.com/us/products/v-studio_700/downloads/
or is your file different, including the control-surface-plugin for the the v700c (console)?
i followed your steps with deactivated driver-signature procedere, but i always get a error "you have to deinstall.exe in the same folder first, before you can start the file setup.exe", which i tried..i think, something goes wrong in the file-directory but i am not sure where, before i contacted you:
i bought the roland system vs 700 (included with sonar x1 cd-rom) some time ago, second hand, but it was never used and not registered. the registration-webpage from cakewalk is not avaiable anymore, so i decided to start the system from beginning with the free version cakewalk by bandlab and windows 10.
first i installed the files from the roland download-page (always with deactivated driver-signature) https://www.roland.com/us/products/v-studio_700/downloads/
- V-STUDIO 700 IO Editor for Windows
- V-STUDIO 700R (RACK) System Update v1.30 for Windows (firmware)
- V-STUDIO 700C (CONSOLE) System Update v1.31 for Windows (firmware)
- V-STUDIO 700R (Rack) USB Driver Windows v2.0.2
after many tries, in the settings of cakewalk, i get the console to "wake up" with the mackie-setting (the only one, who "wakes up" the console), but of course, the buttom-codes are not the same, so it does not work correctly, but it shows me, that it works in general. so i was looking for the control-surface-plugin (vs700.dll) and founded it on the cakewalk-forum (discuss.cakewalk.com) https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/22633-vs-700-control-surface-plugin-csp-file-from-cakewalk-needed/
first, i tried to drag and drop without any command in the cakewalk control-surface folder. i think, that was a big mistake, because windows does not like file-transmissions without commands..then i tried it with a command from a german website https://vario-productions.de/vs-700-surface-im-neuen-sonar-weg-wie-die-act-control-surface-in-wieder-sonar-anmelden/. it does not work, because it was not the correct command for my soft- and hardware below (what would be the command for my soft- and hardware?) or something goes wrong after the no-command tries..anyway, afterwards, i could not install anything with the official setup-procedure; unfortunately, i am musician an not it-specialist..
maybe it would be best, if i would reset the computer and install the cakewalk by bandlab and all the usb-drivers properly again? (except the two firmware-files?) it would not be a problem, i bought a hp elitbook 840 second hand only to control the vs-700 system and the cakewalk-software a month ago and would not risk or loose any files.
what do you think? what are the exact steps from the beginning, after reseting the computer? do i have to install your file (vs700_wind-v202.zip) instead of the file with the same name on the roland download-page?
i will not give up until this great roland vs 700 system and cakewalk by bandlab works in windows 10 100% together:-)
thank you so much in advance, i really appreciate your help!
best regards
franz from switzerland
