@Greg Schlaepfer  One of the things I appreciate the most about the OTS group buy is the ability to add or remove at will after the buy has been reached.  A customer doesn't feel "boxed in" to choices.   That flexibility is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Agreed. I booked two items, and ended up buying 4 item, of which none of them were the booked ones. Or, sort of. I bought the bass bundle and had the roundwound bass booked. With the orange slices, the bundle were too cheap to resist. 😉

Well my hot take is both of those suck.

And the Broadway stuff was recorded and coded over a decade ago, by a company that may not even exist anymore.

The V-horns are decent if you need softer passages.

I'd seriously recommend EastWest Hollywood Pop Brass, the Blue Street brass, and also the Audiomodern SWAM offerings, and 8dio's Euphonium as well.

I think you will find no one existing library will suffice, you'll need to mix and match 3 or so to get the realism. It's a fun puzzle!

About Hollywood Pop Brass, is there a way to get the individual instruments playing? In the demos it sounds like everything is doubled in octaves (at least the trumpets), which can be muddy if you want spread voicings with colouring f.e.

Blue Street brass seems like a nice VST for softer songs. At a great price!

  3. For a few days more, these Horns VSTs are at sale:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/cinematic/session-horns-pro/   SESSION HORNS PRO  299,00 € 149,50€

    https://impactsoundworks.com/product/straight-ahead-jazz-horns/   Straight Ahead Jazz Horns $249 $169

Any thoughts about these VSTs based on sound quality, realism, ease-to-use and intuitivity? Both of the above I think has nice sounding demo songs. I'm looking for a good, versatile pop brass (EW&F/Chicago style) including saxophones. Currently I'm using Kontakt 5 Factory brass when saxes needed.

I am also very  impressed by the VHorns demos (saxes+brass section) but the price is much higher. Is it worth it? Do they have sales?

I'm not in a rush, but maybe could take the opportunity now when prices are lower. Are there more contenders?

  4. Yes, it seemed like I would. ;) I also upgraded to 5.4.1 and with the boxes UNchecked it worked, no error message. Thanks Promidi!

My audio gaps looks to have disappeared as well, maybe they fixed something in an update? Shane, do you have the latest version (5.4.1.17134)?

  5. Yes, I have the same problem, got it when I updated to 5.3.9. Its like a 0,5s gap. I have had Soundtoys effects for years and never had any problem before. Also got the "Cannot load preset - unknown error" message when I upload old songs. Already had checked both VST3 Migration boxes, so no luck there.

  6. I don't understand. I have soundtoys 5.2, do I have to pay 499 bucks to upgrade to 5.4? 😅

What am I missing in 5.2 vs 5.3?

I have little plate, do I have to pay 59+59 to get it integrated with the effect rack?

Hi Leizer....very nice late '60's style pop song you created there, your dog must be very happy 🐕 .... nice mix, production, playing....pretty cool 👍🐶🎼🥁

Daryls dog is very happy I guess. My dog died 32 years ago, but I surely still can relate. Thanks Larry!

If my dog had a  voice, it would sound just like Daryl.    The hook will bring you back!  Nice one, enjoyed it.

And that's a lovely voice. Thanks David!

Cute song, I liked the violin break. Don't know if you have heard Scott Henderson's Dog Party album, it was all dog themed rock/blues with some pretty funny lyrics (he's an epic guitar player too)

Never heard of, but sounds like a fun theme. Thanks for listening!

  8. Hi there!

I'm no lyricist, but I wanted to do a song (it has been 5 years since I wrote a song with lyrics) so I reached out to Daryl who I collaborated with several years ago playing violin. He accepted and it has been a real blast. He also was a great guidance in the mixing process. Thanks!

    My Dog
Written by Staypress (lyrics) & Lasse Williamsson (music)

Staypress - vocals and background vocals
    Lasse Williamsson - the rest

While apart I thought about your face, nothing can replace, left an empty space
Days and nights would never be the same, my life would be so plain without you

You give me love, unconditional love
You chase a ball and bark at the postman
I take you walks, in all the parks
And give you my food under the table

Your the one that brightens up my days, in so many ways, clears my malaise
When you look at me and wag your tail, my life would be so stale without you

    I sometimes don't feel worthy
of the way you look at me
The way you greet me when I open the door,
    Is a sight to see

  9. Great mix and arrangement mate, it sounded very authentic. What a way to enter the hip hop scene! 🤘 It must be lot of fun to do a project with your son, and then you also push yourself outside the usual style of music. Good work all of you, and a good thing he got you off your ar$e. ☺️

  10. Nicely done, Bjorn! Very pleasant soundscape. I haven't tried any of the U-he softsynths but you found a bunch of suitable sounds here. You maybe could try go more nuts with the delays in the background so the echoes stays a little longer. Great work, now only 7 moons left (or  78 if you count them all)?

  11. Excellent work indeed. I have followed both of you at soundcloud for at least 6 years now, so I have a little insight of your qualities. Fantastic composition. The mix is very good. There are so many different parts so it must have been a lot of work to balance it all. I sometimes got a feeling the strings were to close or maybe to dry, but its a matter of taste and everything else is stellar. Great work!
