  1. As kids we swam in ponds with water moccasins in them. The water moccasins will mind their own business. They don't go on the offensive to get at you. The only way you might get bitten by one is if you accidentally step on it or are taunting it with a stick....oh and don't swim into a brood of their young. You're usually ok if you stay out in the deep water of the pond when swimming. Rattlesnakes are similar. They don't want to see you any more that you want to see them. Just don't step on one. That's usually a bad outcome.
  2. kakku, I see it like this. Wait! *moving around room* now I see it differently.🤔 I can't speak for everyone. It isn't vanity for me. We made it because we made it the way we wanted it to be. The way we like it. Only stands to reason that we like listening to it. It's like building a boat the way you want it. Aren't you going to be out in it using it? Of course after a few years or even months you know you're going to look back at it and dislike it. At least, this is the way I am. My stuff is crap, but it sounded nice when I made it 🙃
  3. Steinberg has been resistant sales historically. This is their 30th year anniversary, so it is a special event for them and a good time to highlight their DAW. Can't say if we will see a new trend beginning. Knowing Steinberg I highly doubt it. This is probably a good time to get into the DAW if one can justify it. I'm not sure I will ever need another DAW. Just downloaded SO4.5 update and I doubt I will take full advantage of all the capabilities SO has. Especially since I build all of my work in CbB. TBH many of the "new" features in SO4 already exist in CbB in some itineration. Plus, if you go over to the Presonus forum you'll see the new release hasn't met without issues.
  4. It is blue. I haven't plugged it in. I don't really want it to work because you know what will happen.........
  5. I don't have the Vienna Licenser key. I have a Korg elicenser though. It's a Syncrosoft product. You know what I'm thinking. Not sure if it would work or not. Probably usb 2.0 and maybe even usb 1.0. Korg no longer uses a dongle that I'm aware of.
  6. It could be a plug bug. Plus up there in Norway everything freezes.
  7. This update is much appreciated. Now I only need to update my old copy of Melodyne.
  8. Cakewalk has had Mp3 export since before dinosaurs. Most of it looks like a typical update punch list. Some of these revisions are so deep a few users might need to relearn workflow plans." Customizable Channel Components in Console".Isn't that what the PC has done for a long time? They expanded on macros. This is great for the guy who does the same thing day in and day out. "Software gain"? Most plugins have a gain control. CbB has gain on each channel and gain can be had in the PC....not sure what they mean by "software gain". I am impressed with the whole chord app built into SO. They have expanded on that. I want to look at that more deeply sometime soon. And you know....I'm kinda thinking out loud here, I really hope these new functions aren't easy to accidentally engage or disengage. Have you ever been working on a large project and somehow you hit or tap a key accidentally and everything goes wonky. On some of the more radical functions I wish DAW makers would make the functions only accessible from a drop down list. Keep that "blow up Manhattan" button buried in the sub menu.
  9. How he keeps such white teeth and clothing whilst making cajun food is a small miracle in itself. Bah...his assistants probably changed him.
  10. I believe this has changed some since this info was collected. In addition, How many DAWS have reinvented their name so often? I think this has served to fork off some of the feeds on social media meaning we aren't seeing all Cakewalk users. Meng was wise to keep "Cakewalk" since this is probably the most common denominator between the different itinerations of the program. Since I've been using the software we've had different versions of Pro i.e. Pro 8, pro 9 etc. Then we went to Sonar and the "X" designations. After that Gibson came up with "Platinum". Changing things up this often means search engines don't necessarily give an accurate history of the program popularity in numbers.
  11. I can only surmise on the things I'm sure it isn't. I'm fairly certain they aren't giving away free puppies with an interface purchase.
  12. Plastic floor? Pontoons around the house? Stilts?
  13. That would be great. I haven't purchased Komplete Kontrol yet. I was waiting to make sure NI was going to support it over the long haul. It appears they will. I'm adding on a studio to my house. It's a slow process. All of that has to happen first. One dastardly marketing move would be to offer the full version of SO4 pro to buyers of their hardware. Buy a Faderport and get the full version along with it, or buy a full version and get two years updates free. They could do something like that. Most DAWs tied into hardware are only the basic versions. If one waits for the periodic sales it isn't much more $ to go the full version. Most companies will offer incentive buys to get you on board if you own their lower versions. I've mostly been the type to buy the full version lest I find myself wanting something in the DAW I don't have. Cakewalks offerings have been fairly complete though and I think I could have made most of my mixes using them. Now it's a no brainer with CbB. Just download it and give yourself time to learn it. I'm not chomping at the bit to find out what Presonus is up to. They had a kind relationship with some Cake crew. I mostly gathered that from"reading between the lines" from several sources. They might know already. I used SO4 for a recent album master and assembly. Hard to beat for that. Until then I hadn't picked it up in a long time.
  14. OK can someone put some music to this?
  15. I guess the answer is what have users been asking for? That's a tough one. Users ask for a lot of different things.
  16. Back up to 119.00 now. I have had such good luck with Samsung I ended up with an Ultra SATAIII 860. Not as big. Not a steal deal. Not a bad deal either. Thanks for posting this. I should have jumped sooner on it. Samsung is peace of mind for me. Maybe a false sense of peace.
  17. Yep I seen this...who knows?
  18. PT plugins no, however the AIR line is now available to all for a pittance. That's basically all the PT plugins is it not? And many PT users are similar to everyone else. They use a lot of 3rd party.
  19. @msmcleod I fell off the wagon on this. I guess I need to climb back on again. I realize prog rock can go on and on and on and on........ even so, most of the prog rock I've done has been less that 6 minutes. Might have taken me 5 days or more to play/mix it though. @florinko I think the workflow needs to be somehow agreed on before the Bandlab stems happen. In my thinking this is a rough draft to determine a more serious direction probably through Dropbox , Google drive of similar. I don't see me making a serious for distribution recording through BL. Not really a toy either. For me maybe more of an intermediate step unless the idea is to play with a few dudes for fun. A great ideas platform....but yeah, I would let CbB do the serious hitting. Use Bandlab for ideas. I might change my mind on that in the future. This is how it looks to me.
  20. Here's Mark's link. He hasn't been very active lately in SC. Neither have I.
  21. Sorry to hear about your brother. You related to a Mark F.? He was on my SC but I haven't been there much.
  22. Nice piece of kit! Congrats.
  23. Ken good to see you popping back in. Those health issues can be a real problem in trying to make music. Similar here right now. I wonder when it's going to all be over. You ever wonder that? I don't often eat steak but when I do........ Picked up some nice ribeye steaks from a custom butcher near me. Bought 4. Ate two that evening with my wife. The other two were in the fridge for a week. Decided to make the other two Sat. My wife wasn't feeling well and suggested I eat them without her. I didn't argue with her. I helped my puppies out some too. They have a good doggie life me thinks.
  24. FYI- Not sure but this might need an adapter to use for a desktop.
