  1. That's interesting. I likely tried to import an MP3 into the project by mistake at some point before learning it was not possible, not sure, in any event, would that historical action, that did not execute, now be causing the error? Sounds like the best approach will be to rename and remap the project and associated files, will try that first.
  2. scooc is correct, MP3's can't be imported into a sonar project. lapasoa, my drives are large and have ample space available. Will try bitflippers advice. Another piece of info in case it's relevant... I am running two drives. Sonar and related system files, VI's etc. are installed on my C drive and project files are saved on my D drive (just another hard drive with a ton of space specifically to accommodate project files (nothing else on the D drive) P.S. peeps on this forum are awesome, so helpful, thanks again.
  3. Please tell me there's a relatively easy fix for this. Running into this all of a sudden on, brace yourselves, X2 Win 7. Have lots of hard drive space available. 6 GB RAM, but maybe a RAM issue? Sonar's been working fine for a while other than that. Fingers crossed.
  4. Thanks for the further insights. Thought about rendering the midi clip to an audio clip David Bay and then adjusting the tempo of the audio clip, but still at early stages of writing the tune and working out the drum track which is much better done in midi than in audio. I ended up editing the midi track by manually removing some of the notes which brings it down to the tempo I need. Bit of a hassle, but not too bad and I need to play with/write the drum part anyway.
  5. It's a midi track, not an audio track. I understand now that in Sonar midi tracks will automatically follow the projects tempo, so no option to adjust the tempo independent of the project. Thanks for the insights!
  6. Hi Sonar (Bandlab) friends. Here's an interesting one for you... I want to use some midi drum samples that are set at a different tempo than a song I am working on. The project tempo is 120 and the midi clip is at 70 - 80, so when I import it the clip speeds up too match the project tempo and is much to fast and doesn't give me the rhythm I'm looking for. I realize I should be using midi clips set at 120, but I can't find anything I like at that tempo. I know in other DAWs there is a way to adjust the midi clip tempo independently of the project tempo so it can be maunally matched up. Is there any way to do this in Sonar (x2) ?
  7. Trying to figure out how to enable my track automation envelopes to shift simultaneously with my clips when I change the Project tempo from 100 down to 80? Somehow the tempo changed in one of my projects from 80 bpm originally to 100, not sure how, probably human error, that means me Anyway, I can easily change the tempo back to 80 and all is well, except I did a ton of automation while the tempo was at 100 and seems that when I adjust the tempo down to 80 the clips shrink a bit to fit the new tempo, but the automation remains as before, does not shrink to fit, and is now out of place. Is there any way to have the automation shift the same as the clips when the tempo is changed?
  8. Buffer setting adjustment and turning off my anti virus (even though it has the proper exceptions) seems to have solved it. ... for now. Thanks all.
  9. tried that scook, problem still occurring. Maybe a corrupt project file?
  10. Scook, I will try what you suggested. It pops up mid work, perhaps when the auto save triggers not sure, but that's what worries me as it seems like something more basic than a glitch.
  11. StudioNSFW, it's Internal drive. Formatted as a typical hard disc drive. I'm using two internal disc drives actually and perhaps that is causing some problems, not sure. One is my C drive where the DAW application and plug ins/VST's reside and the other is a separate internal hard drive where my project files reside along with my audio, wave, loop, raw sound files. C drive has 60+ gig available space, the other drive has 200+ gig available space.
  12. Running into storage problems in Sonar X2. Have 65 gigs open space on hard drive but getting frequent "cannot write - disk may be full" error messages. Project I'm currently working on is fairly light on synth plugins most of which are frozen and maybe 10 tracks so shouldn't be using up huge resources. Does have some automation, mostly volume, not much else. Maybe a RAM issue?
  13. Worked. Thanks Scook! So simple once you know what the cause is.
  14. Having trouble with a single track. Keyboard track recorded in Midi. I can see the notes (bars/dots) in the track clip, but cannot edit them. When I double click on the clip I get the Midi event manager instead of the piano roll. Looked through all the settings and can't see anything diff from my other tracks/clips that show the piano roll. I also cannot move the clips in this track to other sub-track (in the same track), will just stay put on the first subtrack. Somthing's up with this track that's locking it up maybe?
  15. Trying to fix what I will call a resonance issue (not sure the best term). My drum track and bass track are producing an annoying booming tone when played together, seems to be one of the toms and the bass together producing a booming resonance. Been fiddling with EQ settings but cannot seem to reduce the conflicting tones. These are both audio tracks so cannot go in and edit the exact notes. Hoping there may be a plug in or way to isolate and reduce the offending tone (frequency?) on one of the two tracks. Appreciate any advice music friends!
  16. Can't use track automation Stjohn as I've got three subtracks on the same track and trying to pan differently on each subtrack. Gregy's fix seems the best approach, was trying to avoid creating more tracks but all things considered, seems to be the way to go. Thanks everyone!
  17. Hi Sonar friends. Is there any way to pan a bunch of individual clips in the same track all at the same time - i.e. like with a select all? I don't want to pan the entire track, just certain clips in the track with the clip automation tool, but seems I have to do each clip one at a time. Was hoping there was a way to select a bunch of clips and move the pan level and all the selected clip levels would move together. Can that be done?
  18. Update. I re-created and then deleted the volume envelope on all tracks. No visual sign of envelopes anywhere. I have 3 custom screen views set up. When I switch between console view and track view for an instant I see the enveloped visually on the screen then they're gone when the view fully loads. Seems like there is a view in behind everything where the envelopes still exist but I cannot get to that view. Very weird
  19. Trying to delete some volume automation envelopes in Sonar X2. For some reason the envelopes are visibly deleted, but the volume automation is still on. Only happening on certain tracks, on other tracks the envelope deletes. Read a few posts on this but none seem to fix my problem. Thinking there may be a master envelope control or lock setting maybe somewhere?
  20. James nailed it ! Lee... really ?
  21. Sonar X2 question... not sure if this is the right place, if not please point me. Trying to bounce several clips in the same track together into one clip. For some reason they won't bounce. Has not happened before so wondering it there is something underlying the clips preventing them from merging together. These are midi clips.
  22. I'm using Splice sound samples with Sonar x2. After I preview a sample in Splice there is a big delay before the sound on Sonar kicks back in. Sonar actually hangs a bit, unfreezes and then after 1- seconds the sound is back on. Thinking it's something to do with my interface - Presonus Fire Studio - and/or maybe sampling or latency or buffer settings. Anyone experiencing this or know a fix ?
