  1. Sure. But it allows one to write music the old-fashioned way, with tuplets and staves and hemidemisemiquavers. Moods in Music www.moodsinmusic.com
  2. I have attached a very simple Cakewalk file—just one track of four measures. The sequence starts on the 2nd measure. If I select-all and slide -12 ticks, the first note of each measure disappears in the Staff view, but the missing notes still play. Oddly, if you slide it one measure to the left, then slide it -12 ticks, the problem does not occur. Nor does the problem occur if you convert it to a MIDI file. Anyway, for those of us who use the Staff view extensively, it's a problem. However, Cakewalk is going through some changes. Presumably, it will not be a bug with the update. 3. Thanks for looking. I recovered to an older copy. I tried again to nudge everything 12 ticks left, but had the same problem. I'll live with it. No biggie. I've seen it before and was just wondering if anyone else had seen the problem. Moods in Music www.moodsinmusic.com
  4. I nudged by a few ticks at a time. The missing ones seem to be on measure boundaries for some reason. If I nudge them one forward, they appear. If I nudge them back, they disappear. They still show in the Events views, but not in the Staff view. Fill and Trim are not on. The display resolution has no effect. See video attached. The note showing is E3 eighth note at 2:01. Note how it reappears on the Staff view when changing the position just slightly. NotesNotOnStaffView.mkv
  5. Interesting bug, which I have seen before. Some of the notes and other events are not showing in the Staff view, but if you look in the Events view, they are there! They play fine even though they don't show in the Staff view. If you use the Events view to change their location a tick, then they'll show up in the Staff view. The problem occurred after nudging the entire project. (Sliding apparently doesn't work with automation.) There are hundreds of events affected, so manually fixing the problem is not really an option. I tried restarting Cakewalk, of course. Anyone seen this problem? Something simple to fix, like clicking option 1!11.
  6. Thanks, JohnnyV. I went back and examined each track. Turns out that the bass player was running way hot. Sounded good, though! Toned the bass down a bit, and that allowed me to increase the overall sound mixture somewhat. Thanks, Everyone! Moods in Music www.moodsinmusic.com
  7. Thanks, Jim Stanton. Mastering Pros: How Loud Should My Master Be? was a good read, and I will review it again. Thanks, Lord Tim. Your saying that many mixes are now FAR quieter is a good point. It probably suits the piece I'm working on, which includes large dynamic ranges between sections. I may experiment with changing the parameters of the final compression/limiters for the different sections. For fun, I have attached the waveform (4 minutes, single channel). 8. Thanks, Lord Tim. I read the link. I'm using MCompressor's Master preset on the final output. It increases volume on the low side and decreases it somewhat on the high side. The RMS and Peak levels are very similar in the loudest sections, but still not very loud. The mix sounds about right, as long as you crank up the amplifier. Moods in Music www.moodsinmusic.com
  9. Hi Everyone, I have set the various volume levels so that the Master Bus is just below hitting the peak meter red zone. The Master Bus connects to the hardware Output Left + Right. However, the final audio mix is significantly lower in volume than audio from other music. One has to crank up the amplifier volume {to 11!} to compensate. Any ideas? Of note, when cranking the Master Bus into the red zone, there is no noticeable clipping or distortion. Moods in Music www.moodsinmusic.com
