The licenses are tied to your user account. As long as you log out of your account before changing your motherboard, you should be alright. I once had an issue long ago and contacted Microsoft. They just asked for some information on the hardware changes and were able to re-authorize my system. By the way, I have bought a number of keys from royalcdkeys website over the years for my systems for both MS Windows and MS Office for a few dollars each, and never had any issues with authorizing them. They sent me the keys immediately upon purchase. They also have a somewhat helpful faq about these keys.4 points

Any middle school orchestra teachers out there? So here is a piece I did. You can purchase it at JW Pepper. AI is crazy. Not enough hours in the day now. Rockin' my world!3 points

- Pulsar 1178: classic FET sound with a twist, the twist being added saturation of different types - Empirical Labs Arousor (low CPU) or UAD Distressor (high CPU): emulations of a modern classic. Can be more aggressive than the 1178 (or 1176 for that matter) - P11 Abyss can do anything you could ever want out of a compressor, including SMACK on the highest PSI setting. But you're very much not going to like the price point. - DMG Audio TrackComp 2 in 76 or 160 modes: top of the line 1176 and dbx160 emulations. - Aberrant DSP Shapeshifter: honourable mention. Smack with a twist. Definitely not a goto, but can be a secret weapon. edit: let me add UAD dbx160. Incredibly low on CPU and there likely isn't a more "iconic" click/pop transient sound, at least not for kick and snare.3 points

And that's why I ordered it. I don't need to add any plugins or forget to switch them off when bouncing ? I can also hear everything at calibration level, YouTube Spotify Bluetooth etc. I was looking to get the Trinnov... but I don't need that now. ? I believe this will sell a lot of product for them.3 points

With the ARC studio hardware you no longer need to bypass the ARC software as it is only in the signal path to your monitors it is not in the mix path.3 points

The clip below has no connection to the sample pack. But Cory Wong and his band(s) are amazing. This clip is a Cory Wong clinic - a masterclass performance!2 points

Turning off room correction before bounce, for me, is just muscle memory. It's like forgetting to hit the record button and the artist wants to murder me after missing a perfect take. Lesson learned quickly! I think the Studio box is a good solution for studios with one set of monitors and an interface with comparable A/D/A specs. For me, it's not a viable option as I have multiple monitors and a live room with listen-back speakers. I use an Audient Nero as my central monitor station and it's one of the best studio purchases I've ever made. Amazing little box, really. I also bought the RME UFX3, in part, because of the converters. It sounds amazing. For me, I think the box would be a downgrade. I'm not sure I'll upgrade to ARC4, personally. Though I have both, I prefer Sonarworks to ARC3 in my studio as I think it gives me a more accurate picture of the low end in my room. And, with the cans profiles I can use it with cue mixes. I just have to remember not to be an idiot and turn off the correction!2 points

Nice point. His records were some of my first with Pete Seger and Phil ochs. I still know all the words to zillions of those songs. I was a junky.2 points

Hi there nice forum folk I've been awol recently and I apologise for that. I've had a bit of a lean period creatively. Here's a new song that I wrote - it is intentionally a bit of a retro thing and never meant to be too deep. Lyrics are below the link - nits and crits ok. Middle of Alright Written and recorded by Staypress V1 Blondie's on the radio Singing bout a girl I know Waking painful memories I expected the worst and it was worse than I expected V2 When i walked into the room no atmosphere just like the moon Predictably I crashed and burned I expected the worst and it was worse than I expected Chorus I'm gonna make my case so tight There's a nut in every bite In the Middle of the night In the Middle of alright V3 I'm trying not to tempt defeat Our love is like a one way street Nowhere but we're getting there I expected the worst and it was worse than I expected Chorus Repeat V11 point

Daryl , That was a Fantastic clean production. I for sure got some Steely Dan impressions. I Loved the low harmonies you laid under the main vox and the main was smoooth. I liked the synth work especially that change at the outro. Enjoyed it .. mark1 point

That is just a screen captured visualization from WinMediaPlayer, then I slam it into PinnaclePro to edit. Basically one real time pass and about twice that for edit, titles, fades, & render out. Simple & fast.1 point

Mibby, when using the Console app with Apollo in Windows, when you send the daw signal to the Apollo, it goes to the apollo, not through Console. As Tommy has pointed out, there are virtual channels that allow you to send things different places. What I do when using ARC is place it in a fx bin of a buss in my DAW (CbB) set it's input to get signal from my Main buss, and then send the output of the Arc Buss to Apollo (UAD Monitor S). All trks >>Main Buss>>Arc Buss>>Apollo. HTH1 point

Hi Mark . . . Great energetic piece ! . . . liking this one a lot . . . you move between acoustic and electric guitar so smoothly here. You mentioned "Been playing with some vox", so, what about a theme of Country vs. City ? (acoustic is the country, electric is the city) Also, super harmonica playing, really enjoyed that. (sounds like you and FedEx totally delivered) Bruce1 point

I've also seen Preferences intermittently open in the background for years, and/or with a bold font or other drawing issues. The slow access to Keyboard Shortcuts (and slow open of Preferences if the last page you accessed was Shortcuts), started just a couple/few years ago. There was discussion on the forum at the time that it seemed to have gotten suddenly worse, but the Bakers never seemed to acknowledge that something significant had changed. All I know is that accessing Keyboard Shortcuts in ye olde SONAR Platinum is basically instantaneous with the same .kbn file. The slowness in CbB is real pain.1 point

Thanks for the reply. Yes it's G#. Before I got very far into recording playing with some vocals , I just tuned down a 1/2 step as I normally do. Didn't bother to rename the track.. @KSband Appreciate it. I actually did enjoy doing the different (for me) electric stuff. I Really enjoyed doing the harmonica . I had to wait for one to arrive in the offset key. I remember when good blues harps were cheap ! So .. I had to buy a new soldering station , a pack of usb connectors and a harp just to get this one done. The party never ends .. mark1 point

There are 2 categories, one with the core course material and the other with bonus content. The core course has videos with Joe explaining is songwriting process system that he refined over the years. He shares content and gives homeworks to end up gradually with a full song written by the end of the course. He’s also doing all the homeworks as well so that we can see his way of creating gradually a song (riff and hooks, melody, lyrics, etc.). The bonus content includes his songwriting process on some of his original songs, and also other stuff (how to finish, songwriting tools, etc.).1 point

Funny I put the Lexicon reverb in retirement a few years ago thinking it was old and defunct. I’ve been using a few others like the Acon Verberate. I just loaded an older project which used the Lexicon and realized how much better it sounds to me. So it’s back and getting used again.1 point

Downloaded and tried it. It sounds truly excellent lol. It does use a fair bit of CPU. It's neural/sampling tech, similar to Acustica. But I never heard an Acustica compressor that sounds as good as this one.1 point

I was Ruffin it on the streets last night. Also a met a Fats Domino player and tripped on a Rare Earth magnet because the Foundations where not good. Met a black guy called James and a Gaye guy called Marvin. Stevie wondered why Gladis was eating all the pips in the melon. While Charles was a Ray of sunshine. BUM BUM!!1 point

The software only is 99.99 upgrade from ARC 3, not for anyone. If you don't have ARC 3 (or Total Studio 3.5/4) the price is 199.99. Anybody who has the qualifying products will see 99.99 pricing automatically on the site as we show you your pricing when logged in. For the ARC Studio hardware (which includes ARC 4) the upgrade is for registered users of ARC (any version with mic), iLoud MTM or Precision. I have inquired about the "with mic" portion though as folks may have picked the MEMS mic up separately and technically you can use any measurement mic with ARC 3. Not sure what the answer will be but I've pushed that up the pole.1 point

I haven't watched the first video yet, although I will, just to check it out. The recommendation to disable hyperthreading is a red flag, though. I've tested that one pretty thoroughly and modern audio software seems to prefer having those virtual cores. To the point of the same Cakewalk project not even being able to play when hyperthreading was disabled. At least, if you try it, don't do so blindly, test before and after with a large project with lots of plug-ins to see if you get a latency improvement with no other negative consequences. There's a lot of outdated folklore floating around in the Windows audio community about what settings to enable or disable in BIOS. It neglects to consider that technologies that may have not worked so well when they were first introduced but then got the bugs worked out by the hardware manufacturers and Microsoft. Up until a couple of years ago, the Cakewalk Reference Guide even suggested disabling ACPI in your BIOS 'cause that darn plug 'n' play just didn't work right. That advice is about 25 years out of date, but it stuck around in a company's documentation. The one about setting processor performance time check interval, though, whoa doggie. I never heard of that one before and at least in my initial testing, it's cut my LatencyMon average measured interrupt to process latency in about half. Remains to be seen how that will affect actual use of programs, but it seems impressive at least for now. The other one, setting process scheduling to long quantum, I'm much more skeptical about. I Googled it and it seems like it would cause problems. I'm not even going to try that one. This topic also inspired me to go in and double check one of my favorite tuning things, which is to set as many devices as possible to use message signaled interrupts. This has to do with our old, old configuration bugaboo, IRQ's and what happens if two devices wind up sharing an IRQ. On my system, my motherboard loves to assign both my Firewire adaptor (which of course connects my audio interface) and my nVidia GT 1070 to IRQ 16. Fortunately, the nVidia supports message signaled interrupts, but somehow it got disabled, so I just turned it back on. Thanks for posting these tweak guides. With all of them, do your own independent research via Google, don't take any single person's word for it (except maybe Jim's ?). If you don't understand what it does, make notes about what you do and test your system before and after. If it has no effect or a negative effect, back the change(s) out immediately.1 point
