I use Element all the time but never thought to use it with ARC. I use it to build VST chains and use loopback in RME's TotalMix FX to track and record with any plugin in real time.5 points

I don't think I would want to have this hardware box be the last converters in the chain instead of the converters in my RME UFX3.5 points

The software only is 99.99 upgrade from ARC 3, not for anyone. If you don't have ARC 3 (or Total Studio 3.5/4) the price is 199.99. Anybody who has the qualifying products will see 99.99 pricing automatically on the site as we show you your pricing when logged in. For the ARC Studio hardware (which includes ARC 4) the upgrade is for registered users of ARC (any version with mic), iLoud MTM or Precision. I have inquired about the "with mic" portion though as folks may have picked the MEMS mic up separately and technically you can use any measurement mic with ARC 3. Not sure what the answer will be but I've pushed that up the pole.4 points

I've used Reaper for years but decided Cakewalk was better for a band/studio I'm working with. We've been very happy with the results. Reaper is good for accomplishing certain recording/mixing/editing maneuvers quickly though it's scripting ability. I'm hopeful Bandlab rolls out an inexpensive perpetual license that you can elect to upgrade annually for an also reasonable price. I'm allergic to monthly subscriptions.3 points

I do like the idea of a the hardware version. It would be cool if it could handle multiple sets of monitors and associated settings. Maybe with a monitor controller and different presets.2 points

This morning I installed the 2024.02 update then decided to test it out remixing this old collab & CW project from 2002. I removed all the older plugins & loaded it up with new then remixed / mastered it this afternoon. A bit lo-fi this collab was done with mp3's & 16b files.. All went smoothly, CbB worked well w/o any issues. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of Cakewalk. --> Listen Here1 point

The serials are from Steinberg, so they need to be redeemed/activated/installed via the Steinberg Activation Manager and Steinberg Download Assistant. The MAGIX deals have been the cheapest way to onboard with SpectraLayers Pro (current version), but they are separate applications so not bound to each other. Quick edit here: The link in the OP doesn't specify which version of Pro it is, so I Googled "Magix Sound Forge Pro Suite" and that reads that it is version 9 (the last version, current version is 10).1 point

Does anyone know if the Spectralayers Pro that is contained in this is somehow tied to Magix or Sound Forge? Or, do you get a serial that you can register at Steinberg? I've been looking at SpectraLayers, but it is pricey. This seems like a good way to get it if it isn't somehow tied to Magix.1 point

THANKS SO MUCH, LEADFOOT! yea, someone pm'd me and suggested posting this with it's own thread, cuz folks had not looked at the original thread again, and missed the new song link. yea, that little interlude there near the beginning of the last chorus, it just needed something there to introduce the 'final' section. i like the idea of nice melodies on top of gut punch rhythms. a nice blend of honey badger and honey. Checked it out... While the results were quite sweet, didn't care for the development process. Interface is too busy Lack of creative freedom - all projects not approved by management are immediately killed Restrictive workspace - all new projects/creations take place in a 'cell' - an isolated development space created & maintained by employees and Despite what seems like eons of constant development the system is buggy as hell!1 point

you rock john. you rock. it's cool that bandcamp lets you pull several different versions if you want... and of course, for any of my forum buddies that buy something, i'm more than happy to custom make files for you that are different than what bandcamp offers, and just send a download link. like, if you wanted redbook 16 bit 44.1khz wav files, it's easy for me to burn em. then you dump em on a cd, and can play them in any cd player. just seems no one does that anymore (except me!) LOL i've been thru flagstaff a few times, one of the coolest (literally) places in the southwest. i dig it.1 point

Eilean piano by this dev. has been my go-to cinematic piano for the last few months, which imo is similar to NI’s noire but i like it a lot better. Has a unique atmospheric/pad-like layer that you can blend in with the modwheel. really interested in this one as it looks like a big time saver in the realm of layering different sounds for climactic textures1 point

To be honest, the jury is out for me. I have been a Cakewalk/ Sonar faithful user since the first days of release. I've been through all the buy outs, the ups and downs. When Cakewalk was sold by Gibson and in limbo, I purchased Studio One to ensure that I had a platform to work from. Also started replacing all plug ins with 3rd party. I was not going to get caught with my pants down in the future and had to ensure that I had a platform and tools to work with. I still use Cakewalk the majority of the time, but I decided not to put all of my eggs in one basket. Depending on where this goes, I will have some decisions to make. I don't want 3 platforms on my hard drive taking up all my SSD space, not to mention the financial aspect of keeping up with 3 platforms; that is if Cakewalk comes in 2 formats. I'm not real keen to putting money into a platform that left me hanging the last time. I understand not honoring the "Lifetime" commitment made through Gibson ownership, completely. I'm just not sure how much loyalty I need to dish out. Sounds like some major decisions may be on the horizon for many of us, or at least for myself.1 point

I hope they will be fair to us previous licensees just to get the same functionality like we have today. I don't mind paying like they did in the past, $150 for an upgrade fee, but if they want to charge us $300 or more just to keep the same functionality....then I will be scratching my head for that move...1 point
