  1. I use Element all the time but never thought to use it with ARC. I use it to build VST chains and use loopback in RME's TotalMix FX to track and record with any plugin in real time.

  4. We're pleased to announce the 2024.02 release! This release is primarily a maintenance release that includes a few bug fixes. It also adds compatibility for the new Cakewalk Product Center application and again allows for offline activation. Please note: CbB will eventually be discontinued as future development and support will transition to the upcoming Cakewalk Sonar release. If you wish to continue to use CbB, you must update to the 2024.02 version. Earlier versions will cease to activate in the future. BandLab Assistant is no longer used for installing or activating CbB or other Cakewalk products. You must use in-app activation as described below. You can continue to use BandLab Assistant, but not for Cakewalk products. In order to activate CbB, you must sign in to your BandLab account by choosing Help > Sign In to BandLab. If you have never signed in to BandLab from within Cakewalk, you will be prompted to sign in. When the sign-in web page opens, enter your BandLab credentials to sign in from there. If activation was successful, you will receive a "Cakewalk is fully activated" confirmation message. Note: Opening a web browser to independently sign in to BandLab will not activate Cakewalk. As long as you stay signed in from within Cakewalk, activation status is automatically renewed periodically with no manual intervention required. Note that if your system is offline or you are not signed in to BandLab from within Cakewalk, then Cakewalk product activation will expire after some time. You will need to either reactivate as above or perform an offline activation process. See Product Center for more information. The TTS-1 synth is no longer installed by Cakewalk, by request from Roland. This product is no longer supported and has reached end of life. Older installed versions may continue to work but it is no longer a default for insert instrument. Thanks, The Bakers To download and install the 2024.02 update, select Help > Check for Updates from within the app. Note: Because earlier versions of Cakewalk can no longer be activated, there is no rollback installer available for the 2024.02 release. 2024.02 Highlights Updated to 29.09.0.098 This build contains the following improvements: CbB has been updated to work with the new Cakewalk Product Center. Offline activation is now available via Product Center. Improvements to sign in process with new activation response and error pages. Signing in to BandLab no longer redirects you to the BandLab portal after sign in. Cakewalk no longer automatically launches the browser to sign in at app startup. The Sonar promotional window should not appear when running CbB offline (at this time). Updates for Sonar promotional window content. Fixed problems with unresponsive Sonar promotional window. Fixes for analytics and app startup. Fixes for in-app updates. New Cakewalk Product Center The new Cakewalk Product Center application has been released. This app will be the central portal to install and manage all future Cakewalk products going forward. Offline activation for Cakewalk and future products is available via Product Center. 8. The software only is 99.99 upgrade from ARC 3, not for anyone. If you don't have ARC 3 (or Total Studio 3.5/4) the price is 199.99. Anybody who has the qualifying products will see 99.99 pricing automatically on the site as we show you your pricing when logged in. For the ARC Studio hardware (which includes ARC 4) the upgrade is for registered users of ARC (any version with mic), iLoud MTM or Precision. I have inquired about the "with mic" portion though as folks may have picked the MEMS mic up separately and technically you can use any measurement mic with ARC 3. Not sure what the answer will be but I've pushed that up the pole.

  15. I've used Reaper for years but decided Cakewalk was better for a band/studio I'm working with. We've been very happy with the results. Reaper is good for accomplishing certain recording/mixing/editing maneuvers quickly though it's scripting ability. I'm hopeful Bandlab rolls out an inexpensive perpetual license that you can elect to upgrade annually for an also reasonable price. I'm allergic to monthly subscriptions.

  18. If this were KONTAKT formatted libraries, it would be a no-brainer. Cinesamples does make excellent KONTAKT sample libraries. However, I'm less apt to invest in their proprietary sampler plugin and my guess -- based on their heavy discounting of their Musio line since they introduced it -- is that they're soon going to follow what's going on in their industry and heavily discount their older sample libraries for KONTAKT.

  31. positive review: Been a user since the intro. While multi-mic positions has been something they’ve been putting off now for a long time (really wish it would come sooner), they did promise keyswitching, then introduced it which i appreciate, and the entire system is super low latency and low storage space compared to kontakt. On an 8gb ram machine i’ve been able to run multiple 16 output/instrument instances of the plugin without overload. Lots more on the agenda/stuff to be excited about per their youtube podcasts. I don’t have spitfire libraries to compare it to, but to my ears quality is good enough, the potential is big, they are kind of just doing their own thing. Honestly, when each instrument is routed to its own track, there’s enough tweaking I can do with that type of workflow to get the exact sound i want. I have used at least one musio instrument in every project since getting it. The customer service is also one of the better ones for a music software company

  34. Astonishing deal. Bought it last night, woke up this morning and still couldn't believe it was true. Looked at my computer, happily downloading. Amazing. (By the way, the Spitfire downloader/installer is a complete joy, especially compared to the IK Product Manager that I've been fighting with for weeks, as I try to download all of Total Studio Max.) They've discontinued the old Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, which used to come in "core" and "pro" flavours. Now there's just this one unified version, which is better than core and includes the highly-prized "outrigger" mics from the Pro version, but drops some of the other extra mic positions that used to be found in pro. It's unknown if those extra mics will be offered as an upgrade sometime in the future. But it also includes the percussion, harp, grand piano and "Spitfire Masse" (giant orchestral ensemble patches) that used to make up a product called "Spitfire Symphony Complete", and if memory serves that bundle cost about £2000 even just a week ago. So to get everything for the intro price of £399 is crazy, even at the new normal (post-intro) price of £499 it's still phenomenal. I wouldn't have been able to get it without Paypal "pay in 3", which I've never used before but luckily for me it was accepted, so I paid £133 now, then will pay £133 again in a month's time, and a final £133 in April.

  35. Is the studio box redundant if you have no issues running arc through an app that can run plugins on systemwide audio, like soundsource on mac? lets say if latency wasn’t an issue either, outside of having an extra correction profile, & externally processing correction to the full system’s audio, are there other benefits (to getting the box) i may be missing?

  36. Hi John, Thank you for the video. I followed the instructions exactly. It worked great on a new project, but for some reason I can't get my previous projects that always worked before to play from out of the Yamaha Keyboard. I am still trying to figure it out. I think I am almost there. I will keep you posted. Thank you for your help and everyone's help in the forum. I learned a lot of other tips from this video. I will go to Youtube and subscribe. Frank

  43. I have a bunch of Waves plugins but it's kind of scattered .What happens I guess when I nibble on those sales I didn't have a unified package other than Horizon. None of that has been wuped in forever. To WUP only Horizon is 240.00 and that leaves probably 30 more plugins. The upgrade may cover a few and leave holes for the others. Having said that, as someone else commented. It all works. Never had a Waves plugin crash my DAW. They are good plugins and I don't think it's fair to imply they are all dinosaurs. Many have updated interfaces and functions. Prolly the biggest hurdle for me is going through all of them. Waves needs a meta search.

  44. Personally I use AD2 for the quality of the sounds. However for standard rock tracks, I find MT Power Drum Kit 2 works a treat: https://www.powerdrumkit.com/ . Although you're basically stuck with one kit, the sounds it does have are very good and it comes with a bunch of MIDI patterns to drag into your DAW.

  45. I would compare waves plugins to those old nokia flip phones.. wouldn’t say visual appeal is their strong point, but you can throw them at just about anything and they’ll still work

  46. To be honest, the jury is out for me. I have been a Cakewalk/ Sonar faithful user since the first days of release. I've been through all the buy outs, the ups and downs. When Cakewalk was sold by Gibson and in limbo, I purchased Studio One to ensure that I had a platform to work from. Also started replacing all plug ins with 3rd party. I was not going to get caught with my pants down in the future and had to ensure that I had a platform and tools to work with. I still use Cakewalk the majority of the time, but I decided not to put all of my eggs in one basket. Depending on where this goes, I will have some decisions to make. I don't want 3 platforms on my hard drive taking up all my SSD space, not to mention the financial aspect of keeping up with 3 platforms; that is if Cakewalk comes in 2 formats. I'm not real keen to putting money into a platform that left me hanging the last time. I understand not honoring the "Lifetime" commitment made through Gibson ownership, completely. I'm just not sure how much loyalty I need to dish out. Sounds like some major decisions may be on the horizon for many of us, or at least for myself.
