  1. I hope it's a easy button to delete all of those spam posts, if not, I feel awful for you! There should be a better spam guard, to not allow so many posts from a newbie! Maybe require the newbie to first gain some reputation before being able to post more than 3 a day. I really want to retaliate and give this phone number to a known prank call host to have his prank call team call them up and annoy them as much as they have annoyed everyone here! It's horrible that someone thinks spamming like this would get anyone to even use their services!

  3. Run Tracktion Download Manager or from your Tracktion account Wavesequencer Hyperion Releases 1.41 released 07/10/23 New features: ------------- Combi mode/big knob panel look/style update to match the 'Theia' patch player product which is about to be releasd. There is a new waveform animation that shows colour changing/fading waveshapes of the Left and Right audio channels seperately - it can be turned off with the 'waveform' button at the bottom left of the Combi mode panel. Multi-input audio pins: Audio nodes with a single audio input pin can now connect multiple audio sources to their audio input pin - basic level mixing is available via the input sources mixer panel (for level and pan modulation use the mixer nodes or directly modulate the oscilator/sound generator nodes). The 'Mono oscillator' now features a Pan control pin for stereo positioning (yet still generates a mono tone and uses less CPU time than the Stereo oscillator). Fade-in parameter for LFOs: If fade-in is greater than zero and the trigger pin (T) is connected, LFO will fade in from 0 to 1X level within the set fade-in time each time it is triggered (fade in continues even after the T pin level goes back to 0). ADSR reset to 0 option: The ADSR node now has a checkbox option to operate more like a digital ADSR with the option to reset to 0 on trigger inputs rather than start at the current accumulated/decaying level - this is helpful with pluck sounds for the comb filter node updates. Comb filter: The Comb filter node now includes a F Hz input pin for frequency tracking and a level control input pin (L) that controls the amount of sound fed into the delay buffer, this is useful for plucked/bowing sounds creation using a noise source or a mix of noise/tuned tones as the input. To make these kinds of sounds the feedback level needs to be set quite high. The delay control knob will automatically be hidden if the F Hz input pin is connected. F Hz output pin on oscillators. Auto connect for 'All Macros Receive' node: This feature is 'experimental' - it will automatically patch Macros 1-4 and the modwheel to available node pins on appropriate voice nodes. The modwheel output is assigned to LFO level if one is connected to oscillator/s fine tune, or to filter cutoff and shape/mod depth if not (assuming those are available), Macros 1-4 are automatically patched to filter controls, waveshape depth, FM mod depth, FM mix, FM feedback, unison detune amount, and Attack/Decay/Release of ADSR nodes. There's a fairly complex set of rules for this and a future release may feature an editor to set target preferences/target selection priority order. Macros 1-4 also get renamed automatically to generic names: 'Filter/tone', Reso/Blend, Shape/Depth, ADSR Rate. The intention for this feature is to speed up setting up some useful Macro controls on a finished patch, but it may still require user intervention to add or remove connections to the 'All Macros receive' node as well as fine tuning of the modulation amounts/polarity (e.g for fast attack sounds it may not be appropriate to have the Macro ADSR rate control affect the attack time) and some ADSR envelopes might be best left un-modified by the Macro control input (e.g. if used for pitch envelope or other logical control). Patch browser: Now shows a preview of the background image associated to the patch that is currently highlighted in the list. There are some minor icon positioning/size updates.

  4. I finally took the plunge, and I am VERY happy with OTS. I own several fantastic guitars, but started developing osteoarthritis in my fingers 25 years ago. I still try to play now and then, and I can't part with my instruments. Anyway- I am a poor keyboardist, but I can fumble away on the midi keyboard painlessly for hours. I went with the guitar bundle and I am VERY happy with it. I have only played three of the 21 instruments so far because I just marvel at the realistic sound and responsiveness, and want to keep playing. These are models I have hanging on the wall, so I am quite familiar. I foresee a lot of joyful exploration.

  5. Brian, you're not alone! I completely relate to your experience. I was trained on piano, organ, drums and had a handful of guitar lessons (and had no real talent on guitar). I played drums originally in my family band starting at 4 1/2 and played in various working bands as an adult but a repetitive stress injury in 1999 caused lifelong tendinitis that makes playing drums for even 1 minute painful. I can't even play basic arpeggios on piano at anything over 80 BPM without pain. So playing guitar -- and I still own 3 of them, as well as a bunch of keyboards, 2 acoustic drum kits and 2 electronic kits -- is far more painful than playing keys; so . I can no longer play any instrument well because of tendinitis and the fact that I stopped playing long ago. But it was in 2020 during COVID lockdown I bought my son a MIDI keyboard, started showing him how to play simple songs from The Beatles and Coldplay that I realized I could play really simple stuff -- sometimes all the way through an entire song without pain stopping me. But that was good enough to let me do home recordings. So, while even if I didn't have tendinitis, I'd almost certainly still be terrible at guitar, the Evolution guitars and bass allow me to take my complete lack of ability and slightly more technique than a cat walking across a piano and do things I never thought possible. Anyhow, if you ever need encouragement or someone to lean on who understands what you're dealing with, feel free to PM me. My son once asked me what the objective of my playing was -- and I told him it's merely an outlet for self expression, just like how some people paint or write poetry. I'm never going to play like I could pre injury. But I can still find a little joy in the music. It's a long way from the joy of playing with other musicians or the joy you have from being able to play something really well and inspire other musicians and listeners, but there is a level of joy that still makes it worthwhile.

  6. This is the most important advice you'll get here. The more you listen on the same headphones (or speakers) the more your ears will become attuned to what a good mix sounds like on those headphones. Even if they're not perfect.

  7. Oops!!🤐 I am just going to slip this one below as an apology, because I know Larry is typing faster than I am 😆 https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-thirtyone-mk2/ HoRNet ThirtyOne MK2 90% off The deal expires on July 13th at 23:59 (Italian time) The HoRNet ThirtyOne MK2 is a classic combo of a spectrum analyzer and thirty one bands graphic equalizer but with a very peculiar characteristic: the "Auto EQ" function. When turned on the Auto EQ automatically sets the level of each band to reduce frequency masking and setting the correct balance across the spectrum.

  10. Yeah- I posted a Baby Audio deal that I just got an email about. Larry posted the deal TWO WEEKS ago and I only looked back a week because I thought it was "fresh". I had a couple hits in the past week and got cocky. I should know better 🙏. I threw the Hornet deal in my edit out of fear of eating my post again!

  11. No worries, you've had a lot of advice here. Some good, some great - plus the odd thing I don't really agree with 😆. But I've made the journey from bedroom studio dabbler to writing for TV where it's expected that you mix and master your own tracks. These are a few things I've learned on that journey. 1. You can deliver decent mixes on any playback system if you get used to how it sounds 2. Get decent stands for your speakers - they will sound at their best this way 3. Proper room treatment helps a lot and needn't cost a fortune - You can mix without it it but it will take you longer 4. Plugins to even out the room sound like Sonarworks Sound ID are also a great help includindg the headphone version 5. Subs in a small room are a nightmare 6. If the arrangement sucks so will the mix 7. Being able to instantly switch between several different playback types is massively helpful i.e. Nearfields - Mono Auratone/Mixcube - Old Boombox / Computer Speakers 8. Taking a break is important to reset your ears every hour or so 9. A/B referencing against commercial mixes is the best free training and more easily accomplished with a dedicated plugin like Metric AB 10. It's easy to be tricked that something sounds better when it's louder 11. You don't need to tweak every single track in your mix - " Do no harm " is sometimes the best way 12. Topdown mixing is a good method to learn mix fast and effectively 13. L-C-R Panning is also a good technique that will make mixing simpler and faster and forces you into good arrangements 14. You can learn almost anything on Youtube 15. But the best way to learn is just do a lot of mixing i.e. My 600th TV mix recently was a lot better than my 1st from 6yrs ago

  22. Dopamine and Modula are my favorite offerings here... Dopamine for Queen vocals, or anything that can use that shimmery love. Modula for the much loved Spx-90 Symphonic or vocals/guitar, and Dim D for bass width/synths. I’m not a fan of the “Ensemble”, software or hardware. One of these days it might work on a strings patch or something, but I’m just not into it. Note that there is a scaled down version of this called “Gem Mod” that is free from time to time but omits the Symphonic and Ensemble features. I used these on almost every mix, so worth $67 to me, but if you cop a bundle it’s more around $50 each/bundle of 3 or $45 each/bundle of 5. Maybe consider the Binson if you need a 3rd one, and get a lot of “pink floyd” type stuff to work on. I don’t really pay attention to their amp sims.

  23. I have a custom button set up for a 1ms fade to "Fade Selected Clips" after I split a clip. I lasso the clips and hit the button. It applies the fade to both ends of any clip I highlight. This totally stops any audible click or pop when splitting a clip at a non-zero crossing. PLUS, that 1ms fade in and out is so fast that it's not audible. It would be good to see an "Auto-fade when Splitting Clips" setting in Preferences where a user can set the auto-fade time as he/she see fit. I know there's a setting similar to this for comping. And I know there's a setting for auto crossfade. But I'm specifically talking about splitting a clip in two and then having the fade applied automatically to the new clip sections that don't overlap.

  27. Just a heads up if anyone is interested in Hyperion Synth- I scanned the dev's Discord channel and there will soon be a "player" version of Hyperion called Theia, which will offer all the patches with macros but not the deep patch editing of Hyperion. No info on price yet. He has also indicated that a version update for Hyperion is in the works. Source: https://discord.gg/SwXuffYq6c

  40. Oh please John, Sonar will run just fine on your system. Noel has stated this more than once. I am totally confident that my old Studio Cat (been purring over ten years now) will run Sonar just fine. Stop “wringing” your hands. As to Studio One, many here love S1, I have a recent copy (not the latest) not a fan really. Is it “disconcerting” that this has drug on so long? Yeah, but we’ll be fine. You will either find “value” in Sonar or not. If price is a concern, try Reaper. In the meantime make music with the tools you have… t
