  1. It's the best Hammond/Leslie emulation available, imo. I wrote a review of it a couple years ago. Scroll down for a little demo I made using it.

  2. Unfortunately, the B3-X's Leslie is integrated into the instrument and not available as a separate plugin. However, it's the same Leslie that comes with Amplitube, so if you have that product it's do-able. There is a distortion effect included in the B3-X, but it's a Tube Screamer and a bit over the top. Also, you can't route it in series with the Leslie, only in parallel. My favorite Leslie for dirt is Meldaproductions' VintageRotary. I wouldn't consider it an all-around Leslie sim, but it's pretty good for gritty tones. GG-Audio sells their Leslie emu, called Spin, separately for fifty bucks. It's pretty OK but also doesn't quite nail the overdrive effect. I've had good results placing FabFilter Saturn in front of it. For pretty tones, I like to stick Valhalla Ubermod in line with a Leslie. Also, I've never been a big fan of the Hammond spring reverb, so prefer to run the Leslie into Valhalla Plate (or vice versa - reverb in front of the rotor is a quite different effect). So much fun to be had with an instrument invented in the 1930's by a clock maker looking for a cheap alternative to pipe organs for churches. And who hated the Leslie speaker and forbade Hammond dealers from carrying it. For hardcore Hammond enthusiasts I recommend a book titled The Hammond Organ, Beauty in the B by Mark Vail, published by Keyboard Magazine.

  5. I have all five of these instruments. The Hammond is the only one I'd pay $69 for. And it comes with a Marshall emu so you can bring out your latent Jon Lord. btw, I've made no secret of my dislike for IKM the company. But you have to give credit when they do something this good.

  10. Totally agree. I thought Jimi wrote this. When I found out who did write it, and heard that version.... Let's just say Dylan wrote that for Jimi. [edit] That one note he plays at the end... killer

  13. I only have the MoogerFooger Cluster Flux I picked up free at Plugin Boutique last month and I quite like it and it runs fine on my Windows 10 machine (if you don't mind iLok) . But I really don't use these kind of effect plugins very much and I already have a bunch of them, so I'm going to skip this deal, but I wanted to share that I like Cluster Flux and it runs smoothly for me.

  14. The problem with AAS demos is that Thiago could make your mom's old fan organ with a broken F# key sound like anything from a choir of angels to the sound of the apocalypse. The packs never can live up to those expectations.

  17. I recently took out a annual subscription to Musio ($99). While I am waiting on some improvements to the player that are in the pipeline such as keyswitching I still find it very usable with a wide selection of mostly orchestral sounds with some synths and drum machines thrown in for good measure. Today I received an update notice by email. (see quote below). Installed - My first impressions. Industry Brass Pro looks like an update rather than a new addition CineBrass Sonore - these patches sound very nice. CineWinds Monster Low Winds - The winds have been the standout for me in the whole package and this library adds some very deep bass wind ensembles CineHarpsichord - Some very nice and usable harpsichords https://musio.com/

  18. You don't own software. You are granted a license to use it per the EULA, which may or may not involve a financial transaction of some sort. Strawman argument. You are not required to update. Nor are you required to "live on computers." (Of course, what do you think you're doing when you are spending hour upon hour each day "Just.. get[ting] some tracks recorded?" Another strawman, as well as a slippery slope. There is no "constant online check-in" for CbB. Once every six months. Not even that if you can conquer your fear and connect to the internet once in a while while CbB is running. Also, explain to us dunderheads why subscriptions are "unethical." Really. Inquiring minds want to know. What is unreasonable is thinking you can dictate terms to those who do own the software. Which, again, is not you. Besides there are numerous alternatives. For the third time, you don't own software. You are granted a license to use a copy of it. I find myself much happier living in the world of what is instead of trying to live in the world of what if....

  20. ACECORE.DLL is a library used by Microsoft Office and I believe that error message is a result of the plugin scanner trying to scan it, as @scook said. There may be some bad scan paths set in Cakewalk's plugin scan path settings, so please provide a screen shot of VST Settings in the preferences.

  21. IMO we are so fortunate that the video crew at Daryl's House got so much of his playing (and his facial expressions, too). If you haven't yet seen the whole episode (which also shows his arrival), I recommend it. The thread moved on from the green theme, but I decided I hadn't heard Eric Dolphy's On Green Dolphin Street since my turntable broke. So I found it (fortunately) on YouTube. 🙂

  24. I'll put in a vote for something I bought for around $700 Once you decide that the B3 patches on your gigging keyboard suck, and that the Leslie effect on your gigging keyboard sucks, and that your DAW-based Blue3's and Acousticsamples B5's and IK's and everything else kinda sucks too, like you're embarrassed to play it, then you consider this Italian thing. Which totally does not suck at all. I did have to buy an electric outlet adapter to make it work with U.S. outlets, which felt weird but hey it's a big, wide, wonderful, non-standardized world.

  25. Or you could look at it like this: "There is a loose and sparking wire in my basement that's a fire hazard, it's got to be fixed!" "That sounds dangerous, did you tell your landlord about it?" "It's not my responsibility to tell them, they should know already. I'm not going to tell anybody about it and just let it keep happening!" *house burns down* If the devs don't know there's a problem, how do you expect them to fix it? There could be something particular on your system that's happening to cause this crash, and that's the entire point of that message you got.

  26. I closely follow the Hammond emulation "market". Recently UAD Waterfall has won praise for being very good for 70's style rock. I still use the original VB3 for some songs, I bought VB3-II and like it for jazz organ. I also bought Acousticsamples B-5, I've only used it for recording, it has a very realistic, "big" sound. B-3X seems to be the overall favorite. Like other IK products it can be CPU intensive, especially if you use the stomp pedals included with it.

  31. I can't for the life of me imagine dealing with that kind of amount of choices. I probably have less than a quarter of what Bapu and Fleer each have installed and I'm being overwhelmed by the insane amount of choices every time I need to choose anything. Someone posted something like "got this so I can scroll past it on my way to FabFilter" in a deal thread once and I can't think of a more apt description of my and probably a lot of people's buying behaviour.

  32. I think when someone in this forum posts that they have enough plugins or sample libraries they should probably be sent a warning. And yeah, I did basically post the same thing. It just goes against our overall data hoarding nature in this group. Bapu is our group's patron saint with the motto "installed."

  37. Your Pavilion doesn't support UEFI BIOS, so upgrading the video card ain't happening. Really, though, it's actually a good thing that it didn't work, because this is a much better card for less money, and also passively cooled: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-GDDR5-Graphics-GT1030-2G-CSM/dp/B0716ZH99K There's no longer any reason to struggle with systems this old when there are deals like this around: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Latitude-Business-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B07K6YG7YY That makes it about $200 total (including the GT 1030) for a computer that would be a video editing powerhouse compared to your current setup. And if you get a brand new system (which I would never do, I shop used and refurbished), the GT 1030 is a worthy card. (even without the card, using the onboard graphics on the Dell would be better than what you have now) I use Vegas Pro and my GT 1030 flies with that, I also game with it and it's run every title I've thrown at it with aplomb. Here's a comparison. Note how the GT 1030's column uses the words "hugely faster" and "hugely better" for every spec. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GT-1030-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-730/m283726vsm12582 Turn the Pavilion into a network server.

  38. Oooh! I’m itchin' fir that Hammond! I’m still using ik's old 32bit b4 (i believe that’s the name) as it's still better than most out there. Opportunity calling! Can I resist? I’m essentially broke, but I know I can find a way if I give in! I'd love to drop another 32bit vst I’m still dragging around.

  39. The problem with Syntronik is that it's just a preset player. You're gonna hit walls pretty fast if you want to create your own presets because all samples used are specific to those presets, which makes the extra modules glorified preset packs. That's a lesson and a half on ripping off the customer because both versions of Syntronik are nothing but feature limited versions of Sampletank to the point you can load Syntronik 1 and 2 presets in Sampletank. And that defeats the whole reason you're emulating a specific synth. Why wouldn't you want to tweak it?

  44. Dear Jesus! How many times does it have to be explained to you whiners that: 1) "Lifetime updates" means the lifetime of the product (or the company.) Not your lifetime. 2) The company that made the "lifetime updates" offer DOESN'T EXIST ANY MORE. It was dissolved in 2017. Therefore there is no one around to honor it. 3) BandLab did not buy Cakewalk, inc. There was no Cakewalk, inc. to buy (see 2 above.) They only bought the intellectual property. Yet they still gave you 5 years of continued improvement and development FOR FREE even though they were under no obligation to do so.
