Oh yes. I have used it more than several ways. 1. I took a piano part I like, created a song verse with it, wrote some lyrics, then form a whole song around that idea. The hook of the song ends up being a guitar part!! It allowed me to create a song without a guitar. I did it on a Surface Pro 3 at work!! 2. Used a chord progression that I had made up on guitar, stitched some piano parts together (that was a lot of work) from different midi clips I found in the EZK midi libraries I have and got a great song. It was like I had an accomplished piano player sitting right next to me, and they were able to hear exactly what I hear in my head, so they knew what I wanted, and was able to play it. Which I can't do!! I was able to tell them, no not that note in the middle, this note" "Play a fill at the end like this" "Don't go to that chord, stay in this chord". Actually it's kinda fun. 3. I have taken different chord progressions from the EZK midi library, put them together, tweaked a lot of the lines and notes to what I wanted it to do, then handed that to a very accomplished piano player. He was able to listen and see what I had done, was able to easily figure out where I wanted the song to go and hand me a very well done version of the song I wanted. The ways to use this stuff is really limited by you. I have learned to take parts of one midi clip and stitch it to another part and with a little modification of some note duration/placement have something that you would not be able to tell came from EZK. I expected EZB to work the same, but it's a totally different instrument and took some new skills to make that work. But any of the ideas I just mentioned above can be fed into EZB and come up with at least a good starting point. (A finished product takes some work!) And now with EZD3, that bass can be fed into EZD3 and it will have something useful to work with. Feed the EZK part into EZD3 and then combine the parts from the EZB and the EZK feeds into something that will give me some very good ideas on which direction I would like/could go. They are useable. Very much so. [Rant] Downfall of EZK right now is the UI. That needs updating. Everything I described above is made worse by the UI. I would be happy with everything else staying the same (which it won't) when EZK2 comes out. Just give me a better UI!!! Like a midi grid! Piano Roll!! Something that I can edit the midi in EZK and not have to drag back and forth. [/Rant over!! :)5 points

IMHO, this is one of the best deals on APD right now. ISW has often offered deals on packages of their strings, but I don't remember their ever doing packages of their winds. I have Koron, which is a terrific library that I think I paid $150 for. (it lists for $199) It was the biggest world library they had ever done when it came out. In the old days I would have picked this package up in a second, but these days my money is going more to video stuff. And the fact is... I have these instruments covered. But this is a true bargain, particularly if you don't have a lot of world instruments.4 points

Semantics? Absolutely!!!! ? Whatever floats your plug-in window! ? On a serious note, there are some genuinely free VM modules that actually function--and not just blank panels (partial list). Bundles: https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/guitar-gig-bag-freebies https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/nonlinear-circuits-collection https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/r-ware-x-airwindows https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/dome-music-technologies-freebie-collection Modules: https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/patch-bay-10-poly https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/patch-bay-10-mono https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/mute https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/xy-to-polar https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/simple-amplifier https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/pb-midi-all-notes-off https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/fixed-dc-voltages https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/eyecandy https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/parallel-logic-gate-array https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/third-rail https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/116a-poly-stereo-output-amp https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/divide-and-conquer https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/cv-pitch-scaler https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/pitch-cv-octaver [others, too - I know I have picked up some other free modules (to be added as I find them)] I picked up a delay I really like; not sure if that was just free for a limited time or is still free I know I picked up a MIDI panic button for free; not sure if its still free. I seem to remember some others that might have been free when introduced. I have not listed a couple of distortion FX modules. I have not listed Blank Panels (those are easy enough to find). I have not listed some graphic things that I find use more PC power than most of the audio modules. WARNING: Some of these will tease you!!! ? Apologies if I accidentally listed some that either (1) aren't free and (2) cannot be used with modules you already own. I will double check on my older PC to verify that these are all currently free. Caveat: Don't blame me if you really like some of these module makers and spend more money than you would have if I hadn't posted it. BTW, I have no financial interest in CA, VM, or any of the third party module makers listed above.4 points

In the end I did buy the string machines, vocoders, kaox and polykb. That extra 20% off (after getting 5+ plugins) gave the edge to dontcrack. This BF they got most of my business (the exceptions were brands that they didn't have in their store)3 points

Novum, definitely. Then, Abyss, Hyperion, F.’em, Biotek 2, Chop Suey. SpaceCraft and WaveRazor, in that order.3 points

I vote 1, meh, meh Didn't like 2, and with 3 i didn't really care for the FX; would rather add my own chorus if I felt it was needed. Forgive me for not reading all 6 or so pages; I got hungry around page 3, lost focus to the kitchens siren song and succumbed to temptation.3 points

Looks to me like the inital release was solid and didn't need a bunch of fixing that is a pain for the end user. I appreciate when developers fix problems but I appreciate it a whole lot more when there were no problems to begin with. I didn't buy this plugin in the first 10 days of release so I've only been on 1.01. Most plugins like this do not get "added features" down the road, it is simply an issue of how solid they made the plugin in the first place to be free of bugs. XLN Addicitve Drummer hasn't seen very many updates in 6 years....that is great because the program just simply works as it should. The updates have usually been around new packs released. Or becuase the MAC OS itself is abandonwere, they had to make updates that broke when a new OS was released. I always find it ironic when a MAC user complains about lack of updates/incompatiblity, when it has been public knowledge for many years that each Mac OS update will break sofware you currenlty use, unlike the Windows platform. If you care about longevity of programs working, word of advice, don't buy a Mac.2 points

For those who don't need to pay VAT at least, Thomann has some exceptional deals at the moment! Some are as sharp as it ever gets. Hold on to your wallets, folks, this is going to be a wild ride. Judging from some deals they had last year, Thomann tends to have a certain amount of stock, and once exhausted they don't get replenished. So if there's something here you're contemplating, don't sleep on it too long... or it might be sold out next time you look. Arturia V Collection 9 $245 https://www.thomannmusic.com/arturia_v_collection_9.htm Soundtoys 5 $199 https://www.thomannmusic.com/soundtoys_soundtoys_5.htm D16 Silverline Collection $207 https://www.thomannmusic.com/d16_group_silverline_collection.htm PSP Infinistrip $86 https://www.thomannmusic.com/psp_audioware_psp_infinistrip.htm Sugar Bytes Sugar Bundle $349 https://www.thomannmusic.com/sugar_bytes_sugar_bundle.htm Softube Volume 5 $384 https://www.thomannmusic.com/softube_volume_5.htm Izotope Everything Bundle upgrade from any version of MPB or MPS $289 https://www.thomannmusic.com/izotope_everything_bundle_cg_mps_mpb.htm Relab Sonsig Rev-A reverb $62 https://www.thomannmusic.com/relab_development_sonsig_rev_a.htm Tone2 Icarus $77 https://www.thomannmusic.com/tone2_icarus2.htm There's more... but these ones stood out to me as better prices than I recall seeing previously. IMO, it is the only PA channel strip that doesn't feel crippled. Quality EQ, Compression (which has attack, release, ratio and mix knobs), Limiter extra features like the mono maker, and stereo width. While I'm not a massive gate user - they added a decent one in there and the layout and interface just makes sense (unlike say the N-Console which is a chore to use). Very low CPU usage for the feature set. The THD and TMT is going to be similar to the other PA strips. I mean look at Channel J, not having an attack knob makes the compressor more of a limited use section. Honestly the only thing I'd like to see added to the AMEK would be a switchable pre-amp circuit simulation. I own all the PA strips and all the others see little use now unless I want some specific color. It sounds good across the board and low CPU consumption.2 points

I hadn't heard of Lonnie Brooks before, but I really enjoyed the song featured in that video clip, thanks for sharing it! I was bopping my head straight away, what a catchy groove! So I've added a couple of albums that song appears on to my Apple Music library so I remember to check out some more of his music. I was thinking to myself that you're lucky to have come up in an environment with so many musical greats, but then I remembered that just the other day, when buying a capo for my daughter to use on her acoustic guitar, I got to chatting with a friendly guy who has helped me at the music shop on previous visits. I had overheard someone bring up that he was going on tour a few minutes prior, so I asked him about it and found the name of his band (Osaka Punch), looked them up, and it turns out they're pretty amazing! When I put their album on in the car my daughter declared it was better than any of the other music I'd ever played in the car. Hah! I live in Brisbane, Australia, and a few famous bands have started out here, from the Bee Gees way back when, through Savage Garden in the 90s, to Sheppard (Hey Geronimo) more recently. Nowadays there's so much music being made that it seems even people with serious talent will end up in the long tail of the music business, and I guess that's natural as more and more of us start to express our creativity musically with all of the opportunities we have nowadays. It's amazing to me how much great music is in and around us all.1 point

so basically what i do with EZBass midi is I throw a rhythm midi pattern at it and then use it to find comparable patterns in its library. once i find something i like, i reduce complexity completely and then export that midi to another track and use it with a bass part idea usually with a synth of some sort. it generates much better bass parts than my doing it on my own as i am primarily a guitar player and not a bass player -- so my entire approach to parts does not come from someone firmly rooted in playing bass in a band.1 point
-
That's the main point of the EZ line. Idea generator! For example, say you started with EZkeys (but you don't have to). Any melody would do. EZbass can match a MIDI pattern in its library using "tap-to-find" to play a rhythm or record a melody, or an imported MIDI clip (via MIDI drop zone). EZdrummer 3 can match up a library MIDI pattern with any MIDI or audio clip that you import (via Bandmate using guitar, bass, keys, or other), so you can quickly have a sketch of the melody, bass, and drums playing together in minutes. I would say that it's a bit more "organic" than Band-in-a-Box.1 point
