  2. In case anyone wonders, Peter was successful and Sunset Sound Reverb is now available for 9.99$ for GB owners. I got Mixbox in the 25th anniversary group buy and was able to get it for $9.99 - 3 jam points = $6.99 just now. Previously I was getting the error message for not qualifying. Thanks Peter!

  3. On a side note, there's a good reason not to call the style of music Django Rhinehart played "Gypsy jazz." That label came about many years after Django Rhinehart's death to describe the style of jazz played by Romani musicians. It wasn’t something he used or the Romani people used to describe their style of jazz. The term is from an era where Europeans and European descended people (which is my background, BTW) regularly used the slur "Gypsy" to describe the Romani people, half a million of whom were put to death during the holocaust. American literature, film and TV had routinely disparaged Romanis, even until recent decades. I grew up reading and watching this stuff and had no idea until I was an adult that the term was a slur, as is often the case for many Americans. Consequently, Greg, who is a very talented jazz musician, was respectful of this when developing the Evolution Django Jazz guitar library. Granted, from a marketing and search engine optimization perspective, it would have been easier to market the library using the slur containing phrase, but Greg chose to respect Django and the Romani people.

  5. I never got deal for World AI like Larry and couple others got for $199. During this sale World AI is $299 from store. By using $50 in cash rewards (max allowed) and the July 4th code it matches the $199 deal they got. So this is now mine

  7. *sends link to CEO* I'll take it! I'd like to think I'm both. Thanks! I do agree that there are things that should be smoother and I'm working on making sure that happens. I'm not the only one, so I'll happily carve out that doubled salary amongst the advocates you all have on board over here Fair constructive point(s) there and thank you for the kind words. It is a bit frustrating but also great in other ways that we take on a lot of different lines. I've been here through a lot of the new product line introductions so I feel a bit like a grizzled veteran sometimes but overall optimistic when I don't let myself get anxiously buried "in the weeds". The person who designed that preset noticed. Thank you for giving a shout out about their work and others. Also thank you for the great sample. Free licenses for CS versions are added to every account. To get the additional Sunset Sound modules is 9.99 for those who already have T-RackS Sunset Sound Studio Reverb (even from a group buy or similar, sorry that didn't happen correctly from the go... again... but trust me that's been a road traveled a LOT over these past days since the release). I wasn't the only one successful but I did keep pushing and my apologies that it wasn't right there out of the gate. You can also use MixBox in your DAW, it could be useful if you want to experiment with keeping a chain of 500-series style modules at the ready and taking up only one insert or send slot, in that way it is a bit lighter or maybe better stated as a quicker and simpler workflow than a suite like T-RackS. I'd rather use MixBox for chaining these modules and T-RackS processors as single processors in my workflow. Of course YMMV so you may still not gel with the aura of MixBox and similar. That's fair enough, everybody works differently or at least prefers something different. Otherwise life and creating music and other cool things would probably be pretty boring.

  8. Well, technically, for those of us who "already" own Mixbox and Sunset Studios it "should" be free...

  9. Back on topic of the libraries, for those who looking into Orange Tree Samples acoustic guitar libraries, I think this video from composer Guy Michaelmore is pretty useful, as are most of his videos, IMO.

  10. If you had that many modules, it would likely keep you busy enough (to say nothing of the exercise you would get) to stay away from looking at other deals. Of course, maybe I'm saying this in the wrong forum 🙂

  13. Good analogy! I will add that Kontakt provides a pseudo "operating system" that users are familiar with. For example, I have some libraries from Spitfire and Orchestral Tools, that each have their own native sample players. I find that I have to learn/re-learn the interfaces for each of these as I use them. It would be more efficient for me if all of them used the familiar Kontakt interface.

  14. The scripting in Kontakt is generally considered to be the best, and NI work on it full time. If a library developer makes their own engine, they are split between their instrument, and their sampling platform. Not to single them out, but think of MNTRA - very innovative instruments, but many users experience bugs in them, some to the point of them being unusable. I'm sure that the developer is very talented, but they've had to split their focus on the instrument, and the platform. Consider another scenario. Some people sell premade Excel spreadsheet templates, maybe for keeping financial records, etc. with many built in Macros. Why does one need a license to use Excel to use the spreadsheet that they bought? Why doesn't the spreadsheet developer build their own financial tracking app? Kontakt is the same concept - Kontakt is the platform (i.e. 'Excel'), the instrument is the product running on the platform (i.e. 'the spreadsheet').

  16. EXT365 and the PA EXTended Summer Sale 2022 In the next few weeks PA will release many - but not all - plugins made by our Soundwide partners Native Instruments & iZotope. While the teams in Berlin, Boston and Langenfeld are working towards a unified user experience for NI, iZotope and PA plugins, we are not 100% there yet. BUT: we have found a way to already bring you some of the best-loved NI & IZO plugins... the new EXT365 program! 17. I never used the MixBox presets, gave these a try, and discovered a "different" use for MixBox. I know some experimentalists that play around with Zero-Input Mixer performances. I suppose its a sub-genre of noise. They use hardware, including some DIY devices. I have wondered if its possible just with software and by booting MixBox (standalone), selecting some of the presets, and then playing with the parameters, I have decided, "Yes, it is possible!" Warning: Noise Jams may be hazardous to the health of your hearing!

  28. FWIW.. I don't use reverb that much but I do use Mixbox and will get these so I have access to those SSSR modules in Mixbox. Mixbox makes working with t-racks effects really easy and handy.

  33. My thoughts on balanced vs unbalanced... An unbalanced signal is basically your signal + ground. A balanced signal also includes the phase inverted signal. The idea is that any interference (i.e. noise) that affects the cable will affect both the balanced and unbalanced signal equally. So when you combine the signals, the real signal will cancel out leaving only the added noise. If you then phase-invert that noise, then combine it with the original signal, it will phase-cancel the noise leaving you with only the clean signal. With a mic level signal going through a long cable this can be extremely useful, as a mic signal is relatively low and the noise level may be relatively significant in comparison... it'll also be amplified when the pre-amp amplifies it to line level. So removing the noise before it amplifies it means you get a clean signal. With a line level signal however, any introduced noise in the cable will be fairly low in comparison (unless you've got some real issues with RF / electrical interference in your room). Also the shorter the cable, the less chance any interference will get the opportunity to interfere with your signal. With an amplified signal (e.g. speaker cables), the noise level is so low in comparison, you'd never notice it. So in general, always use balanced cables for mic level signals. For line level signals, it's not really a big deal, especially if your cables are short (i.e. 6' or less). Personally, I use some balanced line cables in my pre-amp rack simply because the connections were there, there's so much gear close together, and it wasn't much more effort/expense to use them. There are plenty of places where I don't have a balanced input for line signals though, and I've never found this to be an issue.

  40. Yes. My sense is that it 's better to start with BIAB by buying from a reseller. Then upgrade as you like from PGMusic. When I first bought BIAB it was a $50 CD at Sam Ash. Since then I have been upgrading now and then... 😄
