If you go to the IK Website and log into your User Area, a Pop Up will ask if you want to Redeem the Art Deco Piano. After that when you open the Product Manager it should be there already authorized. That was my experience. It is a nice piano for a freebie, and thanks for posting the IRL pic, that looks really nice. I am going to try and feature it on the livestream Thursday.3 points

Yeah, the ability to run multiple devices is not something manufacturers keep secret. If their devices are designed to run together, it will be documented and included in their marketing material. The opposite is not true. IOW, don't expect manufacturers to go out of their way to document their devices are not designed to run together or see that as a bullet point in their marking material.2 points

Different interface same discussion The bottom line is if interfaces can be aggregated, the hardware documentation will cover how to do it. It takes a specially designed ASIO driver (ideally although other driver modes may work) and a way to sync the devices to the same clock. This is something hardware vendors who support the feature document. Any audio or MIDI interface changes will likely require adjusting projects to suit the new hardware.2 points

Of course. Well at least a Kontakt instrument: https://soundiron.com/products/flatulus. Full Kontakt required though.2 points

Mixing vocals can be easy if you just know the right approach. Today, we are going to use EQ, Compression, and even some nice extras to get a vocal to set on top of a mix. What is EQ? It stands for Equalization. This is a term that describes what an EQ is doing, it is literally making things equal. In other words, if you have an offending frequency that is built up in the vocal, you can grab an EQ to make that frequency more pleasent to hear by turning it down. Want an awesome EQ cheatsheet to hang at your mixing station? Join the Patreon group at $1 or more a month and you get access to one! Mixing Vocals in Cakewalk by BandLab2 points

I am looking forward to selecting the two winners of our Hammers and Waves Giveaway. You still have time to visit the channel and check out the livestream replay. I will also be covering a couple of iOS apps that have really amazed me with what you can do. Of course, there will probably be a few piano libraries; Soniccouture Xtended Piano) and other news along the way. I look forward to seeing you at 4:30 PM EST on July 22.2 points

"Blyss Mastering Channel is a 3-stage processor designed specifically to make busses — both mix and instrument — sound “prettier”. It also happens to sound incredible on individual tracks too. While it has multiple cascading Saturations, a 6-band EQ and a mastering grade Compressor, all sections have been greatly simplified to reflect Kush’s old-school approach to processing: less is more, choices are limited but comprehensive, and all sections are designed to work together, making it nearly impossible to produce a bad sound." $99.00 https://thehouseofkush.com/products/blyss1 point

I do some computer support. My first thought is power supply. But could be something else overloading the power supply. Sadly, the only real way to test the power supply is to use a known good power supply. I'm not familiar with Lenovo's and don't know if it uses (or can use) a standard ATX power supply or some custom power supply.1 point

BandLab is a web based collaboration/creator tool. It's a stripped down DAW not to be considered a replacement to CbB but does integrate to CbB (or so I'm told). It existed before they bought the Cakewalk assets. It is now being improved upon (and it looks like they might be using some of the CbB tech, IDK).1 point

Checked the release notes, and sure enough there it was, the smoking gun: I asked Noel if changing the number of outputs in a VI update could corrupt a project, and he said yup. Bottom line: do not reopen any Omnisphere projects created before June 2021 and you'll be fine. If you must revisit an old project that has Omnisphere in it, be prepared to perform extensive repairs. And if one of the affected tracks is frozen, leave it frozen to avoid subsequent crashes.1 point

LOL yeah I started with T-racks v1 - the rack - something like 20 years ago. I had no idea what was what, just picked the first preset and it already gave me the sound close to what I was looking for. Had to tweak it a little more for the next couple weeks (the classics have not so obvious controls at least to me) and I was there. That way I got bought effectively into the whole T-rackS ecosystem. And that was in times when I had no idea about mixing. But it was just the rack so the 'problem' was fairly low, now I've got almost the whole collection more like 50 of them1 point

Anything that has a squelchy synth in the intro starts well I would say, nice tone on the guitar, it also counter points that guitar nicely. Cool grooving, as they say, on the bass and the drums.1 point

It is really geared towards a keyboard player playing a guitar in real time. IOW, a good keyboard player could make some good sounding guitar tracks with it.1 point

This is probably the iLok issue I've reported here and to Celemony (zero response). Even if Melodyne is serial number validated, unless you have iLok installed on your machine (it can be doing nothing apart from having the service running), the initial analysis is slow (it's a fixed 11 seconds overhead from memory - obviously it's sitting waiting for a timeout from the iLok driver before trying alternative methods - poor design IMHO).1 point

Temp sync for this project finished! ? After many Ctrl/Alt/Del, I think that it is crashing only when I drag a clip that is right after a measure change. I had to manually adjust the tempo at the measure following a measure change, then drag the next measure, and it didn't crash BTW, the song is Genesis "Firth by Fifth". The tracks are from karaoke-version.com. It is a great version that perfectly matches the tempo of Genesis studio recording, beat by beat. I will use it as a base to record our own. This is how the tempo looks now: Thank you for all the helpful suggestions.1 point

Good News...! IF you have the full version of MPC Software. Version 2.10 was released yesterday. The update seems to run pretty smooth with Cakewalk. I ran it this Am with no crashes and my test project saved and loaded without issues1 point

I would never dream of competing with His Majesty Larry, but I have done a Black Friday post on VI:Control for the past three years. I categorize all the deals by type and put them into alphabetical order. I think that I have had the most comprehensive and organized list of BF music software deals on the web--but this year I am going to add a LOT more stuff. It's pretty much all I do in November. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/tiger-the-frogs-alphabetical-list-of-november-2020-sales.100595/ But Larry ALWAYS gets the deals fastest and I only do this once a year. I have no idea how he does it all the time. When I get to December, I need deals rehab. Wait....1 point

You can't have version 4 & 5 installed at the same time. As soon as you install version 5, it removes version 4 and deactivates your v4 license. It actually forced me to remove my v4 license from my iLok account before activating the v5 one. In saying that, once installed & activated, it was pretty smooth and ran in CbB without issue. Also, there's no actual difference in the Essential vs Editor vs Studio program. It's the same program, but activates the various features based on your license. Oh - and remember... Melodyne 5 does not work in Window 7.1 point

Good post msmcleod! That technique can help acoustify (is that a real word? can we copyright it if not?) a DI recorded guitar. There are a number of acoustic guitar IRs out there, where instead of capturing sound of a room they capture sound of a guitar body. Here's a free Taylor Guitar set that uses a variety of mics https://drive.google.com/a/t-sciences.com/file/d/0B1XgNa5vH3j1ZkVoTFJLQ241WTg/view I found this mentioned on a Line6 thread (where there are also links to other kinds of IRs) https://line6.com/support/topic/26822-free-irs/ You might also try hunting / googling for IRs or checking KVR (they use to have links for posts & links for IRs but I haven't checked in quite a while).1 point
