George Cowan
Hi can anyone help .... I've used Cakewalk for nearly 20 years. I have a 2015 project that I need to rework. I've used Dimension Pro regularily for years for a few selected sounds. Something went far wrong with the file access a few years ago. Through this forum I've usually found the missing SFZ file I required. One file though has eluded which I now need " Trumpet1 Chromatic Mute V .SFZ" Photo below.... Any thoughts on how to get this file? Is it possible anyone who has this file could send me a copy to my email? Regards George Note : I have tried Kontakt muted trumpets but none of the sample sets I have purchased can get this specific sound adequately. I also have some backups in other locations. I do not manipulate *.sfz files or definitions. I recall there is a way to refresh the list. Maybe someone else remembers. (F5, maybe?) Maybe this old thread will help? Edited December 14, 2019 by User 905133 to add a link to a possibly relevant thread in the old forum
0 scook
If the file is actually missing, there are likely other parts of DP missing, Re-install the synth. If the file is on the PC, then it may not be where DP expects to find it. By default, DP looks in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples for sfz and sample files. F5 refreshes the program browser (IOW it scans the folder in ProgramData where the .prog files are located), this won't make sfz reappear.

The problem is, its not just the SFZ file but the 25 separate .FLAC files that are needed to along with the SFZ file. So you need not just one file, but a slew of them. I would start by reinstalling Dim pro and then looking in the above directory that @User 905133 was kind enough to post.
0 abacab
As chuckebaby just mentioned, the .sfz file in question references the following .flac files. Agree on the reinstall... The big difference between sound fonts .sf2 files, and .sfz files are that sound fonts .sf2 embed the sounds in the file, where .sfz are just text files that reference external sound files. //------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // sfz Definition File // Version 2 // // © 2005 Cakewalk Music Software // All Rights Reserved //------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <control> default_path=Trumpet 1 Muted V\ <group> polyphony=1 <region> sample=001.flac key=52 <region> sample=002.flac key=53 <region> sample=003.flac key=54 <region> sample=004.flac key=55 <region> sample=005.flac key=56 <region> sample=006.flac key=57 <region> sample=007.flac key=58 <region> sample=008.flac key=59 <region> sample=009.flac key=60 <region> sample=010.flac key=61 <region> sample=011.flac key=62 <region> sample=012.flac key=63 <region> sample=013.flac key=64 <region> sample=014.flac key=65 <region> sample=015.flac key=66 <region> sample=016.flac key=67 <region> sample=017.flac key=68 <region> sample=018.flac key=69 <region> sample=019.flac key=70 <region> sample=020.flac key=71 <region> sample=021.flac key=72 <region> sample=022.flac key=73 <region> sample=023.flac key=74 <region> sample=024.flac key=75 <region> sample=025.flac key=76 <region> sample=026.flac key=77 hikey=80 Edited December 14, 2019 by abacab
0 George Cowan
Hi all, thanks for your detailed , helpful and prompt responses. The re-install looks like the solution . I’ve got a fair idea of how the reinstall works but is there a procedure I can find as a checklist for the reinstall? thanks GEORGE
0 scook
1) If you have SONAR Platinum, the Cakewalk Command Center and run the Dimension Pro installers from there or 2) download and the installers from your Cakewalk Account or 3) run them from the install disk. If running from SONAR 8.5 and older disk make sure to get the v1.2, v1.5 upgrades and the expansion packs.
0 George Cowan
Hi I have Sonar Platinum. I will run Dim Pro installers from Cakewalk Command Centre . Am I correct in thinking that there is No Uninstall requirement that I need to handle in the process? Thanks George
0 scook
It should not be necessary to uninstall. If Cakewalk Command Center knows about the prior DP installation, it will present a Reinstall option otherwise, it will show an Install option. Either way, it will run the installers.
