Can I get a refresher course on how to embed videos here?

It's easier if they are hosted somewhere that provides a link and a decent video engine... Like YT or Vimeo... and it doesn't eat into your maximum attachment UL limit on this forum.

Yeah, but how to post the link? Every time I try it just posts the link text, not the vid.

When you create post/reply in the toolbar at the top of the input form is an icon that looks like a chain link. You can highlight a word or phrase and embed it there. If you paste a link to a YT vid, scroll down just a bit and there will be a button that says <insert> (IIRC).

Edit:

Delete everything  before the <https...> and after <dGH...> and try that.

Go to the video on YouTube.  Hit the Share button and copy the link.  Paste link here.

Are you right-clicking a video on YouTube and selecting Copy embed code? If yes, don't do that. Better ways have been posted here on how to post a link to an online video. I use the Share button to copy the video URL because it's simple, elegant, and gives you an option as to where the video will start playing. When pasting the video URL you will have the option of whether or not the video is displayed on the page or just as a link that has to be clicked to go to the web page the video is on.

I pulled this up on my cell, clicked the 3 dots, clicked share, and pasted here like Craig said. And sometimes it works, and this time it didn't. Lol. So to answer your question, I guess we don't know. Lol.

I don't know what device you are using but on my desktop and tablet those three dots are a different menu than what is used to share a video. In the image below I have outlined the SHARE button and the resulting COPY box in red. So, click the SHARE Button and then click COPY. Then paste that into a post to share the video.
