I've been meaning to record a video of Pop's Dilemma by James Booker for some time. I love New Orleans piano, and this is one of my favorites. But, it's also a beast! I did my best to try and do it justice, so I hope you enjoy!

I have a lot of respect for anyone that can approach what is very nearly 'stride' piano and nail it!

Thanks.   I recorded Carolina Shout several years ago, and have been thinking of redoing it with a video.  Unfortunately, it's far harder than Pop's Dilemma!

Here's my recording of Carolina Shout in case your interested.

Fun one, nice to see you performing it on your piano. I don’t know the song, but can almost hear the words and see people dancing to it. You got the vibe for sure.

Well done Jeff  👏

Btw, I live 40 miles outside of New Orleans. Fwiw, This performance def sounds like home to me.  (I'm sure Fats would approve too 😉)

Thanks!  I've only been to New Orleans once.  Went the Preservation Jazz Hall while I was there and absolutely loved it.  So glad I captured the sound of home for you :)

Wow, this is such a great piece Jeff.

You mentioned in another thread that you were hesitant to to post your work here for review. There's absolutely no way that you should hesitate to post more, this was terrific!

Bet it only took you one take, too ...

Man I love that bluesy style of music and I'm completely in awe of someone who can play it as well as you. Great job. Beethoven on top of your piano there would approve for sure.

Thanks so much Timbo!  In that other thread, I was more referring to my own compositions and productions.  It's much easier to sound good when someone like James Booker is giving you the notes 😄
