Brian Hunsaker
Hey everyone, @bitflipper posted my 2nd new song "Power Over You" a few days ago. I'm following up today with the my first release from my "Car EP" project - "Haunted", and I'd love to get your feedback on the songwriting and arrangement. Like the rest of the EP, it was written and tracked in my car in Cakewalk (sans the final drums - which were done at my friend's studio), then post-production was done later in my home studio. Matt Dougherty (Megadeth / Disturbed) handled the final mix. This was actually my first release in 13 years, and was an absolutely massive undertaking. I hope you like it! Official Music Video: Here's Spotify is that's of more interest to some of you: Thank you again for being such a great and supportive community. When I saw this comment, I bet their would be a lot of interest for folks here on how you went about tracking in a car (especially for vocals). It is a common talking point for people struggling with recording setups, so actually tracking in a car would be a topic that would help others see what "can" be done (if you really want to). Thank you! I'm more than happy to engage on that. If you have any specific questions, I can readily answer - other than just detailing some general stuff . For starters, I was sitting in the back passenger-side seat to track things. My laptop and MOTU were on the seat next to me. The laptop was powered through a sin wave cigarette lighter adapter (the other one that wasn't sin wave made noise in the recording), and the MOTU got power directly through Firewire cable and 2 adapters (because PC not Mac). I had a permanently placed mic stand + boom in the front seat that was "wedge positioned" to go through the front seat head rest and hold the mic right in front of me. Then I had the usual Stedman metal pop filter and a very large tri-fold baffle thing behind the mic to dead reflections. Behind me I hung a blanket to deaden the rest of the car behind me. I was using Samson mixing headphones the whole time, which have since been upgraded to Sennheisers. Let me know what else you'd like to know

What should I do? 1 - Don't worry about it! 🙂 2 - A mod (including Dave) can move it. 3 - The "Bapu" method (the guy with the most posts over the decades here) usually posts in the Song Forum, but then puts a link here to it. 4 - Just keep making new stuff! 😁
