Michael Richards
I just discovered something interesting. I have a preset with 8 plugins. The long save happens with this preset. It also happens with less plugin presets. If I start with 4 audio tracks I have no long save. If I continually add the plugins that are in the preset I still have very fast initial saves. So you know, between adding these presets I am closing Sonar. When I have all the plugins from that preset, I no longer have a long save. What could be causing that? Every time I close this preset, reopen it, I get a long first save.
Bristol_Jonesey
Rebuild the preset?
Noel Borthwick
The most obvious question to eliminate is what plugins are in the preset.

This would bring a lot of pc's to their knees. What sort of preset are we talking about here? Why..... BFD3 AND BFD player? Noel Borthwick
Well there you have it. All these are huge plugins that are known to be slow to save. It has nothing to do with Sonar. All the host does is request plugins to save their state. If they take 10 minutes to save it adds to the project save time.

I guess the first save might be slower because Sonar has to initially save all the parameters of all the synths whereas subsequent saves only have to save changes. That said, I can't really reproduce an issue saving a project with many new synth tracks added, but I don't have some of the particular synths mentioned - notably Spitfire and Neural DSP. Seems to me this issue is still not fully explained. Edited 3 hours ago by David Baay
