bmarlowe
See pic below. In the track inspector (at left), for track 28, you can see the FX Chain plugin "NA Doubler." In the console view at right, for that same track 28, in that little FX box, I do not see that plugin. Shouldn't it be there? This is true for any plugin I try. The plugins work, but I never see them in the corresponding track in console view, What am I doing wrong? Chaps
Wouldn't FX in the Pro Channel be separate from FX in the track FX bin?
bmarlowe
Maybe you are right. So then, is there a signal flow difference between an FX chain plugin in pro-channel and a plugin in the FX bin in console view?

And the Post button in the Pro Channel determines whether the Pro Channel is pre or post the track FX bin. That's how I understand it, anyway. bmarlowe
Chaps - Yeah a plugin loaded directly into in the console view track bin is indeed pre. Thanks for that.

Your terminology is a bit misleading Firstly, there are 3 locations for plugins - the Fx Bin & the Pro Channel This applies to Tracks and Busses equally. These can be dis[played in either the Console View or Track View - there is no Console View track bin per se The Pre/post button determines whether the Pro Channel is PRE or POST the Fx bin. See graphic below.
bmarlowe
Bristol_Jonesy - thx for the info. >> Firstly, there are 3 locations for plugins - the Fx Bin & the Pro Channel Probably a typo but you listed only 2 >> Your terminology is a bit misleading... It would not surprise me if I have my terminology definitions wrong. By "Console View track bin" I meant the box in the console view pointed to by the top-most yellow arrow in the pic I posted. The Track FX bin shows in the Console View, and can be used from the Console View, but the Track FX bin is where the FX actually are, just like the sliders, panning, and other controls. Same with buses. The Console View just puts all the tracks and buses in one view so you can see them all at once.

Yes There's at least 4 locations to put FX plugins: 1) Track FX Rack ("bin" is the old term). Displayed in TV & CV 2) Bus FX Rack. Displayed in TV & CV 3) Track Clip FX. Displayed in TV 4) ProChannel FX Chain. Displayed in CV BTW, I think this signal flow chart is one of the more confusing to figure out. bmarlowe
>>> BTW, I think this signal flow chart is one of the more confusing to figure out. Yes but with a little study it I see that it does tell the story, thx sjoens. I did not realize that the Clip FX Rack (I have been using this) is pre-Input Gain. sjoens
That's because it's part of the Clip which is pre-gain. As shown in the chart, Cakewalk treats recorded clips and softsynths as the input signal for a track, not the actual input from your interface, as one might expect.
