onlyinitforthemoney
Hey Sonar how you doin? I very much appreciate all your efforts in keeping Cakewalk alive. And since Sonar 6 (wich in my opinion was peak Sonar) many things have changed. POSITION for instance, Position is a module that disapeared somewhere between Sonar 6 and X1, it was a so useful, You had a clip selected and you use Position to go at beginnig or end of it, very useful. Would you be so kind to bring it back? Thank You
David Baay
See Go to From and Go to Thru in global bindings. I have them bound to the original keys F7 and F8. Edited July 25 by David Baay

User 905133
Quote dumb according to the internet = temporarily unable or unwilling to speak. But I think you mean you have never used keyboard assignments / shortcuts to map a keyboard to Cakewalk/Sonar functions. Possibly you don't even use keyboard shortcuts. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036997613-Keyboard-Shortcuts Try this: Type P [for Preferences]. This should bring up Preferences--options you can look at and change. Make sure Advanced (not Basic) is selected. Hint: It's at the bottom of Preferences. In the left-hand column, under Customizations, Click on Keyboard Shortcuts. TIP: If you can't figure it out, there's a HELP button at the bottom. https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=CakewalkSonar&language=3&help=0x200DF Edited Sunday at 06:08 PM by User 905133 Fixed typo (changes -> change); To add self-help methods for the OP to get help re: Keyboard Shortcuts

msmcleod
@onlyinitforthemoney - I'd strongly recommend going through some video tutorials to see how things work nowadays. I learned most of my workflow on Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, and didn't really change my workflow right the way through to SONAR Platinum. It wasn't until I joined the beta team (before I was staff), that I made the effort to learn all the new stuff by watching some tutorials. It was a HUGE eye-opener. So many things I thought had gone had just been replaced with a different way of doing it, and there are loads of hidden workflow shortcuts I was completely unaware of. There are a bunch of links in the Tutorials section of this forum, but the ones that most helped me were: 1. SWA's Complete Sonar X2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR1DLE2UIfM&list=PLKRYWdEpbc5PgUgvrNuSvVyfv5qkll0qj and the Sonar X3 follow-up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EX09_s9wsDI&list=PLKRYWdEpbc5MtPslyvpY_tkunB34cvU75 2. Groove3's Sonar Explained and Sonar Platinum Advanced tutorials (needs a Groove3 subscription or can be purchased) P.S... don't skip the stuff you think you already know... there's some real gems (keyboard shortcuts/modifiers etc) in there that aren't apparent.
Noel Borthwick
Nothing has been lost. You can easily add custom commands to the custom module like this. See below where I've mapped goto from/thru to buttons on the custom module.
onlyinitforthemoney
The free Sonar version doesn't have GO TO FROM and GO TO THRU in custom module Thank you for your time Much appreciated

bmarlowe
Single key shortcuts can be scary though, you have to be careful. I remember panicking over things like a disappearing control bar (I must have inadvertently pressed "c").
onlyinitforthemoney
My favorite shorcut was Q for Mute it was great at the far left of the keyboard wit S, E, D for select erase and draw in piano roll but they changed it somewhere between Sonar6 and X1 Roland did this i guess Until a programmer gets bored and change it again Edited Sunday at 01:17 PM by onlyinitforthemoney

I changed C to Show the Console, not the Control Bar.** 5 hours ago, onlyinitforthemoney said: My favorite shortcut was Q for Mute it was great at the far left of the keyboard wit S, E, D for select erase and draw in piano roll but they changed it somewhere between Sonar6 and X1 Roland did this i guess Until a programmer gets bored and change it again To me customizability has long been the software's best general feature. In this case even if at some point "a programmer" changes some default you like, you might be able to change them back!!! **PS: I like the way the Menu Bar items reflect my choices.
