Russell Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) Been using Sonar since version 6 and have been relatively happy with all the subsequent versions . . . until now . . . I finally got around to installing the "free" sonar this weekend - Is the butt ugly interface by design? Locking down placement and size of various items is intentional? (I don't use sends often but do use plugins often so changing those two windows alone is a pain) I guess they feel if they make it exceptionally bad and inconvenient they can force people into the pay version? I paid for Sonars up through X3 producer so I am not opposed to buying software but if the free version is their answer to the nice looking CbBL we had. I think I'll call it quits. I did open up the - still installed - Sonar X3 Producer and it loaded several projects created in the BandLab Cakewalk just fine. Had a couple minor issues with some VST licenses but those were quickly resolved. For how I use the software, X3 Producer is more than adequate so I will stick with that. Thanks for the ride but as they say - All good things must come to an end. Edited July 21 by Russell

Do you mean to say that even if I pay it will still look like it was designed by / for my 4 year old grandson . . . ? That absolutely confirms me not paying for an "upgrade". This has to be the first time in my life where a paid version is substantially worse than what was available free . . .

Took about a day to get used to it, then grew to really appreciate the clean lines and uncluttered appearance. Edited July 21 by Bristol_Jonesey 3
Salvatore Sorice Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I like the look as well. As stated, takes a short time to acclimate, but it's nice and clean. And I think it will get better and better as the Bakers work their magic! 3
Wookiee Posted July 21 Posted July 21 @Russell well, sorry to disappoint you but, the visual differences between the free and paid is/are zero, zilch, nada, nothing. How is this possible, well because they are exactly the same programs with certain functions disabled in the free version. This is a somewhat pointless thread because the visuals have been discussed to death over the last 12 months. 4 1 1
