greg54
I downloaded and installed the new Sonar free tier. But when I opened it a few minutes ago, I got the message below. I'm not very knowledgeable with computers. Anyway, everything works fine with CbB, but not with Sonar. It will not recognize my interface. I went to Preferences and checked, and Apollo Twin is there for the output. So I do not know why I'm getting this message and why there is no sound during playback. Colin Nicholls
Are you trying to run another DAW or audio application at the same time? What happens if you reboot and just open Sonar?

reginaldStjohn
If your using the Universal Audio interface for your windows sound as well then you have to make sure that both Sonar and windows use the same sample rate and bit depth. Also, make sure you are not using a wrapper driver like ASiO4All but the native ASIO driver for your device.
greg54
It keeps changing the sample rate to 48, even after I set it to 44. I included a couple of screen shots so you can see how Sonar automatically set it up. As for audio drivers, I can't access them. I don't know if it's set to ASIO or what. After tinkering for a while, I finally got sound out of it. However, nothing is in sync. The sound is late overall, and the instruments do not align. I'm thinking of uninstalling it then reinstalling it. I can't change the buffer size, and the bit depth is now set to 24. Thoughts? Xoo
Those screenshots also imply you're using WASAPI not ASIO. (Playback and Recording tab of Preferences).

I finally switched it to ASIO, but the instruments are not in sync. When I press Play, the cursor moves past where the music is supposed to begin before I hear anything. Then none of the instruments are aligned.

Jan
Since you said CbB was running fine you might want to try replacing Sonar's AUD.INI file (located in %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Sonar folder) with CbB's AUD.INI file (located in "%APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" folder). Obviously do that when Sonar is NOT running. You can get to those folders by pressing WIN+R and then pasting the name of the folder from above. Make sure to leave the quotation marks intact in the second one.

greg54
Update: It took me a while to figure it out. For whatever reason, I had a hard time in Windows 11 finding the sample rate so I could change it. It was set at 48 and I changed it to 44.1. When I played the song back, it was still out of sync. I had changed the driver to ASIO yesterday, but it changed back to something else. So I worked on everything in Windows 11 and Cakewalk to get all the sample rates and drivers and everything else to what they're supposed to be. Finally, it works as it's supposed to. (I hope nothing changes back.) I'm always grateful for the help everyone on this forum provides. Thank you!
