Problem(s) with Add Track

In Track view, I press the "+" button to bring up the "Add Track" dialog menu (see attached snapshot). Under the "Instrument" tab, there are some radio button options, like "Record Enable", "Open Virtual Controller", and under "Advanced" there are additional radio buttons; "Create Folder", "Instrument Track per Output", and "Split Instrument Track".

When I click on any of these options, the radio buttons do not light up, so I am not sure what is happening.

Likewise, under the "Audio" tab, the radio button options do not light up.

All radio buttons work as expected here

Okay, so it seems to be a Color Scheme thing. When using a scheme with brightly colored control backgrounds, like Light or Light Gray, everything looks okay. Using a color scheme with dark control background, the controls are colored in such a way that it's not visible. However, they are selected. Sounds like a pretty easy fix.

Yes. Confirmed.

As you say, easy fix, assuming it's been reported

You could also use the + button in the synth rack to add Kontakt 7 either with 1 stereo out or multiple. Thats the way i add a soft synth. YMMV of course.

To add a simple audio or midi track simply right click on an empty part of TV and select in the drop down menu.

The UI stuff is the one thing that stopped me moving over to Sonar sooner, and to be honest, still would if CbB wasn't being retired.

It's not that I'm stuck in the past. The new Sonar seems really good, but honestly, this kind of thing is really letting it down.

I'm not fussed about theme editors or anything like that, and it's not a question of style or attractiveness or whatever. This is just baseline UI readability stuff.

I know it's a small team, and I'm sure there's not time or resources available for someone to full time specialise in UI. But I think it sorely needs a thorough design pass, from someone with a solid grounding in UX stuff (not just visual design) rather than picking away at piecemeal. There are many issues with readability throughout the application.

Those checkboxes used to work in an earlier release... I think this is a regression. Look for normal functionality to be restored soon I would expect.

Hey, @John T I recommend documenting each of the issues you've identified, clearly in a top level post for maximum visibility.

Almost no complex software is finished! MsWord by at one time the richest guy in the world!

People complained a lot when Gibson dropped the prior version of this software. Meng saved it and made it free for years.

If we pay $$, it helps fund the staff, this board and more. It helps with sustainability.   I operate a small board and it is a lot of work!

Cheers!

I see no correlation with what you just wrote and what I was addressing.  There is a big difference between software having bugs, which all do, and saying a product isn't finished yet.

It is finished in that one can do professional and artistic work with it.  Just because there is more that they want to do should not hold us all up for the other benefits like the reduced latency.  And it is likely that after they create more graphic options that there will be other things that are not "bug" related.

By the way, I just recorded a great session drummer today who works with many DAWs of many producers and he was impressed with Sonar.

I hope you have great success with whatever DAW you use.
