Plug-in disappeared

Recommended Posts

Next time you decided to delete a clip try this.

1. EDIT > Select none.

2. Select the clip or clips, the delete clips.

If just the clip goes then I would suspect that by accident or chance the FX was also selected.

If not report with the project to support@cakewalk.com, don't include audio unless significant.

I think you did not read well my post.

Supposing that In a track pane I inserted a plug-in.

During teaking the project  sometime I delete one or more bars.

Sometime it happens that I have the bar/bars s deleted and the plug-in in the track pane deleted too.

Saying "the plugin in the track pane" is slightly ambiguous.

Do you mean a plugin in the Track Fx Bin (which is in the track header, not the track pane)

Or do you mean in the clip Fx Rack (attached to a clip, in which case Wookiee's explanation above provides a possible answer

I read it OK. Perhaps my interpretation of what you was saying was inexact, due to your terminology.  I obviously incorrectly thought by track pane you were referring to FX bin of the track or FX bin of the clip, silly me.

As Colin notes please define what you mean by track pane!

An FX can be in two places in the FX bin of the whole track or the FX bin of the clip.

If you delete a clip with an FX in the clips FX bin, then the FX is going to be deleted as well, as Colin notes.

Excuse me. I meant that the plug-in is in the track Fx bin.

I've learned to be careful when using the Del key (don't know if that's used for deletion here).

If a plugin has the brackets around its corners, as it might have if you've clicked it recently in the FX Bin, and press the Del key to delete something somewhere else, the plugin with the brackets gets removed. For me this happens when deleting selected envelope nodes. You think your keyboard focus is in the envelope editor only, but if a plugin has the brackets around it in the FX Bin, it gets deleted along with the envelope nodes. If I remove the plugin focus in the FX Bin, Del key leaves the plugins alone.

I've suggested improving the keyboard focus management. In my case, when I work in the envelope area, the keyboard focus should move to the envelope and the plugin focus should be removed.
