Hi and Hello,

even though I already know the negative answer, I'll ask again: Is there a way to transfer existing VST envelopes (preferably including remote assignments) in the Track or Clip Manager to another/new project ? Perhaps I've overlooked something... 🤓

Try this:

1. Select the existing synth track (or if a split instrument, the synth audio and MIDI tracks)
2. Save it as a track template.
3. In the new project, insert the track template.
4. In the old project, copy special making sure it copies track envelopes
5. In the new track, make the first newly inserted track the active track and ensuring the now time is at zero
6. Paste into the new project

At that point you should have a copy of the synth and its envelopes in the new project, so you can now copy the envelopes as necessary to other tracks.

Hey Great! This actually works! I can live with the fact that the remote assignments aren't transferred, but it saves me a tremendous amount of work and also changes my workflow. Sonar and its MIDI capabilities are truly a powerful tool. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hmm, sometimes Cakewalk/Sonar is really merciless... it just doesn't want to (special) copy my clip editor labels  or include them in the template. Bad luck again. I already suspect there won't be a solution for this 🙈

One thing you can try that will duplicate a track (with that data included) between projects is to drag the cwp file (from the Cakewalk Browser) that you want to replicate the track from into the new project (the sample rates must match for this to work, OR the new project needs to be blank so the imported project will set the sample rate). What this does is import ALL the tracks from the imported cwp into the new project, so may require cleanup. From a "template" perspective, you can speed this process up by saving only the tracks you want to transfer as a new cwp, so that it only contains the tracks you need that data from (delete the unneeded tracks, and save with a new project name). As far as the clip contents themselves, that may require (a lot) more tweaking depending on how big the differences are between the new and imported projects.

Its a track template not a clip template. Clip data is not included.

Sure, yes, that makes sense... 🫡
