Frank DeFede
I have a Personus Studio 24, and Cakewalk by Bandlab. Today when I went to open Cakewalk, it loaded slowly and then when it finally loaded my project it just spun. I had to restart. This time it finally got into the project, but it played the audio distorted. Usually I can fix this the few times that it has happened by opening the Universal control for the Presonus Studio 24 and changing the buffer size, but when I pull down the buffer option then try to set it the numbers come up, but when I select any of them they do not populate the screen. I think it may be running at 0. I don't know, maybe I am chasing my tail here, thinking that it's the buffer. . My system usually works. I was getting ready to make 1 final change in the project, and export it to another studio to add live drums and do a final mix. Can anyone please make a suggestion what you may think the problem is? Thank you in advance!
John Vere
My only realistic suggestion would be to use S1 no more stupid issues. Im afraid Cakewalk has become abandon ware.
Promidi
What happens if you rename your "%AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\AUD.ini" file? (While CBb is closed)
Frank DeFede
Thank you for the suggestion. I did a search for "%AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\AUD.ini" If comes up with AUD.INI. Should I change it to "%AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\AUD.ini" Thanks Frank

I wonder if it could be my personus Studio 24 problem. I have the most up to date drivers on the device, and also in Windows. Everything was working a few days ago. If you have any other ideas please let me know. Thank you, Frank
John Vere
So you are saying that it still doesn’t work even when paired with S1 or another Daw? That most certainly implies that the hardware has an issue. There’s a sub forum for Presonus hardware on the user forum. studio one forum. com Might be help available there.
Frank DeFede
Hi John, Yes, I tied S1 and S2. I have an old Cakewalk Sonar v-studio 100. I will try it now. I was thinking it was hardware too because I can’t change the buffers size in the personus control.panel. Maybe this could be the problem ***** it also is freezing. Let me ask you this. When I go into the task manager, to close it there are 2 different icons. One is red 32 bit the other is blue 32 bit. My shortcut on my desk top is the blue one that I have always used. Does that indicate a problem? I wonder if everyone has both of them? Thank you so much for your time and responding! Frank

The reason I say this is I was doing video work over a year ago and every other input was in 48KHz, but CbB was running in 44.1KHz. UC refused to crash (using a Revelator, no less), and it trudged along and did its thing but with a massive amount of latency/overhead. I didn't think anything like this was possible (and still function), but it did. It is almost like the "handshake" between CbB and UC was broken by the order in which things were added to the mixer. See if you have multiple inputs active on your UC Mixer and and make sure that all of the bit rates match each other there.

I use over 60 instances in most of my templates without any issues. You must have (as Glenn noted) something in the Prefs (Control Surfaces or Metronome section) that is triggering a false start. Frank DeFede
i want to thank all of you who have taken the time to make suggestions. It looks like the Presonus Studio 24 is the problem. I am not sure what is wrong with it. I reinstalled my old Cakewalk Sonar V-Studio 100 and everything is working fine so I now know it is not a Cakewalk issue. The audible quality seems to be good as the Presonus Studio 24. They both are 24 bit, but the Sonar V-studio 100 is only 96 KHZ and the Presonus Studio 24 is 192 KHZ. I am debating whether I should just keep using the Sonar v-studio 100 as it is working fine, or go out and buy a new Presonus Studio 24 or something else. I thought I'd try the Presonus studio 24 one more time, and disconnected the v-studio 100. It didn't work. Then, when I reconnected the Cakewalk Sonar V-Studio 100 the control buttons on the transport don't light or work. And the midi no longer works, but at least I can play from the tracks from my computer with Cakewalk. Any suggestions are most welcome, and thank you so much for your help!
