CSistine
I wanted to purchase a deal of TC Electronic at Plugin Boutique, but when I logged in the price in the cart raised by more than 50% !!!! Even if we have very high VAT taxes in Sweden, this exceeds the tax by far! Are they crazy or is this the usual hidden EU customs duty???

Here in Germany it calculates the tax correctly, which is 19%. Maybe you were just unfortunate to log in at the exact moment when the price changed? How are the prices for other products if you compare them to the non-logged-in price?

The 25% VAT in Sweden shouldn't be the reason for a 50 percent price increase. Are you sure you don't owe the Plugin Boutique shop any money or have stolen the owner's girlfriend? Just asking.

Per Christian Frankplads
Solution for all such problems: Your invoice address must always be in a VAT-exempt country. I use Gibraltar and the address for my country's consulate there. No VAT!

CSistine
It was still the same! TC8210 was $21.00 if I looked at their page in USD without login. After login and going on to payment it increased to more than $32 !!! But the price-tax thing has never been transparent at Plugin Boutique. Though I have never had a case like this with such an excessive price increase. Also, there is no explanation of the price change, only a hint that it has changed. IMHO this isn't acceptable at all! But EU opens a lot of doors for such cheats with their internet tax rules introduced some years ago!

Then there is a reality for me that never sets in. If a have to go through a bunch of hoops I probably don't need it but I somehow buy it because it was a challenge.

msmcleod
With all of these tariffs flying around, be careful where you buy stuff. AFAIK Plugin Boutique is based in the South of England (or at least it used to be), so I doubt there'd be any surcharges for EU customers beyond them charging VAT. TC Electronic is owned by Music Tribe (i.e. Behringer) - who are based in Germany, so I doubt there'd be any import/export charges to content with. I guess there could be some new customs charges that have only just kicked in post-brexit. If you're a US customer however, what you don't want to do is buy a US product from a vendor based elsewhere, as you could end up covering the tariff the vendor pays to import the product, then also pay again for it to be imported back into the US. If the vendor has branches / offices in the US, this may not be an issue... but best to check.

Have to say, however, that I haven´t had similar problems with PluginBoutique.com. I'm curious to know how and if PB will fix this issue or at least clarify the situation.
